You included the spoiler in the title, so I'm not going to spoiler my stuff.
So I think it is much a gameplay reasoning as much as a story one. Though if they were indeed from another galaxy, it goes to show you how common Humans are in the universe, making you wonder.. just how did they get spread so far?
As for the no bodies, it has been ~9,000 years since it crashed; It explains on numerous occasions how "Alien remains have turned to dust" in the first adventure. One can assume the same happened here. Unlike Ancient Thassilon, for example, they weren't enhanced with magic, which may helped preserve their corpses, as it did with the Kasatha (Who got cursed)

That said, I suppose we shouldn't have mentioned it in the Player's Guide... but that ALSO said...
People looking for weird alien technology will find some later on... particularly in Part 4 of the Adventure Path.

I will probably DM iron gods, in October, so it isn't really a spoiler for me.
I really didn't catch that part in the player's guide, i did know that the silver mount is a human ship (i think that James Jacobs has said so in a thread) though so maybe i glossed over that part.
I also hope that my players don't catch that part.
