A few Bardic Masterpiece questions

Rules Questions

Right, not fully clear about this, nor could I find the answers on the forum.

I suppose one cannot use bardic performance while using bardic masterpiece unless one of the two is done with Exquisite Accompaniment. It should work as bardic masterpieces are bardic performances after all.

Now the bit I don't fully understand. Lets say Vindictive Soliloquy. It costs 5 bardic performances and takes 5 full rounds to get the call thunderstorm effect.
In those 5 rounds, do I have to spend a standard action on the performance each round? Is it 5 full round actions and I stand there like a brick tumbling with no more than a 5 foot step? Or may I move around shoot and cast while only maintaining the performance up for 5 rounds?

I mean from my standpoint I'd love the last option the most, otherwise I'd find it useless and I'd be angry at the developers for not thinking of people who like to recite or sing as they cut peoples heads off. :I

Just not fully clear on this matter.

If anyone has an idea I'd be sooo glad.

Hugs and Kisses in advance

This person says James Jacobs said that masterpieces don't count as bardic performances:

But I can't find that link unless it is referring to this post:

That post might be specific to weird words stacking with a masterpiece.

Either way, there seems to be a mistake in the question. The Dance of 23 Steps is always a free action so I think its a bad example.

Since masterpieces become "easier" to perform as you level, like bardic performances, at level 7, standard action masterpieces would all be a move action to perform. What I would like to know is whether you can perform inspire courage as a move action, then also use a masterpiece as a move action (replacing your standard) and benefit from both effects.

My personal opinion would be that your last option makes the most sense. Otherwise, it would only be usable if you predicted battle was coming, or if you wanted to stand there and die >.<.

The counter to this is that they specifically say "5 full rounds". Alternatively, The Lullaby of Ember the Ancient (Sing) and Minuet of the Midnight Ivy (Dance) have the action listed as "1 round" and "1 full round" respectively which may be a typo.http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateMagic/spellcastingClassOpti ons/bard.html

If there were some that said "2 rounds" and some that said "2 full rounds", then I would definitely say that it may be intentional for you to be able to maintain it as a free action the second round for the one that simply says "2 rounds" but those aren't there for comparison.

Either way, I really don't see the benefit of waiting 5 rounds to have an effect. Your time is probably better spent buffing your teammates with spells and songs.

MY QUESTION IS:

For the halfling I am currently building w/
Trait: Threatening Defender
Feats: Cautious Fighter (+2AC), Combat Expertise (+2AC)
Skills: Acrobatics 3 ranks (+1AC), Dance 4 ranks
Masterpiece: The Dance of 23 Steps
Equipment: Madu

At lvl 7, would he be able to do the following on turn 1: (assuming enemy within reach)
Move: Inspire Courage (to buff teammates)
Standard: Fight Defensively (+2AC) (w/ Combat Expertise)
Free: The Dance of 23 Steps (+2AC)

Totaling:
+2 to attack from Inspire Courage
-2 to attack from Fighting Defensively with a Madu before starting to dance
-0 to attack Combat Expertise with a Madu and Threating Defender before starting to dance
and +9 to AC after the dance?

Would this continue for 2 more rounds with Lingering Performance?
-2 to hit because of dancing and +9 to AC?

[I would of course eventually have Blundering Defenses, Combat Reflexes, Bodyguard and Helpful (trait) to give my nearby buddies +6AC]

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you where I got it, but I do know you can maintain a performance and a masterpiece. It was said that although they share the same resource (performance and masterpiece) one each can be maintained with no need for spell support (such as Exquisite Accompaniment). However, I am uncertain of whether or not one can begin one of each in the same round...I think you can, but not certain.
