10:1 against crashing the site at 11:55 PDT as everyone logs in.
2:1 against crashing the site at 12:01 PDT as everyone clicks on "add to cart."
1.3:1 against crashing the site at 12:05 PDT as the credit processors go in to high gear.
.6:1 against crashing the site at 12:07 PDT as the personalizer starts getting put through the wringer.
.4:1 against crashing the site at 12:10 PDT as the file servers get to work.
.25:1 against crashing the site between 12:15 PDT and 9:00 PDT from all of the above.
3:1 against the site not crashing at all.

It has been up and down since 0830 EDT this morning after I got up.

Yep, everything went smoothly for me up to the personalizer at about 12:06 PDT actually. Finally got it to download about 5 minutes later.
I was surprised that it had issues that early in the process, but not shocked. I *did* give odds in favor of it crashing at that point. :)
Edit: in all reality the site did well last night. Even with the bug in the personalizer the rest of the site seemed largely unaffected. I did notice a bit a general slowness but I never got the nostore screen or waited more than 30 seconds for a page load. Well done tech team!

We had some near-downtime earlier this morning, where the site was overloaded enough that it was serving pages too slowly to do any good. I don't think that was triggered by too much traffic but it might have been.
We also just had a few minutes of downtime just now, and that was upstream of our servers. We're investigating but at least we're back on the air now.
Overall yes we do have more traffic than normal right now, but our servers at least seem to be doing OK. The personalizer server is probably taking the biggest hit right now.
