Help with picking a class

Kingmaker

Sovereign Court

There is a player in my Pathfinder campaign who strong arms everyone into doing what he wants because he has a high charisma in game. The GM and I have agreed to basically have me keep him in check. We are trying to make it fun for everyone so if it's possible we would like for it to be a character in game recognizing that he is controlling and is very opposed to having no say, just to maintain the role playing. He usually plays bard and we are going to play the Kingmaker campaign, any ideas are welcome including the new classes from the new Advanced Class Guide.

Bonus Points: He is planing on becoming the ruler, so if there is a way that you guys can think of that will make it hard for him to ascend to the throne or make it easier for someone else to, I would gladly appreciate it.

Also if possible, no spoilers. All I know so far is that you can build your own kingdom which sounds pretty metal. Thanks :)

You check him by asking the GM what kind of game you're going to play once you get into the kingdom-building parts. One possibility: You could play a high-charisma character (i.e., sorcerer, oracle, etc.), and marry him. Then, under the rules, you would be co-rulers.

Alright so a few basic things first off.

Creating a character simply to stonewall another player is not a permanent solution in my mind and can lead to out of game fighting or arguments it comes to light that you're intentionally preventing him from the play style he appears to have the most fun with. That's not condoning his behavior, just a warning of something that can come up.

Before starting Kingmaker, I would recommend the GM and Players sit down and discuss out of game what kind of kingdom they want to build - and who plans to take on what role within it.

This would allow everyone to have a general idea of what to expect once the kingdom building rules start coming into play.

There are also rules for different forms of governmental rule such as Oligarchy (which is what my current game is using), Theocracy, and a few others.

Oligarchy gives every member of the "ruling council" a domain within the kingdom so there is not one absolute ruler.

Just a few quick thoughts.

Oligarchy seems to compliment Kingmaker the best.
As to the question of what class. Sorcerer is a great choice for this campaign.
And a side note because roleplay isnt about your stats really: I believe this is one of the few adventute paths where cavaliers could really shine. Or when he gets unbearable hire an assasin via GM. rulers get assasinated all the time in high fantasy. Then again my playgroup is composed of scumbags
