I've been playing Pathfinder with a great group of friends for the past 6 months, and it has been a really good time. It's always an evening with lots of laughs and absurd happenings. Today, my GM and I were discussing if this could be done on a Twitch Stream or a Youtube channel to share our fun with other people. Production of this kind of show is a bit odd, but I wanted to pick peoples brains. Would you watch this? What kind of requirements does the format have? Would visual aids or viewing the battle grid be more conducive to viewing? I have a lot to say on the this but I am more interested in feed back. All responses are appreciated! Thank you!

I am participating in a group that is actually doing just this. We have a bunch of sessions recorded and we just need the editing etc to be done.

I've found that when players watch games, they usually get bored, and I don't blame them - and it's only because games actually run slower than we realise.

As a result, whenever someone asks if they can watch a game to "see how it all works", I strongly encourage them not to watch, and to instead jump in and play. It's made a big difference to recruiting, every single time.

It sounds like you're talking about going a step further - to broadcast just because why not, without anyone even asking to watch. I'm curious as to what those viewers would think.

I don't think it'd be something I'd care to watch. Generally if I've already run something, I know how it goes. I've already read the threads of other GMs that have run it and posted about it and watching it wouldn't be that entertaining for me. The same goes for if I'd already played a scenario. If I haven't run it or played it, I wouldn't want to watch because it would spoil the scenario for me.

I think done correctly, you could have a decent show on youtubes or the like ala tabletop, but you would need to have segues to explain rules, etc. I had contemplated doing something similar except via Skype, since the software has built-in recording capabilities. The hard part would be editing it all...

When you have a view able product, let me know! I'd love to see how you format the show.

How would you feel if it was home brew story? A good story could suck in viewers maybe?

I suggest you take look at aquisition inc. on youtube.

If you don't know what it is, basically its the guys from penny arcade who play DnD during the Pax expo. they also have podcasts of their games in between expos.

it could give you an idea on what to do for your own thing.
