Bay Area Labor Day conventions?

Pathfinder Society

Hi,

I am a 2nd edition DND guy that just registered with Pathfinder society to check it out.

I'm wondering which convention I should attend this Labor Day to get the best mix of pathfinder games?

Pacificon has been around longer
Celesticon has a lot of younger people

That's all I know, I'm old school.

Any suggestions?

Silver Crusade

What part of the bay area are you in?. We have a good group that shows up at Black Diamond Games in Concord every tuesday 6-10pm for PFS.

Silver Crusade 2/5

I did Pacificon last year, representing the Grognards of yore, and the PFS was exceptional. Tables mustered quickly and easily and were plentiful. The organizers this year are just that, organized. I would recommend it.

Grand Lodge 5/5

Contact John and Wendy-Ann Francis. They are the South Bay Venture Lieutenants and will likely be coordinating the PFS experience at Pacificon. Some years in the past we tried to have a presence at both Pacificon and Celesticon, but you know what they say about the splitting the party. You can find more information about Bay Area Pathfinder Society events in general at Bayareapathfinder.com.

Hi all, I live in Tracy. Does anyone (here) game out there?

Shadow Lodge 4/5 Venture-Captain, California—San Francisco Bay Area South & West

Wendy-Ann and I are indeed organising PFS at Pacificon (and really should have had a preliminary schedule up by now; after PaizoCon ...)

PFS at Pacificon runs Friday-Monday (10 slots), and we expect there to be 12 or more tables being played in each slot. Several of those tables will be running introductory or low-level scenarios suitable for players new to Pathfinder Society.

We should have most of the late Season 5 scenarios, the first three from Season 6, and plan to have both the specials; the Season 6 kick-off, and the Season 5/Season 6 faction transition scenario. There will also be a selection of older scenarios, and the traditional "Module Sunday" where around half the tables will be running all-day modules.

Hope that helps!

P.S. I think the nearest PFS to Tracy is "War Torn Front" in Manteca.

P.P.S. AD&D 2e isn't old-school; it was the third D&D variant I played!

P.P.P.S. We may well be running three levels of "Emerald Spire" on Sunday, too.

I started playing 1977, technically basic DND first edition, blue cover. I may still have it somewhere.

:)

Metamorphosis Alpha, Fringeworthy, Traveler, Tunnels & Trolls, Chivalry & Sorcery, Runequest (of course).

I played a lot.

I knew about War Torn.

I had the original DND adventurer set. The wizard never stood up well. The Halfling we played with, in the end he looked like a sling stone. Being I guess 100% lead they didn't hold form well.

The dice that came with the set eventually broke to pieces due to poor construction. But at least I got dice.
