I see... by it's price it's a Darkwood Light Shield (a Darkwood Buckler would cost 215gp by the standard pricing of darkwood items in the core book)... but in either case being Darkwood only effects the thing's armour check penalty and weight (so if you're after a reduced ASF % then it's not much help).

But there is confusion as to whether or not its a buckler or light wooden shield.
There isn't. It's a Light Wooden Shield.
Examining the Darkwood Material pricing, it says it's a Masterwork version of the item, except it grants another 1 ACP reduction. This extra cost, according to the price of the actual Darkwood Buckler in the book, is calculated as Masterwork Price (150) + [10 X (original weight [5])] + the base cost of a regular version of the item (Light Wooden Shield costs 3 gold).
150 + (10 X 5) + 3 = 150 + 50 + 3 = 203. The same price as the Darkwood Buckler is listed in the book.
If it was an actual buckler, the cost would be a total of 205 gold.
That being said, it's hardly gamebreaking and absolutely possible for a buckler to be made of wood. Just pay the extra 2 gold and you're golden.

Yeah - I initially assumed it was metal-only, 'cos it's described in the core book as 'a small metal shield' which, for D&D or Pathfinder is one of the more specific statements you get! I just recalled that page of the GameMastery Guide revealing that in Pathfinder you can have mithral or adamantine studded leather and thought it worth a quick check for bucklers as well.
