Way Of The Wicked - Becoming a Vampire

Product Discussion

Can someone please explain to me exactly what it means, and how it works?

It says "must give up 5 feats", is this meaning we have to give up the feat each time we get one in order to progress the path presented in the book to becoming a true vampire?

If that is the case, due to our level and select classes, if it's 1:1 (for gained feats only), I'll never be able to get to 'true vampire'.

Any guidance would be appreciated!

I'm a fey sorcerer, focused on screwing with people's minds (no fireballs etc).

If I remember correctly it was basically a feat chain. Take this feat, gain this ability. Once you had them all you were basically a full on vampire.

Exo-Guardians

The 5 feat chain replaces the "level adjustment" for what is basically a high powered race. Book 3 is when that option opens up, so the feats at 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 would be spent. A player planning on this option can always hold a feat slot open (as they have not met the prereq until they are bitten. Make sure your GM knows you want this. they may have to bend something in the AP to make sure you can get it.

Also know what you're getting into. Vampires have very specific weaknesses and Searing Light is a low level cleric spell. Did I mention you will be fighting lots of good guys with access to divine spells? Disrupting Weapon can ruin your day fast, save or die every time you get hit. By the time the Mitrans can use Undeath to Death, you should be too high level for it to effect you (8th level mook clearing spell). As an enchanter, getting people to invite you in shouldn't be an issue too often. River travel could suck. And blood, you'll need plenty of that.

Your party probably does most of its activities at night anyway so that won't matter.
