My Wizard just reached level 1 in the Bloatmage Prestige Class, and I have a question for those of you who have had experience playing one:
How does the Blood Pool class feature work in conjunction with a Wizard's Arcane Bonded Object?
Blood points can be spent at the time of casting to cast a spell without using that spell’s spell slot. The spell slot remains unused (for spontaneous casters), or the spell is recalled as if it had not been cast (for spellcasters who prepare spells). Retaining a spell or spell slot in this manner costs a number of blood points equal to the spell’s level, and these points must be spent at the time of casting. Blood points do not give spellcasters access to spells they don’t already know or have prepared.
A bonded object can be used once per day to cast any one spell that the wizard has in his spellbook and is capable of casting, even if the spell is not prepared. This spell is treated like any other spell cast by the wizard, including casting time, duration, and other effects dependent on the wizard's level. This spell cannot be modified by metamagic feats or other abilities. The bonded object cannot be used to cast spells from the wizard's opposition schools.
Part of me wants to believe that...
- Once per day I can cast any spell from my spellbook via my Arcane Bond. "This spell is treated like any other spell cast by the Wizard".
- I may spend Blood Points at the time of casting a spell to have the "spell recalled as if it had not been cast".
...these abilities make it so I can use my Arcane Bond multiple times per day.
But the rules critic in me points out that...
- "Blood points can be spent at the time of casting to cast a spell without using that spell’s spell slot".
- Using my Arcane Bond doesn't require a spell slot.
...it may not be possible.
What do others think?
