Looking for online (VTT / skype / ...) group (GMT+1 timezone)

Gamer Connection

Hey,

A friend and I are looking for a group to be able to play pathfinder. Since we live in an area where it's almost impossible to find a local group we are trying to find a group of people that would be interested in playing over the internet using VTT's and skype/google+. I played some pathfinder before and have some experience with other pen and papers but not to the extent that I feel comfortable DMing a campaign myself. My friend is fairly new to pen and papers but we try to get used to the rules by playing minor encounters (both rp and combat) with each other till we find a group.
We live in the GMT+1 timezone and both are fluent in English.

Hope to hear from some interested players/DMs soon.

Hey Maglor!

Have you considered a play by post (PbP) game instead of a skype game? That's where you come on a message board once or twice a day, read what other people have posted, and make a post or two for your own character. Most PbP games die or fade away or take forever to play. The Wold is different! We've been around for years and years. We play every single weekday. And you are promised to have a character you can play to level 20!

Here's more info on the Wold:

The Wold is a long running Dungeons and Dragons campaign world that emphasizes play by post gaming and a commitment to write one game turn every weekday. We are a community of about 60 gamers in eight long-running games, and we are looking for new members to start two new games.

What do you need to know about the Wold?

• We are here to stay! The campaign dates back to 1985, and we have online archives back to 1996. You can expect to start a character and play through 20 levels over the course of a 10 year career.

• We are free! There’s no cost to join and no test to pass. Check out some of the links below, and if you like us, you are in. As our founder, Jerry says, “There is no tryout or application. My experience is that those players who stay are the ones who would have passed any application or tryout anyway. So I let the players weed themselves out or remain to become a permanent player.”

• We offer a very rich gaming experience! We have our own homegrown gods, nations, races, and peoples; we have custom classes, spells, feats, items, and more — all detailed in our own wiki. We play by the Pathfinder flavor of the Dungeons and Dragons rules these days, but we are eager and glad to teach players who need help.

• We focus on heroic themes! All our player characters are Good. Feel free to create a troubled and conflicted character, so long as you are interested in redemption, nobility, and overcoming obstacles to become a true hero.

• We are a friendly community of people from all over the world, from all walks of life, and of all ages! The gaming groups that stick together over time are the ones in which players become friends, and we encourage that.

Hello Maglor.

A little more information would be helpful. What times/dates during the week are you available (and how often would you like to meet)? What are your respective experiences (how long have you been gaming, how experienced are you with the system, etc)? What sort of gaming do you prefer (lots/little combat, lots/little rp, what kind of storylines, etc)? Do you prefer core rules, 3rd party content, or certain houserules in use? Which virtual tabletops or chat programs do you prefer?

All of these would be very handy to finding a group that would like to have you and one that fits your own gaming preferences.

Cayzle: I did PbP before and it's not really my thing at the moment, I keep it in mind though.

Aleron: For frequency of games i think every 2 weeks is good, but other frequencies are possible too. As for days I usually go for weekends since that allows more freedom for overtime but weekdays are also possible, those require more planning though (we both work). Now and then it's possible that we're abroad for work but those dates are known in advance and usually are more on weekdays. Experience I said in the original post. For combat/rp/puzzle balance a healthy balance of everything should do. The programs to be used I leave up to the DM, after all he has to work with it the most, most are quite easy to learn for the player side anyway. The goal is having fun. Rulesets is the same, I prefer a game where the DM feels comfortable in. I have the basic, advanced and ultimate books myself. As for my friend, she is still learning as said before but progresses pretty good and is quite motivated.
I hope that is enough information now.

Good luck finding a great game!

Much better, Maglor.

I'll be on vacation for a few days after today, but if you haven't found anything I'll let you know what I'm working on and see if it is something you're interested in (if you're curious, you can go through my more recent post history and get some idea).

Good luck with your search!

Bumping this one, had a group for a short bit then it got pretty much disbanded because the gm is getting too much stuff to handle in ither aspects of his life. Played into a little bit of the first part of RotRL.
