You won't get the AP advantage shipment until the first of your subscriptions ships. You could add the AP subscription and then place a separate order for a bunch of other products choosing "ship with my upcoming subscription" option.
It won't show the discount yet, but will be factored in when AP #79 and your side art are shipped (in mid-late march).
It might get screwy if you're ordering paizo PDFs. In that case, you can go ahead and place your order for the AP subscription now, but you should hold off on ordering the others until after the first volume has shipped.

I'm ordering several hundred dollars so the discount comes out to over $40. Does that still work out if I follow the instructions that Steve gave? Because the $40 would be more than the cost of AP #79.
Or do I completely misunderstand.
Basically I just want to place an order so that I get both the big discount, AND start my subscription with AP #79.

The Pathfinder Advantage discount doesn't go live until your very first subscription shipment leaves from our warehouse. You'll want to place two separate orders to maximize your savings.
First you'll want to place an order for the Adventure Path subscription, setting it to start with Adventure Path #79. This will create a new shipping option when you submit the rest of your products in order #2. (Subscription products cannot benefit from the 12thman discount, so you aren't losing any savings from this)
Next up submit the rest of the products you want in a second order, make sure the 12thman discount is applied to this order to maximize savings. During the checkout process there should be a new shipping option called Add to Sidecart that you will want to select. Setting items to your sidecart will set them to ship with your next subscription shipment, which just so happens to be when your Pathfinder Advantage discount kicks in, granting you both the 15% Pathfinder Advantage discount as well as the 12thman discount at the same time.
This should also cause them to all be shipped together if possible, minimizing your shipping costs. :)
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Erik. I sent an email about my continued confusion.
I purchased AP subscription to start with #79. That purchase went through. I then added a bunch of books to my sidecart, and selected them to ship with my subscription. But I don't see any discounts applied.
Furthermore I noticed this text on the website for subscriptions:
"Any items ordered at the same time as your subscription, and any orders placed before that volume is shipped, do not qualify for the discount."
So I went to cancel the sidecart to re-order after my subscription shipped. But I can't.
Honestly, this seems entirely too confusing ;)
The attraction of the subscription is the savings, but I've spent so much time trying to figure out how to get those savings . . . I mean at some point it would have saved me money and time to just buy them from Amazon.
So, I contacted customer service to see if they could help. I assume it will get worked out but just some feedback - this is a lot of customer friction to use the subscriber benefits.

Greetings again D6 Veteran!
I just took a look at the order and was able to discern what was causing the 12thman discount to not apply to your sidecart items. The code was only valid up until the 28th, which rendered it unavailable at the time the sidecart items were applied, it took me a bit to get back to you though, so I'd be glad to honor the discount for you.
I've manually applied the discount code, and the total for this months shipment should now be properly taking the discount into effect. Sorry for the extra stress D6. We take our customer service pretty seriously, so if you ever have trouble with our website just let us know. :)
