ive up until now, gotten my adventure packs locally or through ebay or something, but am now pondering the ongoing subscription, but there is no details on it that I can see on how it works, in my cart it just looks like, hey, you are buying this cheaper than you could already and youll get free promos too, and it only shows the options for the 3rd pack and 4th as a pre order, is that all I do is pay for it that way? there is no special parts to it, like committing to buy them all or anything like that? more details would be greatly appreciated

When you start a subscription you will be signed up to receive all the adventure decks and promo cards associated with PACG moving forward. The cost of shipping for me tends to be a wash with the discount paizo offers. You may cancel your subscription at any time if you no longer want to receive products associated with PACG (such as the next Skulls and Shackles base set and adventure decks) - there is no cancellation fee or anything like that. Very user friendly, and customer service is excellent if you have any specific questions.

There's no long-term commitment with any of our subscriptions. Every time we release a new product in the line, we send it to you at the discounted price (plus whatever the cost is for the shipping method you select), and it continues until you tell us to stop. And PACG subscribers get free promo cards, and a 20% discount on UltraPro PACG accessories (so far, that means the player mats they've made).

Any idea how long the shipping takes on these? I've pre-ordered stuff before and it doesn't usually get shipped till release date or after and then it has to travel over hill, dale and ocean. By the time it gets to me, it's usually been in stores for a few weeks.
I'm interested in subscribing for the promo's, but shipping cancels out the discount and then makes it only about $1-$2 cheaper than the shops.
If I knew I'd be receiving it within a week or two of release I'd probably subscribe and then not have to worry about the shops being sold out :D

They aim to get subscribers their copies around street date, however that's not guaranteed (and hasn't been achieved in the last few shipments). Having said that, I usually receive my subscription shipments within a week of street date (I'm in Australia and generally use priority shipping - international subscribers utilising the cheaper shipping methods are likely to be closer to a fortnight behind, I'd guess).
They nearly always ship subscription copies prior to street date, so it will at least be on the way by the time it shows up in stores.

One other thing to consider: I've not been subscribing because of the "wash" in cost and the ability to get it shipped faster to the east coast and free as an Amazon Prime member. But my friend is a subscriber. We recently contacted customer service and they told us that we could double his subscription to get two copies (promo cards included). For the decks at least (since we weren't specifically asking about the base set) the price for shipping was not increased for shipping 2 as opposed to shipping one, effectively cutting shipping in half for each of us. I'm assuming that you could probably add a 3rd or 4th copy as well with little to no increase in shipping. So if you have a friend or group who is also subscribing, you could combine to share and reduce shipping cost. Yeah, you loose the cool little tag under your screen name that you are a subscriber, but you save a couple bucks to do so.
That is what I'm planning on doing starting with Skull and Shackles.

Good to hear Steve as I am in Australia as well
Bear in mind that international priority shipping is not cheap if getting it quickly is important. I had my latest sub shipped standard mail and got it on the 6th of January (though that's still quicker than my FLGS, so I guess that counts as early).
