"Legendsbane" from Mythic Adventures too weak to be useful?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Topic. It seems pretty good except the fact that it casts "Locate Creature". This is a very low level spell that seems pitifully weak when compared to the rest of the artifacts powers. This is supposed to be a MAJOR artifact. "Locate Creature" is only useful within about 100 feet. That's not very useful when, by the time you'd have this artifact, you'd be looking half a world away for foes. My thinking is that the spell is supposed to be "Discern Location", which is far more powerful and useful. Thoughts?

Its a minor ability of the item, and while yes it's low level (4th isn't that low level) it is at will, which balances things. Once you get it half the creatures you will want to track will be able to fool the spell, or find running water, but keep in mind not everyone protects themselves against divination magic, especially if they think there is no reason to do so.

The range limit is pretty pathetic, though, wouldn't you say? At best, you might be detecting out to 1200 feet unless you play deep into epic levels as well. Just seems pretty useless. If the enemy is within 1200 feet, you're already pretty close.

Wouldn't Discern Location be better for "tracking a mythic creature you know"? It would seem to fit the flavor better in my opinion. I guess I'll just house rule it.
