Hey all,

I am making a Thassilonian Specialist. I have a few questions regarding how it interacts with the normal wizard mechanics and with the archtype rules.

1) Thassilonian specialist gets 2 spell per slot to spend on specialized school spell and both slots must be filled with the same spell. Is this in addition to the normal 1 extra slot or is this in replacement of said slot?

2) Thassilonian Specialist picks a school of magic to specialize in. Do they get the powers/abilities associated with that school

3) Thassilonian Specialist is listed as a Variant Magic in Inner Sea Magic. Can I combine Thassilonian Specialist with another wizard archtype?

3. Yes. Thassilonian specialist does not overlap abilities altered by any other archetype.

4. Consider the Opposition Research discovery.

3. Thassilonian Specialist changes the "Arcane School" ability of wizards, and would not be eligible to combine with any other archetype that modifies that class feature.

On point 3, technically the Thassilonian Specialist isn't an archetype as it is never referred to as such within the Inner Sea World Guide. Archetypes are in a different section of that book.

However, since the arcane school class ability is modified I would treat it as an archetype for combining it with archetypes that also modify the arcane school ability, i.e. you cannot do so. For PFS especially I wouldn't combine it with something else that modifies the arcane school as that's just putting yourself in a position for your character to become invalid. This is one of those things where it might not say so explicitly, but the common sense interpretation seems pretty clear (to me at least).

Would this be a good way to emulate the Wizards of High Sorcery from Dragonlance?

Petty sure thassilonian specialist is illegal for PFS anyhow.
