Building The Builder

Advice

So with ultimate campaign everyone seems to be kingdom building, naturally. So I had this train of thought:

Everyones building kingdoms > The builders union of Golarion must be working overtime (sardonic) > What would make the best "builder" character.

Now I know Golarion is not being built in a day, but is an established setting with new rules. However, I still thought "The Builder" was an interesting idea.

1) So I want to build a character who specializes in building stuff (buildings, devices, etc). My first instinct was a transmuter wizard. However, I think the right cleric build could almost be better. Dwarf race works thematically. I imagine a lot of stonework (above ground and below) will be involved. However, if we're min/maxing Human is probably the way to go. I was mostly thinking of building mundane things, but the magic additions could be covered easily with craft wondrous and perhaps another item creation feat for making building tools such as Staves or Rods. So what do you think?

2) Also, what spells and/or abilities would be most useful? Wall of stone, Wall of Iron spring to mind. Polymorph any object (though subject to dispel could still be useful). Wish and lesser wish of course for the catch all creation stuff.

3) I wonder if you could rebuild entire castles or even sections of city with a wish? The whole city? Lets say there was a battle and much damage was done. Would one wish be able to fix all the mundane damages?

This is a very open ended conversation. I was just wondering what the community thought.

it depends on level of play. leadership (and thus charisma) can be important, but not essential.

in general, you want to find a way to create revenue. the ROI of different rooms will be significant, as will the need for labor in order to use many of these features.

Fabricate will be a very useful spell, as it would be allow a caster with knowledge:engineering to quickly put together rooms using a fraction of their cost (bypassing labor). a lyre of building would also be useful.

the wish spell would not be terribly useful, as it would primarily be replicating the effects of fabricate at a much higher cost.

the feat 'false focus' would be VERY useful, as it removes the material cost for spells such as continual flame.

also, look at shadow conjuration for wall of stone. the creation of quasi-real stone can be very useful to the creative builder. specific effects may vary by GM.

For your wish question: theoretically yes, in practice almost never.

It would take extreme caution (not to mention extraordinary sentence structure) to word a wish to rebuild a city. If your GM is mean, it will never work, but if you're careful, and your GM willing, it could happen.

go read the new 'quests and campaigns' book. it has new feats and spells to go with the downtime and building rules.

wizards get a couple of buff spells, a transmutation, and a building teleport.

and for a wish.... i can see an efreet using it as an excuse to build an outpost for the city of brass on the prime material. be VERY careful with those wishes.
