And maybe to create some discussion... Who are your top 8 thus far based on all 3 rounds thus far? Be sure to include why! LEt's eep this thread positive feedback only, I think all the top 16 have put in some great work so far and everyone deserves to be in the top 16...

For me in no particular order the best overall designers to this point are:

Clay Blankenship: ITs impressive to me that the cobra hood cloak and the skinchanger witch came from the same designer, those were both rockstar entries. Thoughtstealer ooze is just a little outside my top 8 in the monster round, but not by much, it was close...

Michael Pruess: tree frog gloves were elegantly designed and the Egelsee Cocktail balances weird and cool. Your archetype wasn't my cup of tea but it had some really cool powers and I definately saw t as top 16.

Joseph Kellogg: I didn't think I'd like your stuff based on the Shattered mirror of the insect queen, you turned me around with your Gralton Infiltrator and sealed my allegience with your iceroot devourer. I see you as a dark horse in the game, I could see you slying under the radar until you make the top 4 then exploding with awesome and winning this this, you know if you play your cards right. No pressure :p

Nicholas Herold: Might win the whole she-bang in my opinion. Gorget of living whispers was awesome, huckster is a favorite archetype for many, and the Caliban is absolutely fun and he had the stones to go for the CR2. This guy might have given Neil for a run, keep it up!

Matthew Duval: Is another contender for the crown in my eyes. Seer's soap was middling in the top 32 for me but you've picked up momentum with your everbloom monk and blackwood drake. You're getting better each round which makes you one to watch out for in my eyes.

Steven Helt: I absolutely love your work, I'm not sure you're going to survive the round as some are not as into your Dead fall Dweller as I am but you quicksand claok is still something to be proud of, I wasn't into your witch but I love your evil sneaky spider! Best of luck.

Maurice de Mare: Sash of the Salty seas was awesome, I am in the strong like camp onn your leechlorn and while your Wandering Judge was not a favorite of mine, I also am biased against the Inquisitor class so mixing their powers to a ranger was doomed with me personally. While I'm pulling for you I can see it going wither way you have mixed reviews this round, if you make it to next round try and bring the challenge more into your wheelhouse.

Sam Harris: This is a weird pick for me... I didn't vote for you in round 2 or 3 so why am I mentioning you here? Because you are the only designer with a clear voice and I'm giving you the nod for that reason. You might fall down a little inexecution in my eyes but you clearly like sneaky items, archetypes, and monsters and I can appreciate that.

I'm not changing my round three votes, but I will consider the whole body of work from round 4 on. BEst of luck to all of you.

Right now I have Herold and Duval as favorites to win. They've been consistent every round.

Pruess has, to my mind, stepped up his game in each round, and may become the favorite if that trend continues.

As a few wildcards, I have de Mare, Fernandez, and Bell on the radar as possible breakouts. If they make it to the next round, any of those three have the potential to step it up.

I'm hoping Kowalke survives a misstep with his monster, his first two rounds were solid.

Oikarinen has potential too. I think he's gotten better each round, but not at the speed that Pruess has.

There are plenty of solid designers this year, but only three I see pulling ahead of the pack. As of this round, they are:

1. Nicholas Herold. Best wondrous item in the competition. Best archetype in the competition. Best monster in the competition. Unless he drops the ball in later rounds, Nicholas is the designer to beat this year, and could give any previous winner a run for his or her money.

2. Michael Pruess. One of the eight best wondrous items. One of the four best archetypes. One of the four best monsters. Aside from Nicholas, the only designer I'll have voted for in all of the first three rounds this year. He's performing as well or better than last year's winner.

3. Matthew Duval. One of the sixteen best items. One of the sixteen best archetypes (just shy of earning my eighth vote in Round 2). One of the monsters I'll be voting for in Round 3, despite a few minor errors. He definitely has the potential to take the lead in Round 4.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to jump on the Nicolas Herold bandwagon. The guy has been in my top three every round, if not best of class bar none.

I'll have to come back after I finish giving the monsters one more lookover then vote tonight, and fill out my other seven.
