Gnomish Adventures Kickstarter

Hey y'all:

I wanted to draw your attention to a new Kickstarter by Stonehaven Miniatures. These guys are pretty new. They ran a Kickstarter this past summer for Dwarven Adventurers that went through the roof. I paid $56 bucks and got a whole box of very creative dwarf miniatures. Not only that, but they got me my Kickstarter goodies on time, with no hassle or drama. Not something I have seen from most Kickstarters I have backed.

So now they are doing Gnomish Adventures and again, this Kickstarter is getting to be a very good deal! I am in at $39 currently and already I am getting 10 miniatures and some other stuff, including a bits sprue, a die and some character sheets. There are a few more things to unlock at my pledge level. In any case, I figured that I would let you guys know about this cool Kickstarter! Still 25 days to go, so I expect this deal to get better and better.

Ah man I never even saw the Dwarven Adventurers KS. Those look fantastic. I will have to jump in on the Gnomish Adventurers bandwagon. Thanks for the heads up!

Joined day 1 and now i'm at $52. I got the dwarves and can attest to their quality. Get these! They will be a bit smaller than the dwarves (which were definitely smaller than Reaper dwarves, bigger than Red Box dwarves) but the style is incredible! Plus, automaton is freaking amazing.

Also, Lisa, technically, you're getting 12 minis for your $39! 5 gnomes in each set, plus the automaton in set 1 and the hawk in set 2 ;)

I really like the concept art for these guys. They don't look like halflings. They are distinct and awesome. If their final minis are half as good, I will be happy. I wish I got in on those dwarf minis now.

I can say that the guy doing the concepts and doing the sculpting are the same guy, so he knows exactly how to make what he draws. The dwarves went from concept to green with hardly any changes at all (some of which were necessary for casting and clarity). Basically, what you see is what you'll get :D

You can now buy the Dwarven miniatures from their webstore. I assume the Gnomes (and what they'll do next) will be available there in the future too.

And of course, for those who think well I've got my Reaper Mini's coming - they didn't include any gnomes. But should be very interesting to see how many extra mini's they unlock; seems like they might be able to break the dwarf target.

In my experience, kickstarters from the same company that had successfully performed in the past and can advertize to their previous customers tend to beat the previous kickstarter total by ~50%, assuming the new product is about as popular in demand.

Three gnomes at vampire level.

Which ones?
Sorry, I honestly couldn't think of one amongst the goodness that was Reaper (other than maybe Lem).

But thanks for the correction.

Three gnomes and a halfling in 'half-sized heroes' (though the gnome bard looks more like another halfling), plus Lem, plus Cassie in the initial 30.

I already have several Reaper gnomes in metal (to represent an NPC party that my players will encounter soon), so I'll only be pledging to this once I see the first greens and see how well the proportions match.

Ooh, I missed some.

I still think this is an awesome KS and I may well back it.

You can see how the minis from their other Kickstarter turned out, both from concept art to finished green and in comparison with a couple of other minis from other companies, here.

You can also see larger images of the greens here.
It's the same sculptor and concept artist, Mike Evans, working on both projects.

I know, and from what I can see the dwarves were every bit as flavourful as the concept art, but slightly less exaggerated in mini form. Which is what I'm hoping for with the gnomes, the heads and ears are a bit too oversized for my liking in the concepts.

Either way, they have promised to have pictures of at least some greens up before the end of the Kickstarter, and I've zlready paid for the Midgard kickstarter and far too many other minis this month, so I'm happy to wait a bit on this one.

I'm kind of on wait-and-see with these too. When I first got the dwarves I was a little disappointed with the detail level and finish, but after spending a little time cleaning and priming them I'm remembering why I really liked them. Lots of character in the final minis but they take a good bit more cleaning up that I've gotten used to.

I really hope the ears are exactly as exagerated as they appear. I love the idea that these gnomes actually don't look like tiny humans.

I'm definitely in on these, only heard good things about Stonehaven and the dwarves looked great. Somebody tell Liz that there is now a gninja!

Just got started with paint and prep on the dwarves, for an idea of how much whimsey these guys bring to the table, here is the troll from the dwarf set. (Linky to Ogre paints). Obviously I exaggerated the whimsical side of this guy by using some more fun paints, but sometimes a mini just begs to be painted in neon green with an orange beard.

I'm in at the 52$ level. I want that gnome monk to get unlocked so badly!

@Dennis: That's a fun paint job! I went with a light green skin as well.

Here is mine. He was such a fun guy to paint :D

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, Contributor

@recruits Nice!

You went a bit more serious than I did. Still a long shot from a warhammer mini.

Thanks! I think, from Stonehaven, the mini I had the most fun with was the bard.

Here he is. I did him up like all of the leathers were dyed funky colors. I figured that was more bardly ;)

The first Green is up, the gnome wizard - he's all beard. Which is alright, I do like the staff though.

And there is opportunity to buy the last of the Trolls from the dwarven project - like Dennis & recruit tons painted. But supplies are limited.

There is also a new armoured troll for this KS.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, Contributor

Another Troll! Damn... willpower to resist is slipping.

Yep. This new troll is freaking awesome looking. My troll from the last project will now have a young friend to stomp on tiny peoples with!

Huzzah monk!

So the only left thing to unlock in Knobstreet is the Assassin in about 3.2k.

Up next after that is the 70k unlock, which happens to be ONE FULL SET, Lord Regional's Retinue. This set contains a knight on armored wolf (detachable models), a scrap bot, a gardener, shrouded figure, knight on foot, aristocrat, and a tinker!

After that is the gnome lady pirate, followed by the viking, bard, ranger, and undead (plus 3 undisclosed familiars)!

That's brilliant news about the whole set being available to unlock. It means hopefully there should get all 5 sets unlocked.

But Gnome Ninja (well assassin), is unlocked - thus finishing the 3rd set. Brilliant!

Now only $500, to unlock 3 familiars.

Familiars achieved! Up next is the full Lord Regional's Retinue :D

Wow, so they have blown through that Stretch. Put in some new Backer levels. Blown through some more stretch goals; including familiars (Jackalope, Ferret & small dragon) and well onto the 5th and final set of gnomes that includes - Viking, Pirate, an amazing undead and a Bard.

Anyway as well as that there's the some more greens up. I think these show the other worldliness better than the wizard (although that's a lovely model).

I can not open the FAQ at the bottom (My IE at work is an old version). Can someone tell me what the difference is between the $90 package and the $120? I see some riding bat and 3 legged goat and rider are in the $120. Thanks

In the FAQ.

  • Female Rider + 3 Legged Goat Mount w/ a 4th Mechanical Leg

  • Cloaked Rider + Bat Mount

  • A d20

  • A Gnome Children Sprue + Tombstone (2 kids, 1 baby, & tombstone)

  • Another bit sprue

  • A few additional figures (including one that will be a community pick! Yar!)

The last one is the most important as it will probably increase as they hit more stretch goals. The Children sprue may have to be unlocked, but at the rate they are going $100k should be surpassed.

The community pick, seems to be potentially either, vampire, werewolf or an illusionist - by the comments section, but will hopefully be revealed soon.

  • And now they have some drawings of the Bat & Rider, the Goat & Rider. As well as the having completed all 5 sets of gnomes.

There's a green up of the Archer, what do people think?

    Sovereign Court

I'm umming and aahing over this one: lovely stuff but I can't decide how much to drop on it or what to get.

The greens are good, mahussive arrowhead though.

Yeah, I can see that. The bow does look like the arrow is over-sized, and the pose does remind me of some of the old GW models - which although were nice, you tended to have ranks of them.

The arrow is oversized, but the stance is great. Its exactly how someone would be standing shooting a bow.

Gnome illusionist and Gnome Hoplite (Oh my). That looks amazing, in it's action pose. With some luck we should be able to unlock it.

I have changed my pledge six times during this Kickstarter and finally said, screw it all, and went for the Completionist level. Well played Stonehavn! Well played!

    Sovereign Court

That Reaper/Stonehaven paint party is going to be awesome!

I've decided not to sign up though: I'm going into minis purdah; no more buying until the Reaper KS minis are painted.

I threw in for the first $52 level when I first saw it, and am really trying hard to decide if I want to go for the 90 or the 120 now.

Well, I have only switched a couple of times (upto Completionist). But it looks like that'll be the level that's 'best-value' unsurprisingly.
I ♥ the unconcious gnome, that'll be perfect for when I attack the PC's camp at night. ;)

I do like the way the creators are taking responses and requests for Mini's hence the Hoplite Gnome. And that the may make the riders interchangable.

I supported the Dwarf set, and got the complete set plus Troll and...I think maybe one other add-on. They are fantastic quality in both concept and execution, but I'll never get around to painting them and it's highly unlikely I'll ever use them as is. So now they languish in their shipping box. I probably should try to find them a good home with someone else.

That's the only thing keeping me from backing the Gnome set as well, despite the fact that I really don't care for gnomes to begin with...and even with that I had to think about it.

    Good job, Stonehaven.

Well good news Damon, there is a Kobold with Wings from when they hit the $100k mark.

Of course, now it's starting to fly with a scholar, illusionist, scout and cook being added to the completionist option.

And now you can order individual mini's too, with any option of $30 or more.

So the bonus completionist extra's are:
    •Female Rider + 3 Legged Goat Mount w/ a 4th Mechanical Leg
    •Cloaked Rider + Bat Mount
    •A d20

  • Armoured Troll
  • Unconcious Gnome
  • Scholar
  • Illuisionist
  • Hoplite
  • Scout
  • Chef
  • Dragonwraught MageLord

  • Now only a few hours (5) to go:
and the chef & the baby and kids have been unlocked.
