If you are thinking about playing in a PFS-approved AP, just gaining the Advanced template for an entire sanctioned volume is probably the most efficient use of the boon.
Not really; I don't need any boon to play PFS-approved portions of an AP using any character build I like (subject only to GM approval), and still end up with a chronicle that can be applied to a different PFS-legal character.
Neither character builds nor table rules are required to be PFS-legal to earn a chronicle when running the PFS-approved portions of an AP.WalterGM RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 8 |

They are if you play alongside PFS characters while doing so. Although I guess if you're doing an entire AP they likely arent PFS characters...
But for clarification, either everyone plays by the homebrew rules or everyone plays by PFS rules in a sanctioned AP to get credit. And of the AP section that I ran for PFS credit, my players wanted to continue playing their PFS legal characters, rather than make some disposable drone to mindlessly slog through some fights.
Also, I wouldn't have GM'd it even if they had wanted to do that. I'm not a 'fight-moderator,' I'm a game master. This isn't WoW.

(I think you mean "home game" rules, not "homebrew" rules)
I'm actually running RotRL as a home game at present. When we get to the PFS-approved section of "Burnt Offerings" I suspect I've got at least one player who would like to earn the chronicle, so I'll probably report it to Paizo.
While I believe all the characters are, technically, PFS-legal (although underpowered - they're built as 15-point characters, rather than the 20 point build PFS uses), and I'm running pretty much a straight by-the-Pathfinder-rulebook game, I do exercise a little more GM fiat that I would if running strictly to PFS rules. The characters started at level 1 (and have just made it to level 2), and will (dice willing) probably make it to something like 17th level by the end of the AP. They're not built to be disposable drones, but realistically there's not much chance for a character that completes a full AP having a real future in PFS.

Have I missed something ? Because I don't know if I've gotten my boon or not ?
Hi Slimguage, Doing a quick search of the forums, netted me this lovely little gem in which the information is given by Mark Morlenad about half a page down
