The Necropolis - Day - Late Morning - Tomb Day One

Goblin Gus and Sleet storm have the feeling of being thrown up incredibly fast through the light. wind rushing around you but it is quiet. As if the sound is very far off, but getting closer as you race toward it.

Then suddenly there is a floor green marble floor inlaid with a lattice of golden metal and you land on it hard enough to stumble. You are alone in a 20' circular room. Looking around you see that you are in a tower. The windows are covered in a golden looking latticework that gives off a soft light that illuminates the room and a single staircase leading up out of the room.

Beyond the window you see smoke raising from something massive and terrifying that is clinging to the side of a tower and spreading along the walls of the various towers. Far below it you can hear the chants and war cries of warriors fighting. The tower is part of what looks like a massive fortress raising into clouds of smoke the fill the sky. Below you see massive shapes forming and raising along the side of the towers.

Looking up you see the ceilings are all woven metal latticework. It only hold shards of glass the rest of it is covering the floor.

What do you do?

I prebuffed before I touched the Mark the Buffs are Listed in my profile.The only thing that has changed is that I have not cast displacement since I don´t have the Ring of Continuation anymore

Hastur slams on the floor and gasps in pain as he gets up,luckily he doesn´t seem to be injured. Aaargh... what a great start for this,looking out of the winow at the gigantic thing hanging at the side of the tower makes him shudder.What the hell...this does not look good, I better prepare myself
I take my rod of extend in my hand and use it to cast Displacement,then I cast Mirror Image without using the rod and move up the stairs.

Aha you are right the collumns are 30ft and the trees are 10ft high its on the left side at the bottom of the map

Still can´t see anything I move to U11 and then go higher to 25ft.

It looks as if you are 90 feet away, increasing the dc to see each other by +9. I'm not sure if your hiding or invis though.

I´m not stealthing and I´m not invisible but I am still not sure about line of sight. What I can say though is that if we have line of sight and you have any spells active or magic items I can spot your aura automatically regardless of stealth and Invisibilty .

Which ability gives you that? The only thing I can see is detect magic, and I'd have to be in the cone, and you would discover my location (but still not see me) of the 3rd round. And you would hae to cast it. Of course, it could be something I'm not seeing.

Alone except of the breaking glass and faint sounds of battle down in the darkness. It takes you a few minutes to reach the top.

The heralds voice echos. "To advance you must defeat your opponent. Only blood will open the gate."

His voice fades with the sound of a chuckle.

Both of you emerge from the archway and see a round room over 100 feet across. the ceiling is a lattice of golden metal 30 feet above you held up by pillars of marble. The flickering of the setting sun bathes the room in long shadows behind the pillars. The entire ceiling seems to have held glass but it is now covering the floor. Trees, 10 foot tall, grow in the scattered bits of earth that cover parts of the floor. In the center of the room is a pool of water with a statue of a woman that is 15' high. they remind you of a fountain although no water is coming out of the statue.

Across from both of you is another archway with a gate. The gate is closed but you can see it leads to another staircase going up.

To your side is another archway but the pillars and trees obscure your view of it. You can't see anyone from this position.

Well I shouldn´t want you to know that, but I will give you a hint:

It starts with Permanent and ends with Arcane Sight:)

Ooops, I´ve just noticed that the trees aren´t even directly blooking Line of sight between us so you can see me and I can see your aura , your turn

EDIT and I forgot to roll for Mirror Image 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6


You can see the aura of the spells and know thier location, you still can't see me (but you know what square I am in). If the GM rules it differently I won't argue his ruling.
However, you didn't pay the correct price on arcane sight. You have it listed as 8375.
The scroll (which I assumed you bought and used with UMD) cost 1,125. the spell made permenant cost 7,500. 7,500 + 1,125 = 8,625. I would say you don't have permenant Arcane sight.

Stealth = 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (6) + 31 = 37 add the +1 per 10' to the DC to your perception check with GM rule of diagnal = 10'

I´ve just added the cost for all my gear togheter and recognized that I´m 6000something over the limit.I fixed that by decrasing the enhancement of both my Amulet of Natural Armor and my Mithral Buckler to +2.
Sorry for that but I had to change my gear around quite a lot due to the Ring of Continuation debacle.

BTW that drops my AC by two

Ahem if you are at F9 now we definately shouldn´t be able to see each other the tree stump at L10 and the tree you hide behind should block sight for both of us even while I´m at 25ft.But I woud like to hear the GM about this.

Gus clicks his heels to activate boots of speed as a free action (+1 ac, +1 reflex save, +1 to attack. Then he shoots using deadly aim

Obstacles block both way. the cover goes to the person next to the object but flying above the tree hides you from view as much as it would have hidden gus from view if you didn't have arcane sight.

I move to K9 and draw my Scythe, and since you already rolled your save for the next round I make a Coup de GraceI love killing goblins

Coup de Grace: 8d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2) = 15 damage and the damage+10 as a fort save DC or die you know the drill.

great fight
Gus feels the blade bite into his neck as Hustar takes his life. For a moment there is intense pain then a suffocating feeling of being trapped. Locked in your corpse. But then there is a burning sensation from your hand. The hand that touched the rune.

Hustar stands over the slain goblin his blood on his blade when the rune raises from Gus' body. A glow spreads across the body and lifts it into the air. With a clap of thunder the body and rune disappear from sight.

The rushing returns along with the pain as the rune seems to reknit your body and return it to life. With a sudden stop you land on the rocky ground of the cliffs from which it all started. You have returned. With a blast of wind your bat lands next to you. chirping and licking you. happy to see you.

It is morning and the sea is calm.

The herald is gone but his crystal obelisk remains though dull and lifeless. You survive to fight another day...

Hustar blinks away the light and looks around. The closed gate beckons. He remembers the Heralds words. That blood is the key. His blade covered in the goblins blood is now the key to the next tower.
