What speaks Treant?

Advice

Other then the obvious, Treants, is there any other race that commonly speaks Treant?

Silver Crusade

I did not even know they have their own language. I would have guessed they speak Sylvan.

And now that I look in the Beastiary, it appears that they are fluent in Sylvan, but they have their own language, too. Interesting.

One of my players wants to speak Treant is why I ask. I'm trying to find some way of rewarding him for knowing a unique language but can't find ANY other race that speaks it?

Would it be broken to say plants know Treant so he can talk with plants?

Depends on what type of player he is, I can see speaking with plants getting pretty out of hand but if he's not the type to take advantage then I would guess it wouldn't hurt

yes

Talking with plants is usually only possible through magic. I would not allow it in general. Or rather, I'd not allow them to pass any information to the player. If it's limited to trees and one-way communication it's a cute little perk, but if they can somehow answer there are issues.

Though, one-way communication might be interesting. The player could tell a tree something, and if a druid with speak with plants come along the tree could relay the information. And should they happen upon a haunted forest (the classic "grabbing trees" kind), maybe the player could use diplomacy to keep the trees' from harassing them.

I believe Loraxes speak for the trees. Perhaps they speak Treant?

Less tongue in cheek, I believe Entish was understood by Huorns (wild animated plants) in Tolkien, and probably Leshys might also speak the language. So I'd go with the plants thing. It might be redundant with the spell speak with plants, though, so I'd caution that would only be usuable with plants that normally can understand language, not others. Green Dragons are another possibility, given that they can create Treants.

You might just want to tell the player to take Sylvan instead.

Treat is also known as High Druidic. Druidic is in fact Low Druidic. (Sorry druids.)

The scythe tree and the tobongo (jungle treant) both speak Treant.

I wonder if the Whomping Willow speaks Treant.

I'm sure there's an order of Monks somewhere that speak Treant.
