This question must be asked a lot, and I don't know if this is the right section of the message board, so I apologize in advance, but I'm looking for the tool that was used to generate this character sheet.
I've seen this format with other characters linked around here, so I was hoping someone could help me. I'm also open to suggestion to other tool, something that I can use to keep track of effects and whatnot during a session.
Thanks a lot.
I am suspecting it is, but I've been trying to find Hero Lab outputs to compare and I haven't been able to find any similar to this one that are explicitly stated to be Hero Lab outputs. The ones I've found (that are explicitly stated to be Hero Lab outputs) are from old versions and look different.
I downloaded the Demo version of Hero Lab to confirm but it doesn't have the Output Hero Statblock available, and I don't really want to pay the price of the program just based on a hunch.
I tried the Hero Lab version for the Beginner Box and the output statblocks aren't similar the ones I've linked. Unless one can modify them somehow I don't think it was made on Hero Lab.
If anyone can direct me to the tool that generated the one I linked, I'd be deeply grateful.
There are some details that make me pretty sure it started its life as a Hero Lab statblock output - for example some weird capitalization patterns that look like our inconsistant capitalization patterns, and the fact that "hp" is not capitalized when every other header is capitalized really clinches it, but I think it's been heavily edited by hand after output, then transferred from text to pdf - we can't currently generate the superscript APG that you see in the spells list, for example.
(the capitalization issues are already on our bug list for improving the statblock).
I'm sorry to say that this sort of prettying up of out current statblock output is something we want to be able to generate, but we have not had the time to make those improvements.
Here's the BBCode version of the statblock output from Hero Lab for one of my characters:

I see. That's a possibility worth contemplating.
Here's a question though, I can only test the Output Hero Statblock feature of the Beginner Box version, because the Demo has it grayed out, but does it differ from the Demo one? I ask because the statblock I generated has some minor differences, like only listing the ability modifiers rather than their total score or not explicitly listing size or race.
Also, does any version include the portrait from the personal tab on the statblock? Or is that a manual modification?
Can I, assuming I have the content purchased of course, manually add a single feat from the APG while not making any other options available (if my GM for example only allowed me to take a single feat outside of the core rulebook, and I don't want the clutter). Can I modify or add entries to the outputted statblock (like describing the character's arcane bond item or other items in their possession, or even an entry for relationships or organizations ran by the character) or would I need to do that by hand?
Thanks a lot for your time.
There are differences between the statblocks between the purchased version and the beginner box version - what I've posted above is the version of the statblock from the purchased version - the goal in each case is to match how statblocks are presented in that version of the Pathfinder game.
Statblocks in HL don't have portrait options. The full character sheets do, though (even in demo mode, you can look at the print preview in order to look at the full character sheet).
Using APG content or not is an all or nothing choice, I'm sorry to say. The closest you could come to that is to turn on the APG only at the very end of character creation, so that up until then, you're not seeing any APG content.
The statblock output defaults to text (and has options for html, rich text, bbcode, or wikitext), so you could add any text you wanted if you copy the statblock that's generated into a text editor and then started working.
Gotcha, I've been eyeing Hero Lab for a while and it looks like a pretty robust and versatile tool, not to mention that it's very intuitive and easy to use, so I will be picking it up soon. While it would be ideal if the aforementioned modification and customization options were already implemented, it's evident you guys are committed to consistently improving your product. I think that's commendable and I congratulate you for it.
