Cavalier Or Druid

Advice

Dark Archive

For PFS I have a Tengu Gunslinger. I would like to have the axe beak from quest for perfection as a mount/companion. I need the appropriate class feature to use the axe beak. I figure a one level dip in Druid or Cavalier would be best. With Druid, I lose a point of BAB, but I could forgo metal armor and use Cure Light Wounds.

Just wondering what the best route would be. Thanks.

I guess it would depend on what kind of Battle you will be doing. I had a straight cavalier and he was epic when it came to mounted combat/charging from mount. I think if you're gonna be a gunlinger than it may be better to go druid. Mounted combat is great, but i think its more useful if your doing melee damage.

druids are good boosters, and i think that'll give you a little bit better of a advantage. the other thing is doing ranged combat from a mount can give you some pretty heafty penalties.

Possible to do both? role play atop it and not when in combat?

I think, weirdly enough, the druid will actually synergize a bit better with your gunslinger levels than the cavalier will. You lose the ability to wear a chain shirt, but not much else, and get some healing and summoning to compensate.

Your mount will be pretty bad either way if you multiclass. Outside of PFS (You lose expert trainer and can't qualify in PFS) Cavalier 5+ Horse Master would be viable.
