Need some ideas for future character

Homebrew and House Rules

Been brainstorming about a character whom was cursed/transformed/experimented on to be turned into a biped ratman. I m playing it that he use to set rats free in peoples houses and then offer to come in and get rid of em. He would steal or loot while in there. Now he got caught be a wizard/Sorcerer/Cleric Mad that used him as the aboved and figured it be a lesson. Now giving his new visage he get cast aside by society and shun from cities since he resembles that of a vicious ratman think Skaven or the rat race from the old oriental adventures. So giving he has to hide and I think he will end up in the sewers (forgotten realm world) I m trying to think of what would turn him into wanting to leave the sewers or prove himself that he is not evil. I know he might search out others if he was the end resort of experiments. he might even be a packrat since he been so long with no possessions .

What are your thoughts about it and the key thing here is Shun from Society, Monsterous Humanoid.

Anyone out there.

so he is ratfolk huh, i think a pied piper bard type might be fun too.

I think he will be more along the lines a custom type ratman cause he will have a base race that was altered.

I thought about that giving him the rat pipes. I think we are gonna give him a natural ability to communicate with rats.

I haven't got a class pick out for him. I m doing this concept for 3.5 and pathfinder as I play both.

I think I m gonna do a dex based character that is quick with the hands. I was just asking the community for some brainstorm since many heads are better than one :)

how about you post your new race, couldn't hurt with the brainstorming. but while i am thinking would you be willing to play the same character for different classes? 3.5 has some stuff pathfinder hasn't converted and vice versa.

It all depends on the class some just might not fit. I was trying to see giving his mindset of rejection and such where he might turn to. A bard i keep seeing as too upbeat and cheerful unless there was a darker way of doing it. His out look consist of being force to live outside society and possible sewer cast out. I think he eventually gets thrown into events that cause him to step up and become a adventurer or hero.

rouge seems to fit then, but still would like to see some modifiers.

If we use Oriental Adv. then its +2 con -2 Cha. I m building the concept and then moving to statistics

interesting i always loved Oriental Adventures love to see what you end up with. by the by you doing clans? if so that could definately factor into flavor.

Check out the race building rules in the Advanced Races Guide.

As for class and abilities - how will he fit into the campaign? What are the other players playing? What is the GM running?

Right now its 3.5 Forgotten Realms. I told him of the character concept about how he gets altered into a ratman of some kind and he suggested using the stats from Oriental Adv. We got a Heavy hitter and ranged.
Was really wanting to put my mind in the mindset of the character and go from there for Class choice and perspective.

Here are some loose ideas:

1. The wizard didn't just turn him into a ratman, as a cruel twist on your characters con he devoted a certain amount of resources to chasing you away from society -- i.e., out of homes, just like the rat con you previously pulled. Even in scenarios where you could get acceptance on the outskirts of society the wizards hirelings always caught up with you and defamed, or outright chased you back into hiding. During this endless persecution, you developed true remorse for the people you harmed, as time and again you were forced to relive a twisted aspect of your crimes. This artistic punishment was supposed to go on forever... but eventually the hunting stopped. The hirelings stopped getting paid, and soon after stopped looking for you. You're not sure (GM and/or you're discretion) but you think the wizard may have finally died, or moved on, or figured you'd had enough.

Figuring you've done your time in the sewer, you've vowed to do good or provide value in equal measure to what you had taken away from others when you once were a man.

2. The Chaotic Wizard that punished you was since smited by a good wizard who was his long-time rival and enemy. Sworn to eradicate all vestiges of his former enemies magic, he eventually tracked you down as one of the last remnants of his persistent magic. Rather than kill you, who had no love for he that transformed you, he took pity on you and gave you a place as his steward, and within a small range of his abode you were actually tolerated (perhaps even accepted) as an agent on his behalf. Once you had worked off your debt to society in his estimation (both in service to him, and by helping him aiding others) he decided to grant you schooling in a chosen profession (Your chosen class) ... then, with a little bit of gold, he bid you set off on your own to make your fortune, but always with the good in mind.

Let me know if either of these work for you.
