Ultimate Magic mentions "other domain-using nature-focussed classes" as potential users of Animal and Terrain domains. The sRD lists them as options for Clerics and Inquisitors. Are they legal for any Clerics or Inquisitors in Organized Play?

According to Ultimate Magic you can and nothing on the Additional Resources page says you can't. The problem here is that the domains are usually associated with a certain deity and these domains do not have that specifically called out.

A druid who worships a deity (as opposed to nature in general) cannot select an animal or terrain domain that contradicts or is outside of the portfolio of her deity.

Some are pretty obvious to me (Gozreh->Aquatic Domain), but well that's me. At this time, you have three options:

1) Wait and hope that Mike or Mark assign these domains to a deity (or someone finds them listed somewhere that I'm not aware of.
2) Avoid using these domains for a class that requires a deity
3) Use common sense in choosing these domains based on your deity. This option is a bit scary because I'd hate to see you put in dozens of hours with this character only to have a GM take issue with it and start a confrontation..

Follow-up question: How do I justify taking Wolf for Pharasma (or Magrim or Naderi)?

as far as animal domains go, there is a list by j jacobs on the boards somewhere of all the animals associated with tbe dieties. unfortunately convincing someone tbe whiperwill is a rare breed of wolf might be ddifficult.

Pharasma/Magrim: Cerebus?

Naderi: The wolf is in love with the alpha female of his pack, but cannot challenge successfully the alpha male for her paw in marriage.

I would say that barring having a Nature-themed Deity, neither Cleric nor Inquisitor are 'Nature Themed classes', which is equally important for using these Domains as having a Domain-Using Class. If your Deity is Nature-focused, then your Class becomes Nature-focused by extension. Otherwise, no.

The Inquisitor has a bonus to Tracking, but that is not really 'Nature themed' per se, it also applies in Cities and Dungeons, and doesn't even apply to Survival across the board.
Having Know: Nature and Survival as Class Skills doesn't really seem enough to qualify as 'Nature themed' to me.
The Cleric doesn't really have anything that could plausibly qualify as 'Nature themed'.

But if you took some Archetype that was clearly Nature-themed, either Class probably could qualify, regardless of Deity.

Druids can qualify if the do the Nature Bond instead of Animal Companion, from the Core Book:

Quote:
Nature Bond (Ex): At 1st level, a druid forms a bond with nature. This bond can take one of two forms. The first is a close tie to the natural world, granting the druid one of the following cleric domains: Air, Animal, Earth, Fire, Plant, Water, or Weather.

Animal is already on that list, and I would think that Terrain should be, but maybe it needs to be added through errata if UM does not already list it that way.

Edit: I just read up more on what UM has to say and a Druid still needs to take Nature Bond and then they can take one of the more specific Animal or Terrain domains in place of the ones listed from the Core Book.

As for your original quote from UM, I do not know of any other "nature-focused" classes that get domains other than the druid, so they may have just been covering their bases by putting that in there now for when they do add another class/prestige class/archetype that would qualify for it.

Also remember that UM is setting-neutral, so while in another setting you could make a concept cleric where you pick your own two domains, you cannot do that in Golarion, as all clerics are required to follow a patron deity.

I found a way: The Seperatist archetype lets you take any one domain, and the costs are negligible in this case.

Sorry for the Necro, but this seems to be a good place to ask.

Can a cleric of Erastil or Ketephys take an Animal or Terrain Domain from the Druid List. They are definately 'Nature Themed'.

Thread Necro, Part 2!

I started toying with the idea of making a Cleric of Erastil with the Theologian archetype.

Could I choose the Eagle domain from Ultimate Magic as my one domain?

Erastil normally grants clerics access to the Animal domain and Feather sub-domain, so thematically I thought it would work, but since there are no gods linked to the animal/terrain domains I wanted to ask here, first.

At the top of this thread I see the words "Answered in the errata", but when I download the most recent errata for Ultimate Magic from paizo there is nothing regarding this question. Anywhere else I should look?

i have no idea, but i plan on playing a separatist cleric who chooses the eagle domain

Ooo! That would work for my concept, too. My other option was Eldritch Heritage, but since that takes two feats I was leery to do it. Thanks!

Thread necro Part 3! The re-reanimation!

Has there ever been a clarification on this? There are no deities that officially give any of these domains, but I really feel that the monkey domain is in the purview of Sun Wukong and crocodile for Sobek, even though neither of them are "nature themed". I would really like to play an Inquisitor of Sobek with the crocodile domain, but I'm concerned about legality.

In Inner Sea Gods, all deities have sacred animals listed. Maybe that could be used as a guide for making certain domains legal choices?

As far as I know, druid is still the only class that qualifies for Terrain or Animal domains.

Thread Necro part 4, The Return of the Re-Reanimated.

So a Divine Hunter (Hunter Archetype) can gain a domain. It also needs to select a deity. Are they able to select one of these Animal or Terrain domains?

Specifically, I am looking at the Eagle Domain with a Divine Hunter of Ol' Deadeye. I think, thematically, it all works out. Erastil has access to the feather subdomain and the Hawkeye power can be used on ranged attacks. Elk Father's favorite weapon being the longbow.

Wow. Memories.

I must've toyed with a dozen different Cleric ideas when I originally posted in this thread.

I ended up going with a Life Oracle, Eldritch Heritage, and Improved Familiar.
