LOOT UPDATE #1
- Masterwork studded leather
- Masterwork buckler
- Masterwork rapier
- Light crossbow
- Gold earring (unappraised)
- Silver ring
- Vial with what appears to be saltwater inscribed with an "S" (unidentified)
- 1 Cure Light Wounds potion.
- Small metal key
- 100 pp
- 100gp
- A ring with the Vanderboren crest on it
- Note (Note Link)

Kowaru |

So, since we've got a bit of time now, do we want to sell off some of the stuff we don't plan on using? I suspect the rapier will get used, but the crossbow, armor, shield, earring and ring could all be pawned off for some quick cash.
And if we could also set up Aeron with a wand of cure light wounds,, that'd work wonders. We might not be unconscious and dying after every fight at that rate!

LOOT UPDATE #2
Claimed Items (To be deleted from next update)
- Masterwork studded leather (Ialda)
- Masterwork rapier (Chez)
- A ring with the Vanderboren crest on it (Lavinia)
Items Needing Appraisal / Identification
- Light crossbow
- Gold earring
- Silver ring
- Vial with what appears to be saltwater inscribed with an "S"
Party Items
- 1 Cure Light Wounds potion (who is holding onto this?)
Items to Discard
- Small metal key
Items to Sell
- Masterwork buckler
Party Funds
- 100 pp (1000 gp)
- 100 gp
I think we should to designate a "party loot holder". When items are not stated to be held by anyone, then this is the person who holds them. I have noticed it to be helpful that a strong character be the loot holder (at least until we find a bag of holding *grins*). I think that would mean Ialda since she is the strongest, followed next by Kowaru and Chez.
I also like the plan of spending money on a CLW wand.

Ialda Soumral |

I am fine with holding on to the loot. No biggie, until we get it sold.
Refresh my memory...how much did each individual get from completion of the task?
Also, remember to put my regular studded leather armor into the, to be sold list.

Lucendar |

***The 100 pp you found on the ship was Lavinia's payment to the harbormaster, which you gave back to her so subtract that from party funds.
Whatever you want to sell can be done so off camera so to speak during this time that you have off. Any non-jewelry/artwork/etc. items get sold at 50% price, while jewelry and the rest gets sold at 90% price.
An identify spell will cost you 11 gp to determine what the vial is.
Light crossbow = 17.5 gp
Gold earring = 45 gp
Silver ring = 22.5 gp
MW buckler = 77.5 gp'
Ialda's Studded Leather = 12.5 gp

Thanks for working out the prices on all that. (And noting that I was hoarding Lavinia's loot as our own :)
Before we spend money on an identify spell, I believe our spellcasters get a second chance to spellcraft the potion now that they have levelled up. (Or am I thinking of a houserule?)

Ialda Soumral |

I'm ready to roll, DM, but I'd like for our oracle to check the potion. If she can't ID it, we need to pay for the identify.
The rest of the stuff the DM added up last night, should probably just be the party kitty, IMHO. On the others and, it looks like roughly 170 gp or so, so perhaps there might be a CLW in town that has a few charges left in it....

Baolo |

So, I think we're proposing to spend:
750 gp - wand of cure light wounds (Aero, also shared by Baolo, but I think Aero should be primary)
2 gp - 20 blunt arrows for Aero
2 gp - 40 normal arrows for Baolo
302 gp - Masterwork kama for Kowaru
Which leaves us with 1119 gp if we convert the pp into gp. I think Ialda is keeping the gold holy symbol for now.

Baolo |

A proposal on potions
Cure Serious Wounds - Chez in case Aero and I can't get to him.
Cure Light Wounds - Ialda - same logic
Cure Light Wounds - Kowaru - same logic
Cure Light Wounds - Baolo - probably a bigger target than Aero, though I could argue we just give this one to one of the front-liners too.
Lesser Restoration - Aero - could also go to Baolo. This is more likely to be used out of combat
Invisibility - Aero - I think you have more things you can do on the battlefield without attacking than the rest of us. This could also be used by a frontliner or Baolo for stealth or scouting
Barkskin +3 - Kowaru - pretty sure he can use it

Ialda Soumral |

Those all sound like good ideas to me, Baolo.
We also have the potion of Enlarge Person and the potion of Swimming.
I think most of us have ranks in Swimming, so if someone doesn't, they should get it.
The Enlarge Person would be good for either Chez or Kowaru.

Catching up on loot...
New items for the loot thread!
5-17-2012 Post #1149
Fight with Nemiem
Dagger +1
Potion of CLW
Wand of Mage Armor (12 charges)
Note, this is our second mage armor wand.
Aeronniell is adding the CLW wand and potion of invisibility to her items.
If we assume the rest of the items are handed out as indicated above, that leaves the potion of swimming at large still.

Ialda Soumral |

Updated treasure and gold from the battle with Rowyna and Gutcrusher:
3500 gp in gold and jewelry (trunk)
+1 chain shirt (Rowyna)--Ialda would like to claim, if no objections
+1 buckler (Rowyna)
+1 rapier (Rowyna)
Amulet of False Life (+5 hps) (Guts)
Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds (trunk)
Potion of Gaseous Form (trunk)
Wand of Knock (17 charges)--should probably go to Xerathi, I think
4 letters from Vanthus
Make your claims now, boys and girls.

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

We should definitely do things to boost Ialda's AC. Out of the four living PCs, you are the only one that should be mostly in melee.
Although, are you sure you want the 20% spell failure chance just for an extra +1 AC?
Remember we have dozens of charges of Mage Armor (+4 AC vs +5 AC for the chain shirt), so you should essentially have that going 100% of the time in combat situations.
My guess is if Chesley and Kowaru re-roll, they'll have comparable WBL for their starting gear, so we don't need to worry about saving any of the rapier, buckler or earlier magic dagger(s) for them.
I'd think the Potion of CMW should go to Ialda as well, since she's the most likely to need a big self-heal in combat.
I'd even think the amulet of false life would make sense for her as well, except it might be such that the temporary HP don't stack with temporary rage HP. If that's the case, I'd think Xarethi since she has extremely low HP.
The +1 dagger she is carrying will definitely be sold.
Aeronniell's wish list is really just two items that gold will be needed to purchase. Her current WBL (not counting the wand) is only 100gp at level 3 prior to this divvying.
1. 500g (or 2500g): A composite longbow, so she can use her Strength modifier on damage. Ideally masterwork so she can get it enchanted (now or later)
2. 1000g: A pearl of power (1st level), to get another Bless, CLW, Command or Protection from Evil out of the day.

Ialda Soumral |

That Wand of Knock is probably the most important item we found, since with our lack of a rogue, that will be awesome for us.
If the gold would do us better, then Ialda is happy selling the magic armor. Whatever the group wants, I am cool with. We have I think 23 charges left on the Mage Armor wands, so that might be plenty, and a new one only costs 750 gp anyway.
The main things I think Ialda needs are: a masterwork or magical reach weapon, and improving her AC. However those two things are achieved, I am a fan of.

Lucendar |

+1 dagger (sells for 1151 gp)
+1 chain shirt (sells for 625 gp)
+1 buckler (Rowyna) (sells for 577, 5 sp)
+1 rapier (Rowyna) (sells for 1160 gp)
And since I like even numbers, add 500 gp more of jewelry found on Rowyna in the form of a bracelet adding up to total of 4000 gp (will make even split of 1000 gp per person)

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

Pre-Nemiem:
Party Pool: 1119g
Kowaru: Mwk kama (unsold), potion of barkskin +3 (Ialda?)
Chesley: ??
Post-Nemien:
SELL: +1 dagger, worth 2302g, sells for 1151g
Post-Rowyna:
4000gp that Lucendar mentions above
And we have these tentatively distributed.
?? : amulet of false life, worth ??
IALDA: +1 chain shirt, worth 1250g
On the fence is the wand of knock, depending if Baolo picks up Disable Device, or one of the replacement PCs does so?
SELL: wand of knock (17/50), worth 1530g, sells for 765g
This has the party pool up to 6270g if we keep the wand of knock, the +1 chain shirt and the amulet of false life.
At the very least, that's 1567g per person to spend.
That'd bump Aero's WBL to 1667g.
I haven't dug into the other PCs to see what they were at, but my guess is that if someone takes the chain shirt or the amulet, they'd be at ~3000g which is standard WBL for 3rd level.
(This sounds like an exercise we'll need to sort out to give the replacement PCs a benchmark in starting gold)
Or... with some more item sales, that's almost enough for 1 raise dead and 1 restoration to restore one of the 2 negative levels. Of course, then the 5 of us would all have starting level wealth mostly. :)

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

Not sure if the +1 Chain Mail will make it past Baolo or Aeronniell's consideration.
A masterwork chain shirt or breastplate was on Aeronniell's shopping list, which is (100g+150g) 250g new.
The +1 chain shirt sells for 625g, so it's only an incremental 375g of party net wealth we're talking about, especially if that 1000g would be spent in the future for that enchant.
I can see Aeronniell taking the revelation at some point that gives her the +4 armor bonus (+6 at 7th level), so I'd think it would fall to Baolo next to consider.
And I'm wrong on the pearl of power, it's only for those darn prepared casters. Not sure if a page of spell knowledge is worth it, either.

Baolo |

Forgot all about this thread, thanks for the reminder. Catching up now.
I am definitely strongly in favor of the amulet to Ialda.
I wasn't planning to take DD. It's not a class skill. I do have the high Dex so I could make the investment. Let's see what variety of bard Kowaru comes up with and I can always tweak my 3rd level changes. Bottom line though is that I think we should keep the wand of knock
I don't think I'd let the armor go by. Ialda is the top priority but sounds like the wand is a good option for her. Weapons are a higher priority for Baolo, but that would be +2 AC for the same armor check penalty he already has.
Potion of CMW to Ialda, yes! Barkskin too I think. Definitely ok with her getting the wand of Mage armor too.
In agreement with selling the dagger and rapier and the masterwork Kama.
We really ought to consider the buckler. That is a significant bump in AC for Aero or Baolo.
I'm definitely ok with the potion of swimming to Xarethi. Probably the potion of gaseous form too. Someone should take that.
So basically I think we come down to a decision on the chain shirt and the buckler about whether we keep defense or sell them to buy offense.

Baolo |

Ok, thought about this some more on the way from the train to the office. I hadn't forgotten Baolo has masterwork studded leather. I don't remember if I can in with it or picked it up along the way. That means his AC goes up by two and his armor check penalty drops by one if he switches to the chain shirt. Or, he could go with the buckler and raise AC by two with no penalty to armor check.
I think that's the way to go. All things being equal, I would pick offense, but the trade off of losing half the value for something that does help doesn't seem like the way to go.
So, decision on the chain shirt goes to you Aero.

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

It's ultimately a very tough decision for Aeronniell, too.
Technically speaking, neither Baolo nor Aeronniell should be in a position where they are being attacked very often, so them getting the first magic armor or shield we've come across feels very suboptimal.
But then again, selling those items for half value only to have them purchased again later when money is more abundant also feels suboptimal.
Sounds like we're in total agreement in how we're interpreting things.
I'm a bit confused if Baolo wants the armor or the shield or both(?) - you seem to be in favor the +2AC and -1ACP or +2ACP and 0ACP based on your post.
Aeronniell is likely to pick this ability up if she makes it to 5th level, because her mysteries at 7th and 9th are pretty much locked in (since they have minimum level requirements).
Spirit Shield (Su): You can call upon the spirits of your ancestors to form a shield around you that blocks incoming attacks and grants you a +4 armor bonus. At 7th level, and every four levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +2. At 13th level, this shield causes arrows, rays, and other ranged attacks requiring an attack roll against you to have a 50% miss chance. You can use this shield for 1 hour per day per oracle level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be spent in 1-hour increments.
Unfortunately that's an armor bonus and not a shield bonus (despite being called a "spirit shield").
At any rate, Aeronniell will give both Ialda and Baolo first choice on those items. She likely will let the buckler get sold if it falls to her to decide its fate. The chain shirt, if both Ialda and Baolo pass on it, she'd likely don it since she was going to spend 250g on a masterwork chain shirt to hold her over for the next two levels anyway.
Her big purchase requirement is a masterwork composite longbow since she's been using a mundane longbow and hasn't being able to add any of her Strength modifier to her damage for a few levels.

Lucendar |

Okay so +1 buckler to Baolo
Chain shirt +1 to Aero
HP amulet, Potion of CMW, and Potion of Barkskin +3 to Ialda
Xarethi gets Wand of Knock, Potion of Swimming, and Potion of Gaseous Form
So if you sell the +1 dagger and the +1 rapier and Chez' MW rapier and with your share of the gold and jewelry, you each receive: 1617.75 gp

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

OK we'll go with that distribution from now.
It would be grand for Xarethi to chime in and at least say, "looks good".
Here's the update:
If we kept the wand of knock, chain shirt and amulet but SOLD the buckler, the party pool was up to 6270g.
Instead we kept the buckler so the party pool is 5692g
This means 1432.125g per person, among 4 people.

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

Man, we were sure poor adventures!
I went through Chesley and Kowaru's gear. There's some miscellaneous stuff if anyone needs to commandeer it (backpack, lantern, Kowaru's board game, Chesley's wine bottle).
The bulk of gear is:
Chesley:
Mwk rapier (320)
Shortsword (10)
Rapier (20)
Chain shirt (100)
Kowaru:
Mwk kama (302)
All together that's another 732gp or 376gp if sold.
Revising the pool that's 6068gp or 1517gp per person.
