My character recently aquired a flying carpet that is 5x10. It's great because I play an archer and there is another archer in the party. We plan on both riding on it and raining down arrows. As for the mechanics of it:
Is it like a mount, can I move it and still take full round attacks?
What happens if either of us take damage while flying around, balance check?
Can my companion take full round attacks while I steer?
If you've used a carpet in one of your games, pls share the insight into situations you've found yourself in, as I'm sure they're going to come up in the game I'm in.

From PHB:Beautifully and intricately made, each carpet has its own command word to activate it—if the device is within voice range, the command word activates it, whether the speaker is on the rug or not. The carpet is then controlled by spoken directions
One can verball command while both take full round actions as the carpet moves of it's own accord.
May have to make balance checks if you get hit and are standing. That's probably DM discression territory. Though you could just sit to minimize that.
