This is gonna be the first print Wayfinder I don't have a piece in. :(
That'll teach you to go and get hired by Paizo and do a half way cross country move. <shakes fist> ;)
I blame Daigle's inability to find 25 hours in a day on his negative level after reincarnating from mantis to flumph.
But good news for the rest of us; that leaves room for another submitter.

I'm trying to find time to get it finished by tonight. Right before midnight, several monsters and hopefully a bizarre set of armor will be coming your way, Tim. The amount of monsters well be determined by how long I can get away from family time today.
With my wife asking me, "Are you getting paid for this?" last night, you can tell how much of a priority freeing up time is to her.

About a week before the deadline, I look at the number of submissions I have, and then I sort of freak out, because I forget that gamers run right up to the deadline.
I've received at least a dozen pieces in the past 48 hrs! There is good news and bad news.
Good news: We have PLENTY of articles to fill the pages now.
Bad news: That means not all of the submissions will get into the issue. It also means I have to actually do that "editor-in-chief" thing and make tough choices of Accept or Reject.
Good news: Lots of people sent me multiple entries, so I can now probably choose 1 submission per person, to maximize the number of people who get their submissions selected.
Bad news: Some of these submissions aren't on theme. Some didn't follow the guidelines. While they are still good, this makes my selection process easier...
Good news: There is a "Maybe" pile. Even if rejected for THIS issue, it may fit with a future issue. We may also use it in the PDF version of this issue.

I tried to beat the rush, but alas, so did the rush :)

My bestiary entries are off!
Axe-Handle Hound, Needler, Hoop Snake, Slide-Rock Bolter, and Tripodero.
Also, Needler Armor. For those who want to wear the "hide" of a sentient being.
It pissed me off that I couldn't fit the Hidebehind in. I like the idea of a gaunt black undead sasquatch lurking in Darkmoon Wood, feasting on intestines. Dammit.

Having spent the past two weeks more or less asleep (I hate it when that happens, bloody seasonal mind-affecting thingie) I'll just have to face up to not being able to get anything in this time.
I'd written a 750-word piece on Magnimaran traders, but when I read it after a week in the 'cooler,' it just wasn't good enough - bland, not adding anything new, and I even think their names were unimaginative. Bleh. :(

Awesome folklore beasties!
Love the hide-behind, pity that one didn't make it!

Yeah, once I read the description (the original folklore description was more like a big black Irish wolfhound), I realized that a rail-thin stealthy sasquatch ghoul was just so much better. And with the tall tales saying they ate only intestines and sometimes killed with just their shriek, that one was standing out as the coolest monster of the set...
...and then I got a job.It kinda sucks when real life intrudes on getting submissions done in time.
I'll get it finished up and submitted for the next issue, but who (other than Tim and Liz) knows what the premise for the next issue is about (hopefully pirates, hint hint...).- Rebis

The themes do seem to match those being covered by Paizo products at the time of release. Which actually freezes me up a bit, since I find myself having to second-guess what the official staff are going to come up with.
I don't want to produce something that gets over-ridden by canon, especially if that canon comes out between submission and publication. For that reason, I made a decision to stay away from Runelords tie-ins, even though I think the 'Virtue-spawn' would have been a cool idea (if only they had a better name).

I approve of the quoted post. Whilst I've given up on writing articles to submit to Wayfinder, I applaud this effort to keep up to date those who are still trying. :)

But mine is very close to 750 so it should fit on one page which is always a plus :)
I sent mine in 45 minutes before cutoff after spending an hour cutting my article down to 1,500 EXACTLY. I'm hoping the extra 4 words: -Rich "Rebis Ouroboros" Crotty doesn't put me over to the point where I get bumped.

four or even a dozen words over or under shouldn't hurt you, it's those folks that are off by more that have to worry. Being under or being over by fifty or so is really grounds for auto rejection. Though if it's a strong piece and fits with the theme well then I could see Tim handing it to an editor and seeing if they could make it fit. But that would probably be a rare situation.

Quick Update:
I am slowly going through everything again, and have a rough idea of what is staying, and what is off to the "maybe" pile. We'll re-address that pile when we prepare the PDF version of the zine.
I'm delayed a bit on this because:
1) Norwescon 35 was April 5-8, and I was the Gaming Programming Track Leader, so that was 4 days of not doing Wayfinder.
2) Work has ratcheted up a notch, so I have been a little busy during the day.
Hopefully, I will be able to sort this all out soon!
