Please tell me if all of the following is correct for a 10th level druid with a mastodon animal companion.
It's large with strength 25. Base damage is listed as gore (2d6) and slam (1d8). Both are primary natural attacks, so they add +7 from strength. Trample has a base of 2d6 plus 1+1/2 Strength modifier (so, +10).
If I use Strong Jaw, the attack does damage as if the creature were two size categories larger per Table 3-1, Bestiary page 302. Since the large mastodon's gore is already equivalent to the starting gore of a huge creature, I assume it shifts two spaces to the right, doing the gore base of a colossal creature (4d6).
If I add Improved Natural Attack to the gore, it goes up one place in the damage progression listed for the feat. Without Strong Jaw, this raises gore damage to 3d6. With Strong Jaw, this would appear to increase the base damage to 6d6.
Trample damage is listed as 2d6, but Trample says it's based off of Slam damage (1d8). It again appears that the mastodon does base damage as if it were one size larger than it really is, and the Trample is even higher. Would this shift with Strong Jaw to a damage of 4d6 (doubling, as the size would otherwise go off of the chart)?
If I take Improved Natural Attack on the slam, this should likewise increase the Trample damage too, right (up to 2d8 without Strong Jaw and 4d8 with Strong Jaw)?

Super necro of this thread, but my Google fu is weak. Has the 2 different natural attack progressions ever been resolved? A mastodon animal companion is all screwy, it's gore is to big, it's trample is too big, but the important thing that I am raising this thread from the dead for is. I have a mastodon pet, at 9th level he gores at 2d6 + 12, at level 10, I take a level of mammoth rider makes it a huge mastodon. Is that one step to the right from the already huge sized gore damage? I then take imp nat attack, that one is simpler, it's one step to the right on the imp nat attack table yes?
