How can I subscribe to threads using an RSS feed?

Website Feedback

All I have is a hotmail account, but I want to subscribe to threads. I'd like to get a notice in my inbox when a thread is updated. How can I do that? I use firefox, if that makes a difference.Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post.

Generally, people who use RSS feeds rely on their RSS reader to notify them of updates, so if all you care about is *that* you're notified, not *how* you're notified, I'd suggest just using Firefox's "Live Bookmarks" feature to tell you when threads are updated.

If it's really important to you that those notifications come by way of e-mail, you'll want to look for an "RSS to email" app—there are many, and I don't know enough about them (or you) to make a recommendation.

Is that an ADD-ON?

The live bookmarks instructions say you can click on the orange pic directly or in the tool bar, but it doesn't come up. I can't find a live bookmarks add on. Am I missing something?

It's not an add-on... are you maybe using a very old version of Firefox?

When I click an RSS icon in Firefox, I immediately see the feed, and a yellow box at the top asks me if I want to subscribe to it using Live Bookmarks (or other RSS reader options). If I hit "Subscribe Now," it basically bookmarks the feed, and when that feed is updated, you'll see that when you look at your bookmarks menu/bar/wherever you put it.

Got it!

I was able to subscribe. And they are all in a folder. How can you tell if they have been updated? Do you have to open each one up to see?

I don't use Firefox much, but I believe that when you look at that folder, you should see the number of new articles since you last visited.
