I'm sensing a pattern.

Is it you who misbehaves at weddings?
I've joked that I'd be "that guy," but I've actually never been to one.

I thought it was something like that, but my memory isn't what it used to be.

hi everyone,

I found it very difficult to watch. Violence does not normally bother me much, even Quentin Tarentino violence, but something about the real-historical brutality in that movie actually left me kind of upset for a few days afterwards.

I heard that too. I hesitate to watch the movie with my wife. Such things upset her.

The world is more forgiving of a good/neutral aligned hero who's trying and failing than an unrepentant evil bastard who only apologizes that not enough people died in that explosion.

True. Liverpool vs Manchester City (soccer), Sävehof vs Hammarby (handball), or Sweden vs Russia (bandy) are all a lot more exciting. ;)

Well when half the audience watch for the adverts or Beyonce performing then it can hardly be a sport :P

That will be me :)

Naked memory loss?

*facepalm*

I wonder what it is about that month. (or maybe May is super sexy)

The really awesome people have May birthdays.

This March birthday says gee, thanks.

I should probably stop putting stupid little notes on my character's inventory sheet.

My mom is born in March, if that helps.

Morning everyone.

Obviously, as I GM today, I just had to wake up two hours early because of someone knocking on the adjacent apartment doors... *sigh*

Hopefully it doesn't turn into another episode of "Cops".

My thoughts:
If this were a serious movie about a brutal period of history (along the lines of Schindler's List or Hotel Rwanda), I would actually have received it better. But the combination of the action/adventure storyline and real world atrocities made me rather uncomfortable.

I contrast it with Inglorious Basterds, which I rather liked. In that movie, you know terrible things are going on, but it's mostly off-camera, and you can focus on the plot at hand. If he had taken a similar approach to Django, I think it would have made it easier to handle.

Breakfast this morning: Eggs, bacon, roasted tomatoes, biscuits with jam.

Mmmmmmm. I love Sunday breakfast.

What do they say?

"Scorpion whip - 5gp, 3lb, A weapon for beating the s--- out of things"

"Eyeglasses - 5gp, -, Holy crap I can SEE"
"Waterskin - 1gp, 4lb, Contains water"
"Flash - 1gp, 1lb, Contains...special water"

Stuff like that.

** spoiler omitted **

AH...now a friend's critique of the movie makes sense- he's a huge Inglorious Basterds fan, made a character based on the main guy from the movie, but didn't like Django.

Completely useless for this character, but I should really see if I can get coconuts approved for a mount. Horses are expensive, and skill points are hard to come by for classes that get them.

I never really get to play my joke character concepts because I have too many serious ones I really want to use.

That's awesome. Kinda like the descriptions of items in Disgaea and other games from Atlus.

I used to be into rolling up lots of characters, but somewhere along the line I stopped doing it and now I just roll them up when I have an occasion to do so. Maybe it feels more special that way, or it helps me to be more attached... I don't know.

I mostly like building them because it helps me figure out how the rules work.

Gonna vote for Superstar this evening. Have a bunch of stuff to do in the afternoon before I can though.

Afternoon all.

Good day to relax and catch up on chores. Fortunately everyone in my house hates sports of all kinds so I do not have to suffer through the Stupor Bowl today. And I could give a rats ass about the commercials.

Brad Pitt in Inglorious Basterds talked like my Drill Sargent.

I didn't see Django. Hell, I just saw I B for the first time two weeks ago or somesuch.

Pardon the intrusion, but "Django" popped up while I was moving my mouse around and I've been waiting for weeks for somebody to start a Django Unchained conversation.

Yeah, it was wicked violent. There were some scenes that were so gruesome--even though QT uses camera cuts to make it look like you're seeing more than you actually do--I averted my eyes.

If your wife is in the least bit squeamish, FHDM, I'd say skip it.

But...

I thought it was pretty f~~@ing awesome!!

I've read some of the more intelligent articles critcizing Tarantino and counterposing IB and DU and I can see what they're saying, but I disagree.

If the movie leaves you upset for a couple of days later, like it did CH, I think that was its intended effect. I was livid for, like, two weeks, but that probably had to do with my watching it not too long after reading Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs, which also upset me a great deal.

You're not intruding.

Gave my son the speech yesterday.

Drove by a "Condoms to Go" store.

"Dad,.....what's a condom?"

Decided it was time before he's taught the tao of the lockerroom;....

I do wish they'd rename that store though.

I wonder if they have any goblin-sized...

I'll ask. Goblins have little wangs, right?

Proportionally?

Well, let's see, The Eighth Dwarf got me pretty good somewhere. It was a politroll thread, but let's see if I can find it...

Link--if you dare!

If you just read the five or six posts it brings you to and then go away real fast you won't be tainted by any politrolling.

Maybe later.

It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean!

I am used to PCs finishing the session with counting and splitting the loot... But session ending with GM returning home with loot? I should GM more!

Players that are regular hosts of our game usually end with a bit of loot in the form of leftover snacks.

I got a real magic item today, however...

Nah, it was the owner apartment asking for late rent. Her son argued with the resident yesterday.

It might turn into another "Cops" episode because the son of the owner demanded that the resident move out immediately.

And the magic item I looted from the session is...

A magic box that when put on the table and feed with lightning elementals shows images and words and play sounds and let me speak with people far away and entertain me with clever games!

My players gave me their old laptop. They got a new one in the December and after learning that mine gave up offered the one they no longer need.

Ok, shutting down oldie. Hopefully a new post will be made from the laptop...

The best way to learn about an OS is to recovery from a complete system failure.

And hello world!

Operation on an open laptop ended with a success! HD moved from old laptop to new (never mind my old laptop was 3 and a half year while this is six year old).

Now, installing updates and hoping it will adjust drivers to the GFX.

It will take some time. Those are deemed important updates to windows 7 since 2009.

Learning the new keyboard will be a challenge.

At the moment it sees the GFX as a standard VGA with 16 MB of memory...

Yay update installing! Except why it's so slooow?!
