Legalities of slavery in Magnimar

Just finished the first half of Skinsaw and my PCs are soon to be on their way to the City of Monuments. I intend on bringing one of my player's siblings in as a slaver. If I recall, Korvosa is rather lenient on the slave trade, but what about Magnimar? I forget if this has been covered before, the holidays are finally starting to take their toll on my stress-addled brain. Thanx in advance.

I don't think that it's been covered, but with the high mix of humans present, I would think that it would be frowned upon, but not actively discouraged. On the Other hand, I could see the many cultures mingling mean that they will bring many types of exotic animals in especially for the theater or something like that, which someone with that type of background would understand pricing far better than a normal person - perhaps its is a side job of the sibling, when all the slaves captured are of poor health, or to hide their real operation if slaving is outlawed? A ship with cages that is supposed to be housing animals will be less scrutinized than a grain transport with cages.

Slavery is illegal in Varisia, both in Magnimar and Korvosa. It's less illegal in Cheliax, I think, which is where the original colonists of Varisia came from. And up in Riddleport, where there's not really that much law at all, there are slavers.

I got the impression that Magnimar might not have slavery, just people contractually bound into indentured service until they pay off their family's debts...

Which never happens.
