How big is our support structure? I mean obviously, I'd like to have as much as we're allowed to. A network of spies and assassins would be perfect for me. Perhaps I am actually a secret member of a Jade Empire ninja guild and they plan on supporting my intentions to unite Gabel with the Jade Empire to take out Suldran.

"Heh, Julius Ceasar much Corvinus? Throwing yourself a triumph already :P "
Nah, unlike you, my character is an outsider to majority of people, I need such tricks to get known and accepted. Even though my character is mainly military he knows what has to be done, usually.

Well, Caesar was also a soldier like Marius here, who was clever and planned for various situations. So the comparison is not that off, although I would prefer Marius to live long and die a wealthy grandpa at old age, instead of being murdered and all, of course an empire like Caesar's wouldn't be bad to have, but then again, we got Romlon right here. :)

I never played an oracle but I looked it up, how does Sir Seamus have so many rolls and skill points?
I know how that trance works now, and it indeed gives +20 on skills, which is not just impressive but awesome, however, oracle gets 4+Int skill points, which in case of Seamus is 5, plus possible human skill bonus point and level 1 favored class bonus rank, if these all are true he can have 7 skills with rank 1
do you have ranks in all the Knowledge skills you rolled for? I ask because even if all Knowledge skills are class skills if you have no rank in them you usually can't roll an untrained Knowledge check with a DC higher than 10
Sir Seamus of Klanach
Diplomacy (o,d) (Cha): +8 x
Knowledge (geography) (o,d) (Cha): + 8 x
Knowledge (history) (o,d) (Cha): +8 x
Knowledge (local) (o,d) (Cha): + 8 x
Knowledge (nobility) (o,d) (Cha): + 8 x
Sense Motive (o) (Wis): +4 x
here are my skills 4 + 1 int + 1 human = 6 of which 4 are knowledge related.
The +20 is just crazy good!

"Also, I really don't like how I told my plans to the NPC-s while none of my rivals were there but now they all suddenly have the same ideas."
The game won't work out this way, I told in person at the council that I wouldn't share my plans with the rivals, but then of course I got to post about them among my followers. Now everyone has the damn idea to do exactly what my plan was even though they didn't hear it from me and is ooc information.
We will either have to send our orders and plans to the GM in PM-s from now on, or somehow force an end to the rivalry, or PvP is unavoidable.
Sir Seamus of Klanach
I agree with Marius, we may need some more structure or this could get difficult. Maybe it is intended to drive us towards the same ideas, but its hard to tell. My character is rolling for information to try build a better context. Perhaps provide a bit more context so we don't all have to roll for that info or gather it from the minions.
Hard one to balance here.

I don't even try to be active in only one place of the kingdom, sure I sent most of my forces to the suggested south but I still have my own agenda other than the given mission by the council, and I want to make myself/Marius known in all the realm, while also getting allies and resources, not just from the orcs
If the goal was to gather us all in the same location for the same reason like this, it may end badly. Avoiding getting in each others ways could be done by giving all of us different objectives.
Gavin as example I thought would be sure to make his tournament and festival, especially after that "hearty speech". Sure, in "mindspeech/thoughts" I did roleplay out how Marius thinks about the idea, but as player I wanted to see it happen, I looked forward to get my representative npc-s up against those of others. Seems another event to me where the player decided upon ooc knowledge/opinion to drop its own idea, despite the great Diplomacy roll result of Sir Gavin.
I know that after such a speech if the character suddenly drops his own plans most people would believe the person to be whimsical and unreliable, not to mention it can easily result in loss of prestige in the eyes of the council, I am pretty sure some of the council members would have profited from the tournament held in the capitol, now IMO Gavin lost the support of those who may now feel cheated.
Anyway, we really have to decide how to handle the rivalry, I am used to in pnp and pbp to say out my character's thoughts and plans specifying that its not said out loud, it helps explain my intentions and personality of the character to both GM and players. Here however, it seems to end badly, as in people reading what I plan automatically try to copy or block it, this is why I believe PM-s may work better.

Can't we just trust each other not to metagame? I mean we can click on spoilers just as easily as we can read a post. I don't think everyone's stealing your idea Marius, that's just where our knowledge checks led us. I for one don't plan on gallivanting about the countryside defeating bandits. Gavin's looking at food issues. Seamus seems to be working along similar lines as you and Holden hasn't decided yet.
I also agree with the rolling thing. We're first level, I mean if I roll a 1 on a knowledge check that means I get a 7. That's not enough for anything and assuming we can't reroll them, what then? I just have no clue who the other important people are in the city, and no way to find them? Don't they have big houses and stuff? Are all our servants also level 1?
Is 'the south' part of the city? Is it 2 miles away? 100 miles away? What is the capital called? How many people live there?
Sir Seamus of Klanach
Thanks Avery.
To Marius
If it looks that way I am sorry, but I feel all my ideas are original. If I am working along roughly the same lines, it is because that is where my knowledge checks led me.
I still believe we can construct a good story here but we need to find a bit of an interactive thread that doesn't go directly into pvp while always keeping it an option, just to keep us on our toes :) .
Marius Corvinus Gabela
I don't know if it is your checks, or whatever else that makes it look a if we are all predestined to become enemies, I just say a mere spoiler tag is no way proper for a game where rivalry is at the main core theme, everyone can look at them.
Also, I really want to know how NPC followers will be handled now, shall we make extra char sheets for the few named ones? Or can they roll properly skill dices on their own at all?
Marius Corvinus Gabela
so, are we taking a pause?
Seamus, as I planned to make an oracle for an other game, it was pointed out to me that the Trance is for Intelligence based skill checks only, so I wanted to point out that for things like Sense Motive or Diplomacy wouldn't work, and you wouldn't get the +20, but now I see you actually have also (Cha) for some reason after all the Knowledge skills.
No clue why you roll knowledge with Cha instead Int, but that basically means Trance wouldn't work for them either.

I'm a little lost atm. I can't think about anything, that might interest my character in game to improve the community.
A couple of questions.
Are we talking the local community being the capital or the country in general?
Do we have free reign to decide in which way we want to improve the community? Trade, farming, crime, moral?
Marius Corvinus Gabela
Honestly, the situation Marius finds himself in now, including the fact that his rival just appeared out of nowhere in the middle of a private meeting without the escort of his even caring about stopping Saemus is one where I would normally under these circumstances attack him, if it weren't for the "no pvp" rule
also: didn't know Saemus understands/speaks orcish
not saying the player is fault at anything, but I just don't get it why he had to go there, and why at the time of my own meeting
Avery Hall
I don't really care about the orcs. I just wanna kill Omen Eye and am trying to think of ways to do it that won't kill me or get me caught. More difficult than I anticipated x_x. I also haven't been reading the other player's spoilers or posts so I don't really know what's going on except for with my stuff. It's more fun for me that way, and easier not to metagame.
Avery Hall
I am finding myself a little over commited PBP wise, and am withdrawing from several of my games. Thanks for the fun, and best of luck to everyone. Maybe we'll see each other again in a future game.
One less schemer for the throne should make all your lives easier. You can NPC Avery for as long as you like, or kill him however you see fit.
