Lost and Found!

Treasure hunting isn’t just a job. For the most passionate adventurers, it’s the thrill of finally holding a legendary item in your hand, or the flash of insight when you unravel the function of a mysterious magical object, that justifies risking life and limb. From powerful magical weapons like the Pale Maiden and Traitor’s Blade to items like the Beacon of the North and the Witchmarket Coin that carry you vast distances into uncharted realms, the best treasures capture an adventurer’s imagination. Now delve into the dragon’s hoard and discover for yourself some of the most exotic and sought-after items in the Pathfinder campaign setting.

Inside this book you’ll find dozens of marvelous treasures, as well as the tools to integrate them into any Pathfinder RPG adventure, including the treasure troves in which they rest. Whether you’re looking for an item to serve as the seed of a new campaign, or simply want to surprise your players with new loot, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Lost Treasures delivers, including:
  • More than 40 legendary magical and mundane treasures, from the planar compasses known as astralabes to the dinosaur-controlling Zoic of the Primeval. Each item comes complete with game statistics, a full history, and plot hooks to help you place it into an ongoing campaign or make its discovery the cornerstone for new adventures.
  • Information on a dozen legendary treasure hoards hidden throughout the Inner Sea region and beyond.
  • New curses that can easily be applied to any item, guardian, or treasure trove, adding perilous potential to even the most mundane discovery.
  • Magical treasure chests with unique defenses and abilities, often as strange and valuable as the wonders they contain.

Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Lost Treasures is intended for use with the Pathfinder campaign setting, but can be easily adapted to any fantasy world.

Treasures with histories are a great thing

4/5

Read my full review on Of Dice and Pen.

Lost Treasures provides a large number of unique (or nearly unique) magic items, complete with background stories and adventure ideas for using them. It's a good book for GMs looking to add a few treasures into the game that stand out from the typical +1 weapon or cloak of resistance. A few are powerful items; many others are considerably less powerful; some aren't even magic items, but just mundane items of high value or historical importance. However, all the items have their own individual character to them and will add a ton of flavour to treasure hauls. Even the mundane items here are anything but mundane.

Better than expected!

4/5

I would give it 4 and a half, but cannot.
This is set up like the Artifacts & Legends book, yet not much in this book would break your campaign. Some of the stories behind these items make for very compelling reading (Like the Fiendsplitter).
Some of my favorites include the Pale Maiden, Mistcaller and the Stories of Shazzarazed (or however that was spelled!). Very fun and useful book.

WONDERFUL Addition to Ultimate Equipment

5/5

This is a great book with lots of treasures. For GM's looking for unique or interesting items to add to an adventure this book is what you are look for. Some weapons, but mostly unique artifacts that you can build campaigns or sessions around. Highly recommended.

Scarab Sages

Is the carrying capacity and other statistics of the Golden Carriage of Gaspar Longfellow equivalent to a normal carriage?

A little lost on the Dossal of Salt and Tears, mainly because of this part:

"A cleric who worships Iomedae who prays for spells at the dossal can prepare domain spells from the Community, Knowledge, Law, or Protection domains. These are the four domains once granted by Aroden that are not also granted by Iomedae."

Uh... Aroden granted the Community, Glory, Knowledge, Law, and Protection domains, and Iomedae grants the Glory, Good, Law, Sun, and War domains. Was Law supposed to be included in there, or was it only supposed to be Community, Knowledge, and Protection?

Scarab Sages

Scepter of the Arclords is also featured in the new novel Liar's Island.

Reading through these entries, I can't help but think most of these items are artifact level creations, yet they aren't artifacts, and pretty much all but the mundane items can be crafted by anyone with the right feats and skills.

Also, anyone else find it funny that 500,000 GP (the amount the champion of the gilded host is work on the market) is apparently enough to destabilize the economy of most of the world, apparently? That seems laughably low for the lore that talks about how much gold it took to create the thing, apparently you can just make one yourself if you happen to be mythic and have 25,000 gp lying around.
