What does a character do in between adventures? Wizards research new spells. Clerics continue praying for divine favor. Warriors train with weapons and armor. Rogues...sharpen their daggers?

"The Rogue's Guide to Capers" provides a quick system for dealing how a PC rogue will spend his down time. Maybe he needs some quick coin by betting on a sure thing or wants to establish a long-term wealth source by wooing a baroness. Seven sample jobs are provided as are rules for the amount of wealth a rogue can acquire depending on the community size he is operating within.

Thank ye, kindly!

Just picked this up (looks great, thanks!) and had a question. How would you use Settlement stats to modify caper rolls? For example, I'm thinking of using this for a rogue in Riddleport and that city has a +5 Crime Statistic, +3 Corruption and -6 Law. Thoughts on their impact on the rolls?

Hi Jeffrey,

I'd apply the +5 as a bonus to the execution roll, the +3 to the get away roll if its a guild affiliated roll. The -6 would apply to the DCs of an escape roll.

The guild should be aggreessive and want a cut.

Its smart to see settlement statistic effect the DCs and modifiers. I kept it simple in the product but I did consider factoring it in the design. I avoided it for fear of overcomplicating the rolls I want it to be easy.

Glad you're happy with the product. Hope this helps, feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Frank Gori

Thanks Frank! I'll see how these roll out during our next downtime. Having to pay a portion out out to the guilds/overlord of Riddleport sounds good too, helps balance the slightly easier rolls. Thanks!
