Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The worst one I ever saw was during a 3.5 game several years ago when our DM decided that Magic Missiles could miss, wouldn't allow our monk to level because he was too anti-combat and could never be attacked(pact of peace, serenity etc or whatever they were called. Basically lu tze from discworld). The GM Thought the monk was broken.

Also iirc we just rolled 1 d20 for everything and he randomly decided if we hit, crit or missed and how much damage we'd done from that 1 roll. And he had issues with one of our party playing a baby dragon to the point where he ignored them. Dunno why he ever let them play one tbh.

Though the main reason he pretty much rail roaded us constantly and made rules up out of thin air so we couldn't do much was because he wanted to run Legend of the Five Rings instead of 3.5

Totally stealing my concept there Tsiron :P

Though two inevitable-esque characters could work.

I'd love to give this a try though what I'd probably be aiming for would simply be a tiny or so construct outsider. Similar to the Inevitables. I suppose I could use the race builder to craft a humanoid creature of around 20rp for an equivalent CR2.

Silver Crusade

My guess is probably that there is roughly 20 applications which will each need to be read through and decided on. I mean they never said how long it would be before the party was decided upon.

Silver Crusade

I've mainly been playing Wildstar Beta on screen A and refreshing this on Screen B... Screen C however has been out of commission for sometime and therefore is not displaying a movie.

Silver Crusade

I know I am somewhat behind but I am currently sorting out my character submission. Mainly as I honestly couldn't think of what to generate for the most part.

You've tried this?

Well in my experience the majority of a game's opening line of recruitment consists of allowing anything so long as it isn't Psionics. I've not offered myself nor my own currency in order to sway them otherwise. However a little magic here and people are willing to offer themselves in my stead. Such is the wonder of Dominate Person after all.

Mines still on backorder as well. I just used the paperbacks

Mine's the uber kickstarter collectors one with the bestiary inside it and all that jazz... problem being that you're hard-pressed to find anyone willing to allow Psionics for love nor money... not to mention it means getting my mitts on said book takes twice as long as any other kickstarter pledge they did lol.

the vitalist is pretty cool. I've got one in a group I run here at home. I think he's playing the soul thief build. Its pretty sweet. He can do some pretty severe damage and use some of it as healing

Oddly enough I've been tempted with the Wilder, sadly my Ultimate Psionics Hardback has yet to arrive so the PDF's will have to do for the moment. I'll throw them in my Dropbox tonight so I can have a proper look tomorrow at work.

I think the only real difference was to bring it more in line with the rest of the races, mainly in that it gave them a +2 to an attribute of your choice like other half-breed humans.

And yes I believe there is someone else playing that race. (and another one XD)

I think I may have to have another look at Psionics and instead probably go something else given that there be rather a lot of us already. Though that might make it more interesting to see which of us can make it really stand out :P

Silver Crusade

I'd quite like to play the old Eberron Changeling Race if at all possible? The pathfinder conversion is linked above. And possibly either Sorcerer or a Psionic class most likely. I'll have to have a think more depending if the race is allowed.

I was nattering to one or two of my friends about this adventure path which now has them interested. Well I say one or two, it's managed to fill a full group in all honesty.

In addition to that my issue for having to hold off on selecting from the current pool has yet to finish Since I'm currently over deadline for a unit of coursework and as much as my imagination loves pathfinder my procrastination has sky-rocketed of late. So either a group on here or this possible one with my IRL friends wouldn't be likely to start till the middle-end of may. And while I'd most likely try to pick up 1-2 people due to essentially having failed to keep my end of running a group here I have faith that they'll have found one by then. And also because I'd rather stick to having closer to four people rather than running this with six.

Not to mention that there was about 18-19 people and there appears to be three GM's running 5 player games so there is quite possibly a good chance I could always add a couple of the remaining when I do start up this other game.

But all in all, I would like to apologise for pretty much dropping out as a GM for the moment.

@Nebten - I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, where all my old gaming buddies have moved away, don't talk to eachother (or me), or have been saddled with their newly created spawn. And whenever I attempt to part-take in online freeform RP with others it usually breaks down after a few weeks after I've poured heart and soul into the creation of a character and a interesting concept behind it. So joining something with the understanding that it will last beyond the bright and fresh start is rather appealing. Though I hadn't realised it was likely to take the next half a decade.

@Narah - I've already created a new alias, and will probably have a better look at that later on but thank you for the guide to get there. Like I said, having not known at first it was confusing but once I'd done it, it was obvious. Much to my annoyance. My main issue was I hadn't known how to alter the profile for my own account let alone for the alias in the first place.
And in regards to character sheets I've found that Mythweavers is a decent site for them, take for example - Character Sheet1 that I drafted up.

Right well having slept and woken up. My brain is better able to process everything, including re-reading some of my own conclusions from last night.
But yes, I'm up for running this with about 4-5 people. And I understand what you mean about the remaining players not being worse than those who've already been selected. Since at the end of the day, group composition is quite important.

I'll I may need some help with setting it up given that I've not ran one on Paizo's site before and my inability to find certain things may hinder me but I'll have a look when I can till I've freed myself up from current issues irl.

I have to admit the "How to format your text [Show]" is probably one of the most in-depth and well laid out I've ever seen. But my main issue in understanding the character "sheet" on the profile was I couldn't find out where it was done. Have to admit it wasn't as easy to find at first but now I've found it I can't believe I'd missed it.

Silver Crusade

I have to say I'm utterly confused. Though that may be more due to the fact that I'm rather knackered after work (especially since they decided that an entire floor needed to be refitted and we became porter's instead of IT technicians today ¬_¬).

But yes, so can I try and understand this a bit more.
We're running Carrion Crown, correct?

Are you wanting more GM's so that each one can take a party of adventurers through the campaign so that the applicants all are able to have a shot at the module? And how many games of this are currently being ran in this campaign?

I have to ask, is Narah a GM or a Player? I mean so far I've gathered that Narah has two characters that she'd want to play in a game.

Also as I've never created a character on here before, when I've been looking over the current applicants for the campaign I've been racking my brain trying to work out how it is they've managed to create them and set them up in the layout they have since for example my Alias' don't have anywhere near the options they seem to have. (it's just done with BBCode in a description somewhere isn't it? Rather than it being laid out already...)

As I've re-read what's been said more and more it is coming across as wanting people to just start up additional campaigns, if I'm understanding it right? As it's now 1am and I started this post about an hour or two ago my train of thought may have become slightly derailed and found itself an entirely new track.

I have to agree about Mirelinza, that something is odd about the +5. However upon closer inspection I believe it's simply listing that roll modifiers for attack. Given that she has a BAB of +1 and a Dex of +4. Which is why her Scimitar is +1 while the Rapier is +5.

The last time I GM'd a game was Rogue Trader about a year ago, and I've not played many PBP games (never on Paizo itself actually) but if you're fine with a somewhat inexperienced GM with regards to the medium but with enough RPG books to build himself a sizable fort then I'd be up for joining you.

I'll admit I may be a little bogged down till the middle of this week coming for the majority but my request/offer whatever it is that I've just done... Is there all the same.

Pleasure to make your acquaintance.

*bows and tips his hat to you all.*

This thread does appear to have derailed somewhat into chaos, but as we all love chaos and its much better than people killing eachother over whether their morality or the others is the better one I'd say its all for the best.

The quote at the start is the first one I thought of when I read the subject for this thread, as the Agent in Serenity is working to make a better world, however that doesn't mean the world he's helping make is better or even if such a better world would be created by his actions, just given blind obedience and the faith that it will.

Also on the subject of alignment with intent to do good through less than good means, I'm curious where Havelock Vetinari would fit in. I'd say somewhere between lawful neutral and lawful evil myself, as he is after all a Tyrant, and he gives everyone a choice. "help me do this and stay to hear me out, and at any time feel free to leave via the door over there. I won't detain you" However he also won't mention to lack of a floor on the other side of the "freedom" door. Fair but evil, but also neutral as he's offering life with benefits and a chance of redemption, or death and oblivion.

He's working towards progress and advancement for the city he rules but his methods are not always "good" by normal standards, I mean he's used slavery and other means, and the only reason he's not chaotic is that its a waste of time in his eyes and would lead to complications, hence why he legalised crime and put it under government control and taxed the populous so they wouldn't be mugged, and the muggers would track down and "remove" anyone who did mug someone who'd payed for their protection.

Also as far as he's concerned all mimes must be killed without hope, everyone has their quirks I suppose.

Under the description of the Linguistics skill in the core rulebook you learn a new language, both speaking and reading it, for every skill point put into the skill.

So surely parts of these traits are somewhat redundant?

"Learn a Language: Whenever you put a rank into this
skill, you learn to speak and read a new language. Common
languages (and their typical speakers) include the following."
