I'm interested. I'd be considering a magus build that concentrates on debuffing rather than damage.

But some of what I'd like to do depends on rules interpretation (and as far as I Know there has been no errata published to clarify these interpretations).

So, firstly; the Enforcer Feat says that

Quote:
Whenever you deal nonlethal damage with a melee weapon...

The question is, does nonlethal damage from a spell delivered through a weapon via Spellstrike constitute non-lethal damage with a melee weapon? in other words, if I use spellstrike to cast Frostbite through a lethal-damage weapon, will that trigger the enforcer Feat as the weapon is also doing non-lethal damage?

The second question is about double-chained kama. Since the description says that if one weapon is dropped, it can be retrieved as a free action, the question is will you allow the use of spell combat by dropping one of the kamas, then retrieving it via a free action, and can it then be used as a reach weapon to deliver the spell?

The firearm is allowed.

I don't think Enforcer is designed to work that way, but you could do what you propose with the chained kama.

Addams Family DM wrote:
I would allow empowered spell, but not intensified as each missile only does a set amount of dice, but you could increase the number of missiles.

Hmmmm. Well I may have to rethink this build but not until 5th level. Any other issues you can see?

Are advanced firearms being allowed? Because if yes then Rodrick will need to change up his equipment.

Scarab Sages

I've added a background in the form of journal entries. Let me know what you think, DM.

This is JimiBones83's submission.

Question, do you use mind flayers in your games? I was thinking about throwing something about them into my backstory but since they aren't a PF monster I didn't know if I should or not. Either way Ill get it written up over the next couple days

Silver Crusade

I'd quite like to play the old Eberron Changeling Race if at all possible? The pathfinder conversion is linked above. And possibly either Sorcerer or a Psionic class most likely. I'll have to have a think more depending if the race is allowed.

I think we even all ready have someone playing that race. Unless there are specific differences with the Eberron Changeling and the basic 3.5 Changeling.

@Rodrick. Advanced firearms are allowed.

Thanks ^_^
I like your story a lot, I wish I had your writing skill as it was like reading a page out of a novel.

Thanks, Dimitri. It's a hobby of mine.

Also: My character is gonna be more of a weapon enhance magus than anything else, so he'll fulfill the melee role rather than arcane damage. Also, let me provide a bit more crunch/fluff combo (Also, there are way too many "also"s in this paragraph!):

Blackblade Kaetar responded to Tsiron's fiendish blood, and so bonded with its potential. Once he hits 6th level and gets his first arcana, Blackblade Kaetar will become the Blackfiend Blade Kaetar. It'll just look different and he'll have the ability to instantaneously summon it from a pocket dimension that is it's "sheathe." He will also be able to use normal weapon-enhance stuff on it if he wasn't able to before.

Please let me know if this little but of combo fluff/crunch is viable. It doesn't really add "OMZG OP!" to the game in my opinion, but I would be able to remove it if you don't approve, Swordlady.

If you're curious as to why I chose Words over Standard, it's because I think that if he's drawing his power from a source as primal and powerful as fel blood, the magic used should be appropriately primal.

thats funny lol. I'm also a psionic changeling.

I think the only real difference was to bring it more in line with the rest of the races, mainly in that it gave them a +2 to an attribute of your choice like other half-breed humans.

And yes I believe there is someone else playing that race. (and another one XD)

I think I may have to have another look at Psionics and instead probably go something else given that there be rather a lot of us already. Though that might make it more interesting to see which of us can make it really stand out :P

Urk, sorry for post bump. Chronic disorder, I guess.

I just realized I completely copied and pasted from my app for The Morphling's RotRL recruitment for the intro, so I'm gonna redo it.

Intro

Spoiler:

Tsiron hustled through the back streets of Almas, where the only ones who would see him would be drunks and addicts. A stray gust picked up a worn bounty post, and as it drifted past Tsiron's face, a message came from Kaetar: Hide. The watch is coming.

Tsiron ducked into an alleyway, and he watched the not-so-shining Almas City Guard pass by, their lanterns swinging. After the watch passed, Tsiron looked at the walls surrounding him on three sides. They would probably provide safer transport to the Restful Sanctuary than the streets, and it would be more direct. As a plus, he could make a dramatic entrance. That would be what the old crew would expect him to do.

Sizing up the wall, Tsiron ruffled through his satchel and found a grappling hook past the various notebooks, maps, charts, and diagrams-it never hurt to have one, as demonstrated by the infamous well incident-oh, the others never have let him live that one down!-and expertly hooked it onto the cornice.

After clambering up the wall, the tiefling ran atop the roofs of Almas. This was much more direct than the roads! Finally, after half an hour on the roof and lots of panicked civilians-he couldn’t really blame them, because even as a shadow, claws, wings, a tail, and scales are still scary-Tsiron came to the roof of the Restful Sanctuary. Better yet, it had a sunroof. Gliding over to the Sanctuary, he used a claw to etch a circle into the glass, and, quite literally, dropped in.

I've updated this alias with a character sheet for level 1, I'll level him up when I get home but the general idea is there.

the vitalist is pretty cool. I've got one in a group I run here at home. I think he's playing the soul thief build. Its pretty sweet. He can do some pretty severe damage and use some of it as healing

Oddly enough I've been tempted with the Wilder, sadly my Ultimate Psionics Hardback has yet to arrive so the PDF's will have to do for the moment. I'll throw them in my Dropbox tonight so I can have a proper look tomorrow at work.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Mines still on backorder as well. I just used the paperbacks

I will make an alias if required or upon acceptance.

Name: Thomas Stone, Human Male, TWW Fighter.

Backstory:
Born to Lord Richard and Yllena Stone, Thomas was the youngest of four siblings. The Stones were a very minor Cheliaxian noble house, noble due to their status as landowners only. Thomas’ father, Richard, was a retired Cheliaxian captain and heavy drinker. His mother enjoyed theatre and often had her children perform for her at the family estate.

Thomas’ two older brothers, Richard II and William, joined the military in their father’s footsteps. They left when Thomas was ten, this left him alone with , in his opinion, the most likable and sane of his family his sister Alliyanna. A strong bond formed between the two and she was Thomas’ closest childhood friend.

Leaving in the tradition of his family, for the military at fifteen, Thomas said his farewells and reported for assignment. Life in the military was not pleasant for Thomas, who had to follow in the footsteps of his successful brothers. And while Thomas had the discipline for Cheliaxian military life, it was not in him to attempt the underhanded power grabs and constant struggle for rank and distinguishment. After a violent encounter with a sergeant, named Gehrhald Vincento, in which, Thomas disfigured the commanding officer with a bladed blow to the jaw, he deserted.

Thomas’ desertion was met by being disowned by his family as his father was disgraced and his brothers wanted to distance themselves as to not hurt their own careers. Fleeing Cheliax, Thomas spent a destitute year on the road, surviving in the wild and making due with odd jobs on farms and at taverns as he made his way to Andoran. In Andoran he fell in with a group of roving bandits that appreciated his martial skill.

The band consisted of Bill Gorren, One-Eyed Jack, Charlie Temple, Liz Ossirs, Hurk Roggagr(an Orc), Helena Silveno and Thomas. For several years, they raided caravans in several countries always on the move. Thomas met the Pathmasters when the bandit group had made their way down towards Magnimar and ran into trouble with the local authorities, who hired Lady white and her group to deal with the outlaws. During the battle, Thomas was taken with the great beauty, Lady white, and he ended up switching sides after a brief discussion with her. Unfortuneatly his former band members wouldn’t surrender and in the following battle, the leader Bill’s lover Liz was slain as was Charlie. Convincing the Pathmasters to spare the lives of the remaining bandits, Thomas left with them and joined on, now 19.

For several years things went fine and all was well, the free spirited Thomas fit in well and he became secretly love struck over the worldly lady White. After the defeat of the Pathmasters and the death of lady white, The now 24 year old Thomas turned to the drink, working in different taverns as muscle or performing petty criminal tasks.

Possible plot hooks: Thomas’ brothers are disgraced by his living. His former Sergeant is now a major or general who has a vendetta. His sister could be in danger, or she was entered into politics and could pose a threat to Thomas for unknown reasons. His former band of thieves have reason to hate him. He has a vested interest in avenging the Lady White.

Personality: Thomas is a free spirited young man with a love for life, this has lessened lately due to his loss of a friend and his penchant for the bottle. He is loyal more to people who deserve it than to any law or system. The pathmasters bring out the best in him, give him a higher purpose and he would immediately answer any communications from them. He is a fairly average looking young man, black hair, tall, muscular, handsome. He is a dedicated swordsman and fierce friend.

Mine's the uber kickstarter collectors one with the bestiary inside it and all that jazz... problem being that you're hard-pressed to find anyone willing to allow Psionics for love nor money... not to mention it means getting my mitts on said book takes twice as long as any other kickstarter pledge they did lol.

Dotting for interest. Still have room? What are you thoughts on a Samsaren Oracle? I have a back story and everything in mind.

I also have a human rogue too in mind, game for all, really.

Well in my experience the majority of a game's opening line of recruitment consists of allowing anything so long as it isn't Psionics. I've not offered myself nor my own currency in order to sway them otherwise. However a little magic here and people are willing to offer themselves in my stead. Such is the wonder of Dominate Person after all.

As well as guns and summoners

Did you intentionally leave out the first "i" in your name, Dimitri?

Also, some more fluff concerning the sword.
Blackblade Kaetar and Blackfiend Blade Kaetar can project an illusion that looks like a black elven lady with shock-white hair. This is Kaetar, and the illusion is her means of communicating with people other than her bond-partner. However, Kaetar has developed a secret wish-to be able to fully physically manifest herself, rather than just and image with sound.

If you take my character, Swordlady, this would make a dem fine plot hook.

Curious, too: When will you decide on the characters for the campaign?

I'd say my monk belongs in the Skill category more than martial.

I've been keeping a word file of all the submissions, I'll be making my final choices on Friday night or Saturday morning, unless recruitment completely stops. As it is, I don't have final submissions from Psychicmachinery, The Fabricator, or Gavmania.

Ok I got everything done now. Ill post my background here. It may be a bit long, but I really like this character so I got all into it. If anyone cares to read it and give me feedback id welcome it

Background:
Found on a temple doorstep as a newborn and raised by monks, not much is known to him of his parents. His best guess is with the odds, that he was conceived by a human woman who didnt know she lay with a doppelganger and was overwhelmed upon his birth. This weighs on his mind none what so ever. The monks were always good to him. While he sometimes wondered if they were disappointed in his lack of discipline, they always treated him with love.

As a child he found a great deal of amusement in his racial abilities. For him, it was quite the game, developing separate personas and playing them out on strangers each time he left the temple. The monks weren't typically subject to his games, but the couple times they were they certainly saw it for what it was it was, childhood playfulness. Still, he was cautioned a great deal as to the seriousness of his ability and how some in the world might view it. He heeded this instruction and has never revealed himself to anyone outside his family. Being the ones who named him, they are also the only ones who know his true name.

As he grew into his teens he realized a psionic potential within himself. The monks of his temple were very happy with this. While he lacked their formal self discipline, this would be a good opportunity for him to embrace it. However, before they got the chance, fate played a card.

During the few years prior, he had developed quite a taste for gambling. Before this new opportunity to adhere to a life of discipline revealed itself, he had already gotten in pretty deep with the sharks. One day some hitters were sent after him. As he had already failed to pay up several times, they had been given the order to dump him in the river. At the time he felt little danger in borrowing this kind of money from such shady people. Not only was he confident he could pay it back, as all in his shoes are, but also if it caught up with him, he only needed to give them the slip and delete that persona from his inventory. And that's exactly what he did. However as he turned a corner to hide and take a different form, his haste and young age caused him to slip up. There was an onlooker who caught his transformation with her gaze. Her name was Sapphire White.

She didn't approach him immediately, but instead followed him for a short time, and when the time was right she befriended him. Over a few months he developed a keen fondness for her. Eventually she felt obligated to tell him that she had spotted him in that dark alley, giving those thugs the slip that day. At first he tried to talk his way out of it, but he found no reliability in his trusted silver tongue that day. His feelings for her caused him to be unwilling to give her the slip and he was foced to come to terms with her. He was in between a rock and a hard place, but for some reason her side seemed a bit softer.

When Lady Sapphire decided she wanted to put together a crew, Ransaq filled a much needed role. Not only did his small degree of psionic power show promise, but between his vast knowledge on many things, several languages spoken, and secret ability to take various form, he would make a wonderful spy when needed. Little did she know that his psionic power would eventually grow in the telepathic discipline, taking him from a wonderful spy to a flawless one and granting him deadly prowess and versatility.

Ransaq didn't excel at combat. His primary role for the Pathmasters was gathering information. Still, he was brave and used his one attribute, his quick reflexes, to his advantage. He learned to use a firearm to contribute in combat.

When the job came to deal with the Iron Dragons, no one saw what was coming. As Lady Sapphire fell, it seemed to happen in slow motion. All sound seemed to fade away into non existence. She looked him in the eye, and though her lips did not move, he could hear her beg him to run. This is the last thing he remembers before blacking out. He woke up in a bed. A party member informed him that when lady Sapphire fell, there was an explosion of energy that emanated from his body. It did devastating damage to the enemy, but they had already won, and Lady Sapphire had already fallen. They picked him up and carried him out of there in a hurry. He had been unconscious for 2 days.

After that the group fell apart and went separate ways. Ransaq went back home to his temple and mourned the loss of the only true friend he had outside the temple. The monks were eager to hear his stories. He hesitantly recounted his sorrowed tale of loss in portions over the course of several weeks. One of the elder monks eventually explained to him that the surge of power was a psionic manifestation. That his power has probably been laying in a mostly dormant state, and that the severe trauma had unleashed it. Shortly after he made the decision to center it, sharpen it, and use it to finish the job he had started with his beloved friend. When the letter came he hoped it to be an opportunity to do exactly that.

Gave it some thought last night, and my conclusion was that gestalt would much better represent most of them. Shy of that, you end up with some pretty vanilla builds (yours excluded).

Besides, I like Azrin.

Just uploaded the level 3 character sheet for this character and put it in the Alias. He's a Monk 2/Druid 1.

Just want to point something out: My magus is a melee weapon-enhance magi (since the triple archetyping-FF for more pool points, kensai to focus on melee, and BB to give me even more weapon enhance). Though I wouldn't mind being in Arcane, just to eliminate competition. And Tiger, since you are the only divine submission, you're probably gonna snag it.

Scarab Sages

I have a cleric level. I can swing that pixie stick with the best of them.

Though I would definitely enjoy having no competition in selection, this character should most likely not be considered divine. I guess he will end up with Monk 2/Druid 4 before going back into Monk, so he will have fairly close to full divine casting up until 6th level. I'll make sure to focus on healing/buffing with my slightly limited spell selection, if I'm chosen of course.

I'd be very interested in this game

Working on an Oracle with the Metal mystery. She's a devotee of Falayna and trained with the longsword. I'm still debating whether or not she'll become a Mystery Cultist later on. Basic idea is for her to be buffing herself and others.

If the DM is ok with it I'd like to make her Sapphire White's niece.

I was in doubt whether I'd go for this character or an Arcane Trickster, the lack of divine submissions pushed me towards this one.

Dang, I want that Damnation Step. Surrounded? No probs, plus teleporting to high-priority target AND damage.

Are you talking about the shadow well 9th level ability?

No, it's an exclusive Tiefling spell. Only for 9th level Wizzards doe. (The double z was intentional.)

So... while I was perusing the "Ultimate Equipment Guide" I came across something...odd.

There is a mention of a "Heavy Quickdraw shield" but I can find no costings or such?

Would it be okay to go ahead and extrapolate the costs of said heavy quickdraw shield?

Much cheers to all.

Just for fun I decided to convert the 3.5 changeling into a PF version using the rules in the APG. This ones PF official. I think its a little better

Hi. I'm a newbie when it comes to PbP and this looks interesting. Is it too late to submit? If not, without ado, I would like to submit Brother Stelin.

Background:
Brother Stelin knows not his origins. He was found at the steps of the Church of Irori in Almas, abandoned and alone, a swaddled bundle of green skin and feathery hair. The clerics at the Church brought the unique child to a nearby monastery where the Monks taught him to pursue self-perfection and knowledge above all else.

As Stelin developed, the Brothers at the monastery quickly realized that he had been touched by Outsider blood, causing his unique appearance. The Brothers of Irori helped Stelin hone his natural abilities and gain better control of his powers through personal discipline and meditation.

Throughout his time in isolated training, Stelin never stopped ceasing to wonder about his origins. He knew he was not from Andoran and that he was not destined to spend his life in the monastery. Upon reaching of age, and gaining the title of "Brother of Irori," Stelin set out to further his quest for enlightenment and seek answers about his heritage.

Eventually, he joined a group that called themselves the Golarian Pathmasters, led by Sapphire White. Despite their many successes, forevermore, any mention of that group, or even the word "sapphire" will bring Brother Stelin to that fateful day in Magnimar. He can still smell Sapphire's burning flesh from that weapon. It was enough to make anyone lose faith.

For awhile, Stelin even dropped the title of Brother when introducing himself, if he spoke to anyone at all. He rededicated his efforts to honing his skills, partially blaming himself for the tragedy of the Pathmasters, vowing to never allow such a horrible fate to befall upon another comrade or friend. It's much easier to keep that vow without any friends.

One day, and he still does not know how, a letter from one of his former companions reached him. With a sigh, Stelin read the letter. Setting the letter down, Stelin's face hardened with resolve.

This can only be a sign from Irori, he thought to himself. Here is an opportunity to atone for his previous failure. He must do everything in his power to make things right again, if only so he can continue his tortured journey towards enlightenment. Brother Stelin packed his few meager belongings, grabbed his bow, and set off once again into the unknown.

Appearance: Brother Stelin has emerald green skin with eyes of amber. His facial features are very sharp and angled. His pointy nose and chin are reminiscent of a bird's beak. Stelin's hair is in tufts with a texture like the body of a parrot or other fluffy bird. Finally, his fingernails are longer than normal humans, almost resembling talons.

Brother Stelin disdain's dirtiness or unfit appearances so he is always dressed in clean and pressed scholar's outfits or monk's robes. Whenever something soils his clothes or skin, he uses prestidigitation to clean the filth away.

Personality: Brother Stelin normally keeps to himself, preferring silence and observation, but will provide insight and guidance if asked. He views the world through a lens of stoicism that only life in a monastery can provide. One of the few times his eyes brighten is when presented with new knowledge or source of learning. Stelin eagerly soaks up all he can find, especially anything regarding good Outsiders.

Brother Stelin
Race: Plumekith (Garuda-blooded Aasimar), LN servant of Irori
Qinggong Zen Archer 3
Str: 14 (5)
Dex: 16 = 14 (5) + 2 (race)
Con: 13 (3)
Int: 10
Wis: 20 = 18 (17) + 2 (race)
Cha: 10

Traits:

Magical Talent (magic): Choose one 0 level spell and you can cast it once per day. (Prestidigitation)
Reactionary (combat): +2 to initiative
Scholar of the Great Beyond (faith): You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (planes) checks, and one of these skills (planes) is always a class skill for you.
Wisdom in the Flesh (Irori):Select any Strength-, Constitution-, or Dexterity-based skill. You may make checks with that skill using your Wisdom modifier instead of the skill's normal ability score. That skill is always a class skill for you. (Stealth)

Feats:
1st: Additional Traits
Monk 1: Improved Unarmed Strike
Zen 1: Flurry of Blows (bow only)
Zen 1: Perfect Strike
Zen 1: Precise Shot
Zen 2: Point-Blank Shot
Zen 2: Weapon Focus (longbow)
3rd: Deadly Aim
Monk 3: Fast Movement 10'
Zen 3: Zen Archery (Wis to hit with bows)

Brother Stelin has taken a Vow of Cleanliness. This is just for flavor unless you allow Zen Archers to take monk vows. Otherwise, he just uses prestidigitation to clean himself should he become dirty. He carries a Wand of Prestidigitation if you allow the Brother to use it since the spell is a known spell to him.

I hope there is still room. If not, any suggestions or comments on this backstory is still welcome.

EDIT: Also, how will HP be determined? Wealth will be WBL?
