Oread:

When Sustos was young his grandmother, Queenola Jaafkair, took him aside and told him of his heritage, how there was magic running through his blood that no one else would understand. His family tree had great beings upon its branches and he was one of them. The other was his great by three grandfather Selthos. Selthos had been a great warrior in his day and originated from the deserts of Osirion, though that was not known of him. He didn’t have a family until he was older, in his 50s. He looked similar to Sustos with tan hair and coal eyes but his skin took on a darker tone like slate. Although vague, her words rang true. As he aged his appearance changed and was very different from his peers. Rough and hard his skin was like soft stone, his eyes like coal, his muscle as steel. As his friends and family aged Sustos did not, his loved ones grew tall and then grey while he stayed the same. Determined to find out more detail pertaining to his heritage he set off toward a few leads, the earth bound dwarves and the magics of the genies. Sustos grew up with his parents who knew of his heritage and knew what he was when he was born. They were respectable people within the village they grew up.
Although he was shunned at first by peers’ parents and he went through a short bout of bullying, that all ended when people realized he was kind but not to be trifled with. He grew up in the city of Magnimar where he spent a lot of time getting odd looks from travelers who had never seen someone quite so different but the towns folk knew and they respected him for his deeds and loyalty.

God:

Sustos has been worshiping Torag for most of his life. He learned of the Dwarven god from the source, within one of the great mountain citadels he sought out to learn more of his heritage. Sustos was intrigued by the stories of Torag protecting Galorion from the Rough Beast. Sustos always felt his role in life was to protect those in need against all that would harm to them. Although his search did not end with the dwarves Sustos kept praying to Torag for guidance and Torag offered him a family while he searched for his past. The years Sustos spent in the mountains with the dwarves were some of the best he’s had. He made friends easily and learned much through the clergy. He worked within a large temple to Torag and held many a sermon about the duties he and the congregation have to protect the earth and its inhabitants when they are in need. Your weapon is a tool to be used sparingly but without hesitation, you are a shield first and protect those around you. The Dwarves were the ones who bestowed him with the title Guardian. He never turned down an opportunity to help someone and intervened in many fights that were not his own; be it talking through domestic disputes, fending off mountain giants or giving the poor and hungry a meal and a bed. Sustos does not tie himself to any particular temple anymore though he knows he will go back one day and visit for a long while when his quest is complete.

Present:

Sustos was most currently residing in the city of Sothis, Osirion where he had been for a few weeks. He gathered some information about caves to the south of Eto where he might find information of ancient Shaitans. He set to Eto and found the journey refreshing. He seemed at home in the intense environment that is the deserts of Osirion. After arriving at Eto to resupply he could feel the energy of his holy symbol call to him. He sat in meditative prayer for two days in the hot sun and cool nights. When he stopped feeling the call and was on the brink of exhaustion and dehydration Torag reward his stoic perseverance. In his minds eye the path to his destination played over and over again until he could never forget it. On he went to the caves, hopefully he was also going toward answers.

Appearance/Personality:

Sustos is not very tall for a human-like being, he's only 5 foot. Like a dwarf, what he lacks in height he makes up for in stoic tenacity. He's never been one to start a fight but always the one to defend his friends and loved ones, he will gladly take a blow for a friend in need. His grandmother, one of the biggest influences in his childhood, was a gypsy. Though he only saw her for short bouts that became less and less as he aged he'd always listen closely and respected her above everyone else. This is shown in his adult life by the clothes he wears and the people he befriends. Though he often wears his armor, his leisure wear consists of loose garb and scarfs. This really made him feel welcome when he arrived in Osirion, because he looked like he already belonged. He's always stood out being white as pearls, with coal black eyes and hair tan like limestone. His face has hard features but when he smiles they become soft soil. Although he has a sense of humor, others are put off because he rarely laughs outwardly. Sustos is calm, contemplative, steady and un-moving in his beliefs. This is what makes him love the clergy and fit for front line battle.

Questions Answered in Post Block:

His grandmother’s name is Queenola Jaafkair (being his father’s mother) and she is no longer alive having died when Sustos was in his early 20s (she was in her 90s. Though it was never confirmed to him or his family, the last time he saw her he was about 19, she simply has not been seen since.) She was a human and would have been a witch were she hero material, as it is she was a gypsy who dabbled with magic and alchemy.
Sustos is the only one of his family to be Oread since Queenola’s great-great-grandfather, Selthos, who was only just getting old when she was a child. This is where she learned of her and Sustos’ heritage. Selthos had been a great warrior in his day and originated from the deserts of Osirion, though that was not known of him. He didn’t have a family until he was older, in his 50s. He looked similar to Sustos with tan hair and coal eyes but his skin took on a darker tone like slate. That being said Oreads appear after several generations but it hasn’t been recorded in a way that’s easy to keep track of; so these two are the only ones known about currently.
Sustos grew up with his parents who knew of his heritage and knew what he was when he was born. They were respectable people within the village they grew up. I don’t know a ton about all of the areas in Golarian. I’m looking for a continental “warm summer” climate so somewhere in southern Varisia on the coast; maybe on the outskirts of Magnimar. I know it’s mostly human but there is some decent diversity allowing something like an Oread to live, after a while, without too much issue. I think. Although he was shunned at first by peers’ parents and he went through a short bout of bullying, that all ended when people realized he was kind but not to be trifled with.
I didn’t think about how the Dwarves would have reacted to his appearance but any praise given to him was taken humbly. This would have made his quest for knowledge easier as I’m sure the Dwarves would have been excited to teach someone like Sustos about their god and even more-so to have him join the ranks of their clergy. When he was called to move on Sustos did so with a heavy heart as he has made a good life in I can’t find the names of any of the Dwarven mountain cities, I unfortunately don’t have any of the books anymore but he knew this was not the place he would spend the rest of his life. As it is, Sustos does not tie himself to any particular temple anymore though he knows he will go back one day and visit for a long while when his quest is complete.
His current quest is in fact to find out more about his heritage which has brought him to his current locale. I use Shaitans as the Pathfinder appointed origin of Oreads. “Oreads are humans whose ancestry includes the touch of an elemental being of earth somewhere along the line, often that of a shaitan genie.”
