a vignette:
Rashka stands up from the table he was reading at, stretching and bumping his head on the celing, The sky is better, but I can cope. He turns and pushes aside the thin curtain that provides him some measure of privacy. He flags down the barmaid with a massive hand, and smiles at her. A right pretty woman, she is. "Girl! More ale, if you will." When she brings the drink he pays her silver coin and thanks her, "You may be the best reason to stay in Magnimar, Marisi. Thank you." The maid's smile is honest as she gives a whirl of her skirt, "'tis only candles and a table, Rahnna" and then she is gone beyond the curtain, keeping the small crowd in this cozy tavern happy.

His reading is more distracted by his thoughts than the tavern itself. He could hardly contain his excitement. Magnimar! he thinks, The City of Monuments! And this brute a Pathfinder. ha!

Background:
Rashka looks like any Shoanti brute. He is massive, immensely strong and clearly not to be trifled with. However, this is only the surface. In truth, for all of his brawn Rashka is actually an intellectual. He knew he did not fit with his tribesmen and as much as it pained him, he walked away. For many seasons he wandered until he met a man named Kostin Vishki, a Pathfinder. As their friendship developed, Rashka asked about becoming a pathfinder. Finally, a place where strength and thought are not two seperate concepts! After his induction, he moved back to his native Varisia. Magnimar had not changed, though he surely had. The city seemed less ominous, and more challenging now. This is my time, in this place where every stone is a totem."

Appearance:

Rashka is big. He towers over most men, thier heads only reaching his shoulder. His muscles bulge and flex with an eaqsy force that belies the intelligence in his dark eyes. His dark hair frames a face that would be more handsome if not for it's heavy whorls and spines of ink that clearly mark him as a Shaonti barbarian. His hands are rough, his face weathered. His clothing is a mix of barbarian's garb and finer cloth from the south.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Rashka takes pride in his differences, and does not want to be pushed into a box; he likes the freedom the Pathfinder Society gives him. He considers himself to be of the wind, moving where he will and doing as he pleases. He is not cruel, or even uncaring, in fact he is generous with his time sharing what he has learned. He likes to use his knowledge to solve problems, but always in his own way.
