I recently joined Forsaken Studios, an indie games studio. We're making a sandbox MMO called Embers of Caerus and we just launched our Kickstarter to raise funds for our prototype, which we'll be showing to investors to secure serious funding. Please swing by our Kickstarter page or our website and take a look. If you like what you see, we'd be hugely grateful for your pledge!

(Mods, if this belongs elsewhere, please move it to the proper place. Thanks!)

Can I be a real bore and raise this question again? Sorry :-)

I had hoped it would be addressed in Alpha 3, but there is no mention of it, so I'm bringing it up again.

What happens to those spells that were previously only available to clerics through their domains? Have they been folded into the general cleric list? Are they no longer available to clerics at all? Have they been removed from the game?

It's easy enough to houserule this one way or the other, but can we have clarification from the designers on this please?

Many thanks.

Simple question. Cleric domains in 3.5 granted spells, many of which don't appear anywhere else - having the domain was the only way a cleric could get these spells.

Now that domains don't grant spells but instead give powers, what is going to happen to these spells? Are they removed from the game? Placed on the general cleric list?

Could one of the designers please shed some light on this issue?

I've had a search through the archives but couldn't find anything that gave a clear answer. Apologies if this has been covered already - if so, I'd appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction :-)

Hi there,

I've just switched my subscription shipping options to "Hold subscription items for monthly shipment" and saw that there is a "Pathfinder Standard Shipping" option.

Other than the cheaper price, what is the difference between this option and the USPS Package Service?

Thanks!

I have my combined shipping options set to "Never Hold Anything". However, my most recent set of subscriptions (order #898399) are listed in my order history as all having been shipped together:
Classic Monsters Revisited, Pathfinder #8, GameMastery Module W2 and GameMastery Module D3, all listed as having been shipped on April 15 2008.

Is this correct? A large package like that arriving in the UK can unfortunately incur hefty customs charges and I'd intended to avoid that by having items shipped as they become available and paying separate shipping charges for each item.

(Or have these items just ended up being shipped together because they all arrived in the Paizo warehouse around the same time and thus went out together?)

Can I please get confirmation that my subscriptions are indeed being shipped separately? Many thanks!

Just read the interview with Jason Bulmahn in the blog. Rather than just being mainly marketing, there were a few cool nuggets in it that I thought deserved mention :-)

Jason Bulmahn's interview wrote:
When Paizo made the decision to go full steam ahead with ongoing 3.5 support, I brought the rules into the office and we began poring over them as a team. A lot of great work came out of the past few months with nearly everybody in our editorial staff offering up suggestions and ideas to make the rules even better.

Very cool to know that this has been a group effort, building on Jason's initial work. And you've all kept it so quiet, you sneaky devils, you!

Jason Bulmahn's interview wrote:
One of my favorites is adjusting the turn undead rules to also heal living creatures. This allows a cleric to actually cast some of his spells instead of saving them for healing. It also allows the party to adventure a bit longer.

I am fond of this as well. It's a good example of a discrete system that can be changed without affecting backwards compatibility (yes, I have a bee in my bonnet about that, not ashamed to admit it!) while also helping fix one of 3.5's perceived issues.

Jason Bulmahn's interview wrote:
Combine that with reusable powers for both wizards and clerics and you have a longer adventuring day, something the game sorely needed.

Yes indeed. As before, this is a system that can be plugged into existing material without affecting the stat-blocks. Me likey.

Jason Bulmahn's interview wrote:
Since the core books for the 3.5 edition of the game are about to be out of print, I think that the Pathfinder RPG will replace them as the common reference point for those who are still interested in playing the rules system.

For some reason this struck me as an incredibly bold statement, but I guess that it only makes sense. The 3.5 books are going out of print. It's just that I don't think it really sunk in until I read that. It occured to me that the Pathfinder RPG really is the future of 3.5. It's an odd feeling, but a cool one nevertheless.

Jason Bulmahn's interview wrote:
The changes to domains and arcane schools, the unification of the various combat maneuvers to one simple system, and the alterations to turning all seem to have surprised a number of people.

I was indeed surprised by the domain changes, but have come around to liking them after some thought. Maybe they could use a tweak, I dunno really. I haven't looked at the arcane schools much yet. Combat maneuvers, yeah, interesting idea that bears exploration.

Jason Bulmahn's interview wrote:
We changed Intimidate somewhat so that it can demoralize a foe for more than 1 round. It's not a huge change, but it makes the skill a much more interesting option than it was. Changing Dodge so that it is a flat +1 bonus to your Armor Class is another change that works to simplify the game by removing the pesky need to remember who you are using Dodge against.

Love both of these! Especially Dodge!

Anyway, I'm sure all these belong in other threads, but I just wanted to give a shout out and thanks for the interview. Great read and looking forward to more! Haven't been this thrilled about D&D gaming in ages!

Like the title says - Necro have announced that they will move over to 4e in partnership with Paizo. Have Paizo made a clear decision in this regard (or did I miss an announcement about it)?

I just wanted to check on the estimated shipping time for my print copy of W1 "Cpnquest of Bloodsworn Vale". My subscriptions page says that it shipped on August 3rd but I have not yet received it. I'd normally wait a little longer before asking, but D1 arrived in a very short time indeed, so I thought I should check on this one. Many thanks in advance for your help!

My copy arrived today (Cambridgeshire UK).

Dungeon 147 arrived through my letterbox today. Looks like a great issue :-)

Not a question or a complaint, but a quick word of thanks.

My most recent Paizo order arrived this morning. I was hoping that the Combat Pad I ordered would be included, but the invoice says that it is on back order. No problem - no rush :-)

But lying in the top of the package was a free Item Cards booster pack (Hero's Hoard or something like that...) Free! You folks didn't need to do this, but it was a really nice touch and I just wanted to say thanks. It was a nice little reminder that I made the right choice in signing up for Pathfinder right away. You folks are great!

(So I went and ordered a bunch of Gamemastery goodies right away. Class like your deserves solid support, and you have mine!)

Has anyone else in the UK or Europe received Dragon #353 yet? A friend of mine who also subscribes received his a short time ago but I have yet to receive my subscription copy. So I'm wanting to see if I am alone in this or if I should ask Customer Service to send me out a replacement? Many thanks!

I noticed that the release date for the Campaign Workbook now says that preorders will be available in December. Has it been delayed again for some reason? Looking forward to this product a great deal!

How cool was the Savage Tidings article in issue 350? This ranks as the best AP support article I have seen to date. Chock full of useful material, it sets the standard for all future article of this type, imho. The gazetteer was immediately useful, the replacement characters a brilliant idea and the feats and affiliation made a great bit of crunchy bonus material. Big tip of the hat to the authors!

The postman just delivered today's mail - no Dragon 348 or Dungeon 139.

I'd like to request clarification on when I can expect these issues, please. If there is no firm word by close of business today (US time), I'll request a reshipment from Paizo.

I understand that there are problems with The Place For Games, but my subscription is with Paizo, not TPfG. The isses are now long overdue and a speedy resolution to this matter would be much appreciated.

Many thanks to Paizo for the feedback and support they have given in this matter so far. Let's hope we can get this sorted out a.s.a.p.

I am a veteran DM (37) looking for enthusiastic players in the Cambridge area. I have been running games since 1982 and am also currently a lead designer with the Dark Sun 3rd Edition team.

My style is intense, immersive and campaign-based, with plenty of action, drama and intrigue. I am interested in running games for D&D 3.5, set my own sprawling homebrew but also incorporating published material from various sources (Paizo, Malhavoc, Necromancer Games and some old-school 1st and 2nd edition classics). And, of course, with a hefty dose of Dark Sun thrown in for good measure.

I am also interested in running Torg games and World of Darkness games (old WoD only, especially Mage and Dark Ages). Ideally, these would alternate with D&D for a change of pace or flavour from time to time.

Family commitments mean that I am able to play only on a Friday evening (from 8 until late) and need to host all games. I am therefore looking for players who can commit to regular games with the promise of solid, frequent campaign play.

Interested? Have any questions? Post below!

Cheers!

M.

Just a quick note to say that Dungeon #135 arrived in Cambridgeshire UK this morning - looks good :-)

For the last few months Dungeon and Dragon have been arriving together. Today I just got Dungeon on its own, so I am guessing that the UK distributor has stopped waiting for Dragon to arrive before mailing both of them, and that Dragon will arrive in a week or two.

Either that or monkeys stole it. I have trouble with monkeys so that is a distinct possibility...
