Dwozer clanks down the stairs as quickly as his armor will allow. Dwozer hurry over there. Dwozer do this. Dwozer don't do that.
Slightly out of breath, he moves up behind Rumble's weapon arm and looks at the young noblewoman. "Let me guess. You aren't responsible for your servant's actions."
Dwozer nods at Anastasia when her spell stuns the dangerous creature, but when three more dragons appear, he simply walks away, placing a hand on Pavo's shoulder as he passes the talkative young man.
Once it attacks me, it will probably keep doing so. That means you guys could move into melee and aid another for defense. With an AC of 25+, I should be able to last the minute required for Diplomacy.
Dwozer steps closer, eyes locked on the hippogriff. Though he looks relaxed, he still stands on the balls of his feet, ready to act. Ours is to do and die.
Dwozer opens his mind for a moment, "Would you recognize this 'shiny person'?" then closes it again. Definitely one of the new stuffed shirts. Time for its first washing!
"Because you never learned never to volunteer for anything."
Dwozer begins throwing a glowing gem into the air and catching it, projecting his voice into the room. "We could even take out the dirty laundry for you--stuffed shirts are my specialty."
Dwozer waves a hand at Pavo, then looks at Thranalas for a few seconds before beckoning the elf as well. Once the two are close, he leans forward and whispers, "I've been known to assume the worst of his type, so maybe it's nothing. But that fop seemed more nervous than he should have."
Subtle? From Pavo? I hope you aren't surprised that didn't work :-p
Dwozer pivots his head slowly to look at the tall, gentle man and says, "No." Then he stares at the portly woman's purple dress a moment before walking back to the kitchen. Clearly waiting until he is moving away from her, Dwozer says, "It's a pity alright."
Dwozer smiles at Pavo, then draws one of the few remaining cards. "Better lucky than good."
He looks at the card for a few seconds, then turns it away from himself so that others can see. The Foreign Trader? If that means I'm supposed to talk to those wealthy travelers Zeeva mentioned . . .
Dwozer coughs lightly, then maintains eye contact until Zeeva finishes answering his question. "What do these places mean to you? The Frisky Unicorn and the Kendall Amphitheater."
I wonder if there's cards in that deck for the three of us: the wizard who talks too much, the wizard who can't talk much, and the wizard who listens.
"Clearly, the fortune teller knows something important. Why else hide?"
Dwozer pulls at his beard twice, then says, "I know of many betrayals and no crickets, but only one unicorn--The Frisky Unicorn bed and breakfast in the Heights District."
Dwozer dips his head in a single nod as Pavo finishes his question, then addresses Zeeva, "The more you help us now, the better we can help you later."
To Rumble, he says, "We shouted in your ears and threw cold water on your face, but neither got through that beard. Perhaps you should trim it."
Dwozer turns his head left then right, scanning the crowd. His gaze pauses on the attentive tabby cat, then settles on the guards. He walks directly toward them and stares at their equipment a moment, before looking their sergeant in the eye. "Sergeant. Zeeva Foxglove?"
Knowledge (arcana):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21Is the tabby cat a familiar?
"Well then," Dwozer retrieves a brightly glowing gem and hangs it from his belt, then spits in his hands and tests the grip on his greatsword. "Here's hoping this isn't more stupidity than my life is worth."
Alexandrite gem from one of the evergreens. It's basically a suped-up continual flame.
"Remember when Ms. Yuul repeatedly ignored my concerns and assured us that the ritual would be safe? Well, there's no reason to add our own stupidity to hers. I, for one, would like to sleep safely in my own bed tonight."
To be clear, are we being offered a trade? We get to leave safely if we leave our boss behind? Because Dwozer is definitely not the type to risk his neck a second time, right after saving it from said boss' stupidity.
Out of character though, that's probably not the best course of action.
I will be visiting out of town family through Sunday night, so please bot me as necessary. I will try to sneak in a post here and there, but no guarantees.
