Danath's Description:

Standing at exactly six foot tall and weighing in at 180 lbs Danath looks every bit as regal and majestic as his title would suggest. Being an actual soldier was a bonus and added to his shining example to Brevoy. His armor and weapons were kept well-honed and pristine, cleaned daily by his hands alone as he cared for his Dragon Scaled Kikko armor. A parting gift from his secret mentor and tutor Lin the Silver Dragon.

He has black hair cropped short in an even soldiers cut, while his eyes are grey like storm clouds and tinged with silver on the edge's. He bears no scars on his clean shaven face and his features are hardened by experience in the field and time spent in the mountains. When he smiles though its infectious, a true sign to be at ease while celebrating life and freedom.

Most of his gear is gilded in silver or platinum save for his small buckler which appears to be made of a light and durable darkwood. He rides into battle on the back of a powerful and well trained war elk with a pair of long horns on either side of its head that bears the heraldry of the Silver Dragonflight on its parade armor. To those who have spent time around it have a hard time not admitting the beast is smarter then your common steed and more well trained at that.

Personality:

His very existence espoused freedom, equality and happiness. These were paramount to Danath despite his rigid upbringing and being raised in a well-ordered and lawful family. He believes in the tenants of the Drunken God and lives to fulfill the destiny laid out before him by his draconic mentor. He leads the Silver Dragonflight with the hardened experience he has earned over the years and with the burning need to forge a lasting and beautiful nations To throw down tyranny and corruption in all its forms so that a free nation could emerge. He teaches his ideal's to those who will listen, often captivating those who listen with his devotion to his worthy and great cause.

Despite his soldier's attitude he is an open and friendly men to those who know him best. Spending his time training, teaching and mentoring others to become as strong as he is. If not better! He enjoys tomes on philosophy, history and legends, no matter how obscure. In his off time he is either training, mentoring or reading, prior to planning his next battle strategy or march on the map of the Greenbelt.

When he is with Seraph his hardened shell cracks ever so much, shattering completely if they ever get a moment to themselves and revealing his absolute devotion to his partner. He would truly be at a loss if she were to leave his side forever and for now her presence helps uplift him and push him forward in the pursuit of his ideals.

Lord Danath Orvolsky History:

Birth:

Danath was born as a son of Baron Poul Orlovsky alongside his fraternal twin sister, Joana, in the fortress of Skywatch in northern Brevoy. It was there that he first met the Silver Dragon Lindórievórea, who would become a powerful influence in his life. Literally shaping the man he would become in his adulthood.

Youth:

He was quickly and strictly schooled and trained in how a child of his noble rank was to act and behave at all times. His childhood was loveless as his parents were always embroiled in the Political mire that made up Brevoy’s ever tenuous peace between Issian’s and Rostlanders. The only light in his younger years was his nursemaid and nanny Veara who treated him and his twin sister warmly. Veara often secreted them away for short periods on fantastic adventures far from the dregs and doldrums of the family villa.

Teen:

When he grew into young adulthood Veara vanished from his life like she never existed, disappearing the night of his thirteenth birthday. She left him a tome filled with moral codes, philosophy and the thoughts of equality for all; this singular book is his most treasured possession. When he demanded answers as to where she had gone he was met with a cold response of she was deemed no longer necessary. After that day he started to resent the rigidness of Nobility and since her disappearance his training intensified to the point he could see no end to it. When he wasn’t being schooled with books, then he was with tutors training him in martial, social or intellectual practices. Despite the longing of his childhood adventures he took to these coming of age tasks with a resolute and diligent manner. Often surprising his tutors with how quickly he picked up on the nuances in each set of training, it wasn’t long before he mastered the core basics. However through it all he read that tome until he knew it page by page; line by line. Engraving it’s message into his memory for all time.

By age fifteen he was a swordsman in full bloom, capable of standing against men two to three times his experience and often besting his elders in his pursuit for perfection. He often employed his skill with a blade when improper suitors came for his twin Joana, if she didn’t approve of them then they either left defeated and alive or dead. Most of these suitors would send their best swordsman against him, only to be insulted when the poor fool was bested in combat by the Orvolsky prodigy. This unwavering defense of his twin earned him several rivals and the personal hatred of a number of House Surtova retainers who had been trying to tie House Orvolsky to Surtova for political leverage. Failing at that these retainers set in motion a savage plot to kidnap his sister.

In the middle of his sixteenth year Danath and his sister were traveling from Castle Stoneclimb back to Eagles Watch after successfully treating with house Medvyed and hopefully arranging a strong marriage with one of the lesser lords of their realm. One that even Danath begrudgingly accepted as suitable for his sister, this was no surprise as she was enamored with the man from the moment they met. His long vigil being over Danath allowed his usual rigid vigilant nature to slip.

A costly mistake…

Having left the safety of the lower Icerime peak mountain paths, they crossed the lowlands and entered the ancient Gronzi forest. It wasn’t until they started to cross one of the bridges that allowed them to avoid the overly swollen rivers during the spring snow melt that they were suddenly attacked. Their attackers outnumbered the Orvolsky retainers three to one and moved swiftly to overpower the rear guard in an attempt to abduct Joana. However they didn’t expect the tenacity of Danath’s hand-picked honor guard. These young men were almost as skilled as Danath and turned what looked to be a one sided battle into an even death match with their attackers.

The fight was long and brutal; blood ran freely over the wooden boards of the bridge and before long both sides became even numbered. As attrition took its toll it was hard to tell who would come out on top, Danath had been wounded, a crossbow bolt in the side had slowed him considerably and his breastplate had been damaged when he took a war hammer to the chest. Despite his broken ribs he stood his ground to protect his beloved twin at all costs.

As the fight came to its endgame Danath noticed one of their attackers retreat to the edge of the bridge and started to speak in a language he couldn’t understand. He felt a sudden chill and looked to see the eyes of his sister grow vacant and expressionless; realizing what was afoot he cursed the black mage that stood before him. With little recourse he charged the man, intent to kill him by driving them both into the river and save his sister if at all possible. His charge was heroic, seen by the last of his retainers as he threw himself and the screaming mage into the swollen rapids of the East Sellen River. No one could have saved him from the river’s current which swept him away as soon as he hit the water. As he hit the water he buried his dagger in the man’s throat as they tumbled down river and into the rapids.

Little did he know at the time the plot had been revealed, too late for the Medvyed family to prevent and, as Danath disappeared beneath the foaming water, a patrol of the personal guard arrived to mop up the remaining abductors. Joana was oblivious to what had happened until later that night when the Medvyed Court Wizard broke the enchantment that held her. It was then that she learned her brother had died.

He had been swept away, for how long he didn’t know as he fought the current, bleeding from his injuries as the water prevented them from closing. The crossbow bolt in his side was driven deeper when he smashed into an underwater rock. Which, subsequently, knocked him unconscious; as darkness overtook him he knew he would die in the river.

It came as a surprise when he awoke warm, alive with his injuries tended to; he was resting in front a blazing hearth. Where he had come to be he was at first unsure his surroundings were that of worked stone the like of which was used in the construction of a fortified structure, save for the fact the room he was in was gargantuan in size. Treasure laid neatly stacked all around the edges of the room. Sets of armor, from several different era’s, sat along similarly aged weapons and chests that he assumed held unimaginable wealth. It was a long time before he met his savior, which shocked to the core, because they were in fact a powerful and tall silver dragon with resplendent silver scales.

When it bedded down near him he found he wasn’t afraid, that he was comfortable with its presence. He started to wonder what shocked him more, that he had been saved by a dragon or that he wasn’t afraid of it at all. He didn’t have long to wonder when it spoke to him and introduced itself as Lindórievórea, defender of the East Icerime Mountains. The surprises kept coming when it told him he couldn’t leave…

Its intention was to continue teaching him where she had left off. It was then its form shifted, becoming human in both size and appearance and for a moment his heart stilled. Veara stood before him, as young as the day she disappeared and with a grin the dragon explained that she had stayed as close as she could to him and his sister. She had been honestly surprised in how they turned out and hadn’t planned on intervening until he fell into the river.

He was saddened when she revealed his twin had fallen into depression with his supposed passing for a time and that his entire family believed him dead. Lost to the river and the plots of some of House Surtova’s retainers, who he was surprised to find out were revealed and subsequently executed for their blatant assault on a child of Noble standing. House Surtova disavowed any knowledge of their actions and abandoned them to the gallows when some of house Medvyed retainers and House Orvolsky demanded justice for Danath’s wrongful death and the slaying of several of his honor guard.

Without any other choice he accepted the dragon’s proposal and for several years he remained in the unknown fortress high in the Icerime Mountains. Under the personal tutelage of the Silver Dragon Lindórievórea, why she chose to become his mentor he was unsure. But he was more than thankful for the time he spent there, knowing it to be the best years of his life…

Adulthood

Now twenty years old, he emerged from the mountains astride what appeared to be an elk. Clad in parade armor edged with silver and the color of platinum made it stand out no matter the environment it was in. Shining in the snow, glinting in the forests and awing those in the streets as this unknown Knight rode across Brevoy with foreign heraldry. Clad in platinum colored armor, edged in silver and bearing a horned dragon helm. Danath rode stoically towards where his sister called home, bearing the heraldry of a banner with a silver dragon on it. Naturally the appearance of such a man, riding tirelessly in one direction was the source of much talk. Talk which reached the ears of the noble houses of Brevoy, some ignored it as some upstart foreigner.

It wasn’t until he reached the outskirts of Castle Stoneclimb that he was challenged by the personal bodyguard of the noblemen who married his twin sister. When he revealed himself and announced who he was, while asking very politely to see his sister, he was met with outright scorn. Impersonating a noble was an offense in Brevoy especially one who was regarded highly by this particular family. When they tried to arrest him he bested them with nothing but his sword while astride his quick footed Elk mount.

From there he bulled his way in and demanded, much louder, with his clarion voice to see his sister. Luckily she was at home and emerged alongside the on rush of men-at-arms who moved to defend the manner from the mounted intruder. At first she didn’t recognize him, not with his helm shut and astride such a strange beast. But upon seeing her he sheathed his sword before opening his helm and for a moment the shock of seeing his face nearly made her swoon. Her brother had returned home, seemingly from the land of the dead…

Brevoy was temporarily abuzz with the return of the Danath an unlikely event as all had assumed him dead when he never returned and his body having remained unfound. The word reached the ear of his father in less than a fortnight and in that time he spent long hours catching up with his sister and meeting, for the first time, his niece and nephew Adriana and Danath the II. His time spent with her was fleeting and eventually became uneasy when she asked him where he had been and he gave her nothing more than. Far, Far away dear sister. Despite feeling deep down that he had lied to her she dropped the subject and allowed him his secrets, thankful that he had returned home. However the dragon banner he carried now unsettled her more than the stony silence he gave her when she asked him where he had been.

A messenger arrived as Danath was just setting off heading in the direction of their family home to face his parents for the first time in years. His father was riding to meet him and the messenger was to accompany him to a village just between Eagle Watch and Castle Stoneclimb. After a few days of riding they arrived to find a small company camped alongside the village, his Houses heraldry flying proudly over his father’s command tent. The happiness of their reunion was short lived when Danath refused to abandon his new heraldry when his father command it, despite his outrage at his son’s defiance Baron Poul Orlovsky couldn’t lose face and allowed his son to carry his foreign banner under the limitation that he could only bear it again once he had acquired his own retainers.

Present

Over the last two years he has gathered his forces, a small military force he named the Silver Dragonflight, secretly to honor his mentor and to herald what the band would become in the years that followed. Despite flying his own banner and being the son of House Orvolsky he was surprised to find his father supporting his group. Surprising Danath further with the funds to arm and trained them to become a more ordered and martially sound combat unit.

During his two years he met Seraph Whitemoor and aided her in escaping a unjust sentence by the lash. She gained his respect when she refused to punish those who had wrongfully judged her and he had her join their growing military force. A few days in and she revealed to him she had no memory of anything before a few weeks ago, suffering from amnesia she proved of little use at first to the Silver Dragonflight band. That was until Danath took her under his wing and taught her everything he knew of how to be a knight as quickly as he could. She continued to impress as she quickly caught on to the martial skills o being a soldier and once she had it down packed he turned to more social exercises. It wasn't long before she was accompanying him to noble events; which he was more or less forcing her to go to help break her of her discomfort around nobility.

From there she became one of his closest confidantes and she was well respected among the other soldiers and craftsmen in the Dragonflight company. It was only a few months after he named her his Captain that things became more involved and a forbidden romance bloomed between Danath and his Fiery Haired Captain Seraph. Despite them being involved they're were complications that kept them at arms length. Much to Seraph's frustration as their romance had to remain secret lest Danath push his father too far and lose his support completely.

As the second year wore on he gathered a few aristocrats to join his band and even a Halfing Taldan Knight as well. Numbering over thirty members the Silver Dragonflight stood fairly strong; despite not having a true house or land to call their own. It wasn’t long after the formation of the Silver Dragonflight that Skywatch shut their doors seemingly permanently and the entire royal family; house Rogarvia, vanished apparently at the same time. The tense political atmosphere that hovers over Brevoy is stifling as the remaining noble houses rattle the sword and make threats now that House Surtova has claimed the Dragonthrone. Even his father is of the mind to rise up and take the throne for himself or someone more worthy and Danath was worried that him and his company would be dragged into this useless political mess. However he didn’t plan on sacrificing his band, not for something uncertain and instead turned his gaze to the Stolen Lands.

Despite the lawless nature and chaotic way that the Greenbelt had changed hands so often Danath believed he could etch out a place of their own there. Build a new kingdom from the ground up, based around the teachings of his mentor and his own moral convictions. He knew that with the Silver Dragonflight behind him and the continued aid of his father he stood a good chance of succeeding.

It was during a foray into the greenbelt they clashed with the Rugtuff goblins and they attempted to stamp out the pests through force of arms. Sadly however the little cretins escaped and after the battle the Silver Dragonflight ran into a band of foreigners, one of which was astride a fantastic reptilian beast with great bony plates extending from its back and a deadly looking tail swinging lazily behind the creature. He knew these supposed brigands to be the Mwangian’s who had camped on the southern outskirts of Brevoy for the last two years. Ni’Tir, Xi’Tir and their Followers of the Green Faith and despite how strange they seemed Danath decided to make camp with them to see if they were trustworthy or not.

That night the tension was almost palpable as they shared a camp and shared stories of their missions. He found Ni’Tir’s prophetic tail to be hard to swallow; he’d never met a member of this Technic League and had only heard tall tales more akin to Bogey-Men then actual truth about them. However, he longed to believe her for some reason, he did not know if it was her conviction or sheer drive she had to stop this catastrophe from happening that encouraged him to believe her.

The next day they combined their forces and stormed a known holdout for monstrous humanoids in the area, a well-known ruin turned bandit camp that the goblins and hobgoblins were now using to orchestrate raids on nearby villages and farming communities. With the help of Ni’Tir’s forces, they were able to clear the ruin in less than a day. Finally ending the threat of raids on Brevoy’s border. Ni’Tir and her people had been instrumental in keeping his men on their feet. However now that he was in the Greenbelt, he couldn’t help but feel something pulling him to this place south of Brevoy. He felt strongly to just plant his banner and claim it for their own, but the time was not right yet, the needed to come about this without being rash and when the time was right, they would indeed seize their opportunity…

The opportunity came in the form of a decree in Restov, a call for adventurers and well to do’s who wanted to aid all of Brevoy by claiming the Stolen Lands in her name. It was an easy choice for Danath and within hours of signing he prepared his men to march farther south than ever before…

Crunch – What drives this character!:

The wisdom of his mentor is the biggest factor driving him to create a nation guided by his morals and belief’s, while simultaneously the corruption that is rife throughout Brevoy has driven him into a corner as he doesn’t have the strength to try and fix a nation that may be beyond saving.

At least not until he has the strength to come and conquer it in her name…
His love for Seraph has been growing exponentially since they met and he has a hard time not treating her more warmly when they are together. He has a hard time understanding this innate connection they share. Despite it making some of his decisions harder, especially those that put her in harm’s way, he finds her a constant source of strength when he needs it most. Out of all of his followers, she is the most loyal in his mind.

He has a long-standing feud with his older siblings as they stand to gain everything while he gains but a meager share if anything at all when their father passes. However now that a possible civil war is about to break out they are starting to mimic his idea of forming their own loyal companies of retainers and he fears they may try and take a portion of the greenbelt or war amongst themselves if Civil war breaks out…

If he succeeds in forming a new nation, he plans to absorb the downtrodden peasants of Brevoy’s lower class, grant them land titles and help to motivate them to prosper in a new nation. He has to claim land first though…

For simplicity sake:
-He hates the exploitation of the weak by the strong or using corrupt laws.
-He believes in fairer laws that allow the people greater freedoms and protection from oppression or tyrannical rule.
-He wishes to create a nation ruled by the people instead of a hereditary monarchy.
-He will strive to create a nation that is not beholden to Brevoy in anyway in the hopes that it will force the warring factions to band together against a common enemy.
-If his vision succeeds, he plans to work to reform Brevoy from within and eventually join the two nations together peacefully.
