Just trying to add to the arsenal

The first, the tzefa.

Tzefa
A curved 18 inch blade with a long handle suitable for one or two handed use. A tzefa may be used as a Martial Weapon (in which case it functions as a scimitar) but if you have the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (tzefa) you can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls with a tzefa sized for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon.

Tzefa/20 GP/1d4(S)/1d6(M)/18-20x2/--/3 lbs./S

The second, the saraph

Saraph
Looking like a larger version of a tzefa, the saraph has an 36 inch curved blade and a 12 inch long hilt. It is too large to be used one handed normally, making it a two handed Martial Weapon. With Exotic Weapon proficiency (saraph) the weapon may be wielded one handed. In addition, but if you have the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (saraph) you can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls with a saraph sized for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon.

Saraph/40 GP/1d6(S)/1d8(M)/18-20x2/--/5 lbs/S

Logic: Tzefa

Spoiler:

The two 1d6/18-20/x2 weapons in the CRB are the scimitar and the rapier. The scimitar can’t be finessed, the rapier can’t be used two handed for extra strength bonus. So the EWP allows the best of both weapons.

Logic: Seraph
Spoiler:
Two handed the saraph is a slightly inferior falchion. EWP to make it one handed would make it a ‘bastard scimitar’ but I wanted to give it a little extra, so I added the Finesse trait like its ‘little brother’. It makes it ‘better’ than the bastard sword, but is that enough to break it?

I like the Saraph, but the Tzefa feels to me like you're just trying to skip out on feat-taxation. A trait for their locale that lets them use a 'Foreign Scimitar called a Tzefa' as a finesse weapon seems better to me...

The Saraph I actually like as is.

Thank you.

I'm not sure about what you mean 'skipping out on feat-taxation'. The tzefa basically steals from the Aldori dueling sword, It can be a martial weapon (essentially a scimitar) for characters with Martial Weapon Proficiency, or you can take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency to make it finessable. The Aldori dueling sword works the same way.

Edit: unless you meant that a character without Martial Weapon Proficiency would just take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat instead. But then the same holds true for our friends the bastard sword and the Aldori dueling sword.

No, they don't. Well kind of.*

And yes, I'm using the Israeli names, because they sound cool.

*

Spoiler:
I am looking for feedback hoping to confirm their balance but I'm thinking about using them for katana/wakazashi Just didn't want to call them that to avoid the thread being bogged down with Katanaza R teh awzome crap.

That said, the names do sound cool, don't they?

No other comments?

Honestly, I just give that ability to scimitars anyway.
