As some of you know, we have some fancy messageboard titles for people who subscribe to a bunch of our lines, and, with the advent of the new Pathfinder Fiction Subscription, two of them are about to change.
First, there's the Paizo Superscriber tag. To get that tag, one must sign up for every subscription Paizo offers; by definition, that means that folks will need to add a Pathfinder Fiction sub to keep that tag. We won't add that requirement immediately—it'll take effect in about a month.
The other tag that will be affected is the Pathfinder Chronicles Superscriber tag. We're actually going to be doing a slight bit of rebranding on a few of our product lines in the near future (we're not ready to make any formal announcements just yet, but attentive readers will find some clues in Erik's recent Paizo Blog), and those changes, plus the Pathfinder Fiction subscription, will be affecting the Pathfinder Chronicles Superscriber tag in the near future. As I mentioned, we're not quite ready to reveal the details yet, but we'll also be making that tag change in about a month. We'll let you know more in the coming weeks.
For now, subscribing to Pathfinder Fiction will add the Pathfinder Fiction subscriber tag to everyone.

I'm guessing there's going to be a Campaign Setting subscription to separate from the other hard covers and/or chronicles so that people who just want the non-Golarion content is not forced to get it in their subscription and given the price of hardcovers, not necessarily included in the Chronicles line, either?

I'm not sure I understand your question. If you want only non-Golarion content, you just want the regular Pathfinder RPG Subscription.
Urizen |
Yeah, that came out fubar.
What I meant to say that I suspect that you're going to come out with a Pathfinder Campaign Setting Hard Cover series and separate that from the Chronicles line due to the difference in prices. So those who just want the RPG does not need to be trifled with the Campaign Setting and those who may not be able to afford the Campaign Setting H/C will not have to worry about it being bundled with Chronicles soft-cover. In case after the Inner Sea, you'll come out with your Tian Xia setting hardcover, etc.
Did that make sense?

I think I got the question this time... but any potential future campaign setting hardcovers would not come anywhere near frequently enough to merit a separate subscription. The new Campaign Setting book will be continue to be part of the same subscription as the softcover sourcebooks, just like the last hardcover was.

I'm guessing Vic is alluding to the rebranding of the Companion line to Pathfinder Player Companion (as expressed by Erik in his blog post), thus making this line entirely player focused (vs. the GM focused Chronicles line). Some future titles might even shift from Chronicles to the (Player) Companion line and vice versa.
Actually, the whole Chronicles line might get renamed to something with Campaign Setting or maybe Golarion in it.

Ah, ok. I was just guessing away. I had bought the original campaign setting @ Barnes & Noble; which was my initial exposure. I didn't jump on board with any subscriptions until last August.

That sounds likely, I wonder what the longest tagline will be now?

Note that Erik refers to the new hardcover as Pathfinder Campaign Setting World Guide: The Inner Sea. Note the missing "Chronicles" there. Further down, Erik refers to the "Campaign Setting product line", so indeed it looks like we are in for Pathfinder Campaign Setting in the future.

Thanks! That's what I was originally focusing on.

Yes, it seems that the chronicles line will change name to "Campaign Setting product line".

We put off making these changes for reasons that will become clear soon... but these changes will probably be going into effect next week.

I like the Chronicles term, and I'll be sorry to see it go.
However, I can see how it would be confusing for new customers so I'm sure it makes business sense.
(Of course, the real reason for posting this was to see how long my tags had got!)
Ah, but it's not the length of the tags that matters, it's the quality :)

True, but I've yet to be able to push myself to upgrade my tag :-)

Um.. we haven't told you *how* things will change yet; just that they will.
Evidence indicates that the Companion line is becoming Pathfinder Player Companion, which would explain why there's no published cover for Orcs of Golarion at the moment. My theory is that we haven't seen a Prince of Wolves cover yet because the novel ties in with an as-yet-unannounced product or series of products.
I have no guess as to how tags will change when these announcements are made, though.

Oh-m'god. If you guys launch another line of stuff that I have to subscribe to, my wife's and financial planner's heads are going to explode. If that happens I'm sending you the cleaning bill.

No new lines of stuff. If I added another line of stuff, your wife's and financial planner's heads wouldn't be the only one exploding. The cleaning bill here at the office would be astronomical!

We've made these changes, based on the rebranding of some of our product lines. To be clear:
If you have Pathfinder Campaign Setting, Pathfinder Adventure Path, Pathfinder Player Companion, Pathfinder Modules, *and* Pathfinder Tales subscriptions, you're now a Pathfinder Campaign Setting Superscriber.
If you *also* have a Pathfinder RPG subscription, you're a Pathfinder Superscriber.
And, as before, if you have Planet Stories and both GameMastery subscriptions as well, you're a Paizo Superscriber.
And if you subscribed to the Pathfinder Adventure Path way back before we shipped our first volume, and have never missed a volume, the appropriate tag is still prepended with "Charter."
We've also shortened many tags in general by removing redundant "Pathfinder"s.
