A group of soldiers stood in a nervous group, quietly muttering and murmuring.

They didn't know what was happening to them, only that whatever had been happening, that removed their leaders one by one, that removed their contact with the outside world, had just gotten a lot worse.

Like many of those chosen to guard the keep of the Northern border they were without leadership. A fact not helped by Corporal Retheld taking three of their commrades to investigate recent events. He had not returned.

There was rumours from a passing patrol, who were even more nervous than they, that there was fighting up near Lord Thomas's quarters.

Since it had moved on they'd been left alone. Only the occassional scream and ring of steel on steel hinted at what was happening through the keep.

So caught up in their deliberations were they that they only noticed the creaking and clatter of armoured footsteps when it was nearly upon them. They formed up, spears and swords held tightly by trembling fingers.

A giant of a man seemingly filled the corridor as it strode towards them. A blood stained sword in one hand and the head of Lord Thomas Havelyn dangling from the hair of its head in the other!

The group of smirking cuttroats and gloating diabolicalists behind him only added to their knee trembling fear.

Throw down your weapons NOW, kneel at my feet and you will live to see the dawn!, the figure roared, the hellish scenes in his black armour standing out in the torch light.

The clatter of shields, spears and swords was a brief deafening.

And so it went - those who would not surrender were cut down with blade, with arrow and with unholy magics until those who had surrendered, and such priests that remained living knelt in the courtyard of the keep.

After an hour of this a trio of men tried to make a break for it.

What happened afterwards to them by way of example made the prisoners weep and feel ill.

At length one of their captors cocked his head.

I'd say our friends are arriving, he nudged one of the prisoners with his feet and indicated another with a jut of his chin. You and you - open the gates!

Rushing to comply they gaped in horror as they saw the army of torch carrying monsters marching towards the gateway to Talingard... an army with nothing to stop them!

Oh, well;

It went out without any chance to add anything from my part.

Some things must be said, before we continue:

Not all the soldiers were killed, taken into the courtyard. We can assume you guys killed, imprisoned about 30 of them. There were still pockets of resistances.

Other than that, I was meaning to get you directly into the gatehouse, not ending this part.
Then again, what’s done is done, let’s roll with it. :)

That being said, there’s still some things you could have done, and that will ‘in some parts’ spoil the perfect victory Eldred described.
However, you have already done enough to ensure victory.

If there is a chapel Sidous occupies it, reconsecrating it to his deity. He would loot anything worth taking and destroy anything of Mitra. He would also work to convert any men who show an inkling. The group may need an army after all.

Okay boys.

Let's talk.

About loot, there's really nothing much else to be found.

Almost everything was in the lord's room.

The magister priest had nothing besides a golden Mitra symbol, that was vandalized as the bugbears ransacked the place. Others was just some gold pieces from the soldiers.

Book one ended.

I'll keep this campaign active for some more time, if you want to talk with Tiadora or Sakkarot, or do anything else you may want to do.

I'll give it, a small pause. One week, I think, since I still need to read book two. Then I'll create a new campaign for us.

Also, I invited someone to play with us, but I'm not sure if he is up to play an evil campaign, depending on his answer, I'll ask in my other games if someone else wants to join us.

Well, there's really no issue with that. If you want, I say go on.

However, I don't know if I forgot or you didn't told me about this. It would have been easier to introduce, in the game one scroll, to fulfill the conditions.

Also, more than that, at the house rules, there are some that says things like these, should be incorporated into gameplay, so the char don't 'go to sleep' and learn a new class.

Anyway, would it bother you to go into the class at level 7? So we have some time to introduce it in game, giving more flavor and RP potential to your character. What do you think?

Re loot: can we just sell everything to the Bugbears? I'll RP it, I promise :> I imagine they've got cash now from the sacking of the town, and they are going to need good steel weapons. And best of all, they don't care if its marked by the talingarde military.

I'll break down the shares this weekend once Aku confirms its all good for sale, and those last pieces get IDed, so if there's anything else anyone would like to claim, now's the time to do it.

Hey maybe the Bugbears even have some items they can sell us! An army is kinda like their own little mobile town after all.

Sidious could use that headband, at least for now. It would mean another channel per day.

On the Diabolist class - There is a requirement to cast Lesser Planar Ally. So you need to find or buy a scroll of that spell. And since its a 4th level spell there is a spell failure chance. And if you do succeed you might still fail the charisma check to successfully coaxed the fiend into performing the task. So its safer and easier to wait til 7th level to take the class when you can simply pick up Lesser Planar Ally as one of your two free spells.

Thanks. The extra channel is quite nice but the stat bump helps all the charisma skills too. Someday Sidious will trade it for a wisdom headband but for now this is likely better for the group.

Now I wonder if we could trade the +1 halberd for a +1 spear... :)

Is there any pathfinder ruleset about making sacrifices to summon a devil? Or are you just leaning in that previous occasion, when you killed Tep and a devil was summoned?

Here is the link to the PFSRD. Some Devils like certain things, Agrippa will be doing research into what types of Devils want what types of sacrifices. He is hoping to garner some favor with a Devil in order to learn new and powerful arcane magic as well as perhaps some true names.

The PRD doesn't have a ton of information really, the Princes of Darkness book has more, I'll try and pick that one up soon.


I think the spell Lesser Planar Ally covers it pretty well. It lets you call and then bargain with a devil. How you do so is up you you. You can flatter it, bribe it, or force it.

The horde is not starving for weapons and armors, since you delivered a large supply.

But Sakkarot see logic in your words, so he is willing to pay, not the price it is worth, but 7k.

If you come up with a good RP for him, I'll raise for 8k.

If Sidious present the siege engine, and was creative about removing it from the keep's roof, I'll raise it for 9k.


Sorry for being slow. Busy at work today.

So the book lists a Trebuchet as coming in three categories: Light, Standard, and Heavy. But it does not give a weight for any of them. The light has 50 hp, the standard 100, and the heavy 200. This can give some indication of size as a wood had 10hit points per inch of thickness.

Trebuchet are never rolled about and need to be assembled on the battlefield. This means they are designed to come apart and be reassembled.

As part of leveling Sidious is willing to put a skill point in Profession Siege Engineering. This would give him a +7 in this skill and, in my opinion allow him to disassemble and reassemble the Trebuchet, likely by taking 10. Agrippa with his +10 knowledge engineering could supervise the exercise with Johan and Eldred providing extra muscle. Thouhts?

@Eldred: yeah, I had the same thought about just taking it all with us - or sinking it all to the bottom of the harbour in Sakkarat's sight just to be peevish and defiant. But with Sidious stepping in with the siege engine, we're only getting a little bit screwed so, yeah.

Can we tap the party slush a bit - say 500gp each more and drop the slush fund a bit? Its a bit on the high side for the moment.

Not quite, everything from the frosthamar boat ride we sold in town because it was unmarked. This covers everything from after the fight with Damien until now. Mostly talingarde military stuff that we can't sell to anyone other than the bugbears.
