I am fine, the goddess' blessings have not left me yet. who all is hurt? As for the rest I am really really loathe to leave someone in bondage in this forgotten castles dungeons...especially after the death of what held whatever evil at bay here is gone.

A strange pull torwards the dark metal of the morningstar caused him to heft it studying it intently.

I believe this weapon has been enchanted... its strikes will certainly be more swift and sure.

He began glancing to his companions and trying to discern whom would get the most use from it while slipping the magical wand that would help extend his goddess' favor and aid on the wounded. He expended some of its energies first on himself, then on Gergo.

"You have a point there... Just be careful, I have little magic left now, and I think Val is in the same condition."

Incidentally, I neglected to mention what's in the armoury.

The armoury contains:

--1 suit of half-plate armour
--1 mwk heavy steel shield
--4 heavy crossbows
--40 crossbow bolts
--A case containing 10 flasks of Alchemist's Fire

Male Aasimar Paladin (Hospitaler)4 Cleric 3 | HP: 52/52 | AC 15 T2 FF15 | F+8 R+5 W+10 | Init +2 | Perception +10 | LOH 6 of 6/day

After finding the gear left behind in the armory he dusted off the bottles and let out a soft whistle.

Its not your arcane magics, but this appears to be alchemists fire... perhaps you and miss Valeria would like to hold onto them? It will keep you out of the melee.

He added eyeing the armor and shield and glancing to the other two frontline warriors.

I have trained in heavy armor such as this, but have never been entirely comfortable in it... nor could I afford it, You seem to be in the thick of things far more often than I Gergo, First rights to it I would imagine should go to you... Do you have training in such armors my quiet friend? He asked Friday.

"Yeah, I'm nearly tapped out - think I've got one more fire blast in me but that thing's tricky to use. Oh, um, sorry about scorching a few of you guys with it earlier when we were fighting Big Nose; it's still a few... kinks."

As she spoke, Valeria retrieved the crossbow bolts. If she kept forgetting to prep combat cantrips like she had today, she'd be needing them.

Friday quickly shakes his head no at Kavell's question. Just looking at the heavy and cumbersome armor made him claustrophobic.

"You are more than welcome to it, never donned an armor that looks this heavy before, it will probably slow me down" Two of his partially clenched fingers rapped on the armor, causing a small pang to emit from the newly found piece of loot "Besides this may turn away blades that do catch up to you, and from what I can see you are not too afraid to be in the thick of things yourself"

I guess onward?

The party leaves the rotting corpses of the troglodytes behind and opens the double doors back in the large hall...

Stone pillars support the ceiling over this large kitchen—although the fire pits, tables, and pantries here look like they haven’t been used in decades. Thick layers of dust cover everything in the room.

Several doors lead off from this large kitchen: one on the far west wall, one to the north, one to the east, and three more (one single door and one set of double doors) to the south. The door on the east wall looks particularly sturdy.

Friday opens the door.

The foul-smelling chamber beyond the door drips with moisture—it runs down the walls in rivulets amid thick tangles of nasty-looking fungus. Three washing bins in the walls are completely clogged with heaps of even more repulsive moulds and mushrooms, some of which have grown to prodigious size, like the large mound of green mould sprouting dozens of purple-capped mushrooms in the centre of the room.

DC 14 Knowledge (Nature):
The mould & purple-capped mushrooms in the centre of the room is a phycomid: a sentient group of plants. They're capable of moving about on their own, and the acid pellets they shoot at people are vicious. The spores contained in the pellets can burn through a man like poison.

"Better stay out of there. Even if it's ordinary fungus, it's dangerous to breath the spores. But that purple-capped one in the middle was a phycomid, a sentient fungus that shoots acid. Better to just leave it be, it seems content enough in there."

Friday nods in complete agreement with Haru.

Gergo huffs in disappointment. "Still no ogrekin, huh? Come on--they can't be far now." He strides up to the single door on the south wall and yanks it open.

It leads to a staircase leading back up to the first floor. "Okay, that way's not lookin' like that's where we're supposed to go--how about these?"

He starts walking over to the double doors.

"Alright... how about this one?" Gergo yanks the two double doors on the south wall open.

A pool of dark water lies in the centre of the domed room beyond, surrounded by four stone pillars. Another set of double doors is on the room's eastern wall.

A light can be seen coming from under the eastern doors--and a flickering of shadows.

Haru casts Detect Magic to determine if the pool is magical.

Haru's Detect Magic:
The pool looks rather brackish, but it's free of magic.

Male Aasimar Paladin (Hospitaler)4 Cleric 3 | HP: 52/52 | AC 15 T2 FF15 | F+8 R+5 W+10 | Init +2 | Perception +10 | LOH 6 of 6/day

Light usually denoted life, which was precisely what they were looking for. He nodded torwards it.

Gergo my friend a light over yonder... Ogres need to see too.

He said hefting his glaive.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Gergo grins his usual, cocky grin and throws the doors open.

Not quite a torture chamber, this dungeon features three cells made of iron bars—one to the north and two to the south. A filthy, nestlike bed lies in the middle of the room, heaped around a central stone pillar next to what can only be a half-eaten giant centipede the size of a horse. A filth-encrusted chest sits in a cell to the southeast.

The cell to the north is occupied by a well-built, brawny human woman, her strawberry blonde hair disheveled and smudged with dirt. Her green warpaint is starting to peel off of her brow, and her brown eyes glare daggers at her captors: A large ogre dressed in poorly-stitched animal hides, and a gangly female ogrekin with doglegs, dressed in leathers and toting a flail dripping with fresh blood.

Three hobgoblins dressed in rags are crowded into a cell to the south. All their eyes turn to the doors as they fly open, and the ogres follow suit.

The ogrekin blinks her milky white eyes and starts hefting her flail up to her shoulder before the large ogre stops her. "Hey... uh, youse be new prisoners or sumting? Got no room for ya here."

Initiative (Haru): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

He answered moving forward and bringing his glaive down torwards the large ogre his glaive slicing downwards.

Purge them miss Valeria, purge them with your fires!

He called out his inherant caution at attacking so large a foe obvious in the tentively and easily swatted aside nature of his attack

Gergo, Valeria, Friday & Haru are up!

Female Kitsune Bard 4 | HP 27/27 | AC 16 T 13 FF 13 | Ft +3 Rf +7 Wi +3 | Init +3 | Perc +6 | Perform 14/14 | Spells 4/4 2/2 | DL 3/3 | Party Loot

Using my last spell of the day...

Haru casts a spell to put a layer of slippery grease on the floor under the ogres' feet.

Reflex Save (Ogrekin): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Reflex Save (Ogre): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

The ogrekin's doglegs manage to find purchase on the grease-slicked floor, but the ogre's enormous, clumsy feet go flying out from underneath him. He falls to the floor with a *CRASH* and a grunt of surprise.

Gergo, Friday & Valeria are up!

Attack (charge): 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 3 = 13

Who are you attacking, Friday?

Friday sets his spear and charges at the ogrekin still on her feet. His spear rams into her spindly gut and causes her to scream in pain!

Gergo & Valeria are up!

Female Rakshasa-Spawn Tiefling Arcanist 6 | HP 17/26 | AC 14 T 13 FF 12 | Ft +3 Rf +5 Wi +5 | Init +6 | Perc +5 (+7 if Xel within arm's reach)

Moving up, Valeria drew on the last of her magical reserves. As she'd done before, she resisted the habit of channelling the energy through specific alterations and focused solely on the very concept of fire, forcing that concept into material existence with nothing but her will.

A gout of raw heat flew from her extended hand, igniting the air it passed through before burning into their enemies.

Flame Arc damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 1 = 6
I assume that brown box on the map is the space the ogrekin lady is taking up? If not, and she can't hit both with the flames, she'll aim for whichever one is more badly injured.

The brown square is the Grease patch Haru put down earlier.

Reflex Save (Ogrekin): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

The ogrekin manages to duck under the worst of the fire, and the cell's occupant behind her jumps back and away from the flames to avoid getting singed.

Gergo grins wildly and eyes the prone ogre. "DIBS!" He calls out before running over to the prone beast and swinging his sword at him...

Attack (Vs. Prone): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

...only for it to bounce off the ogre's armour.

The ogrekin eyes Friday with a mix of rage and glee before she steps out of the grease to smash his skull open with her flail...

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

...then striking at him with a gauntleted fist!

Punch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Ouch.

Friday gets pummelled almost into submission with the fury of the ogrekin's blows.

The ogre flails wildly about on the floor with his greatclub...

Attack (Prone): 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 4 = 19
Damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (5, 6) + 10 = 21

...and smashes it into Gergo.

Round 2: The party is up!

lay on hands: 1d6 ⇒ 6

He reached out and touched Gergo after wincing at the great blow given to the mighty and wild warrior. He shigted back slightly to get a better angle to attack the ogres.

I dont suppose Ishgha is about anywhere? I think we found his people.

Reeling from the onslaught Friday steps back and strikes back.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 3 = 11

Ishgha should still be around. Assuming he hasn't run into any trouble, that is...

Friday's stab sinks into the ogrekin's gut and makes her scream louder.

Gergo glares at the prone ogre that just swatted him and snorts once. He drops his shield, takes his sword in both hands, and swings his sword down on the prone beast again. This time, he lets his rage guide him...

Power Attack (Rage): 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 1 + 2 = 28
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 1 + 2 = 28 O_O
Crit Damage (2-Handed, Raging Power Attack): 2d8 + 8 + 6 ⇒ (3, 8) + 8 + 6 = 25

...and is rewarded. His sword comes down hard on the beast's neck, not cutting deep enough to kill, but enough to bathe his blade in a deep red ichor. The ogre screams in pain!
