The enraged orc finally falls at Vhillish's feet.

That last bolt did the trick. These guys go down to -12.


Actually not quite right on all counts Damien. Kev can'y get anywhere because she is trying to take her second turn this round! I'll fix the tracker and figure this out. It was out of date because I was posting from mobile last night.

Somewhere nearby a sickly green orc with scarlet robes over his suit of chain draws back the curtain of a window. Expressionless, he returns to an altar, lighting a black tallow candle.


Round 4 Ogre and Cocks in the Courtyard

The cockatrices peck at the ogre with their gnarly beaks. The great behemoth becomes more sluggish, it's thick hide growing more gravelly and cracked... It steps forward, and steps again, and the outer layer of gravelly crust appearing on it's flesh crumbles and cracks away, turning to dust. Beneath it, the gray-green hue of it's original hide reappears. It lumbers forth unfettered by the petrifying bite of the eldritch fowl.

The ogre swats at a cockatrice with it's greataxe. Then, it swats at another.

Round 4 - Orcs in the Donjon

The remaining orcs do not display any of the superstitious fear of magic common to their kin in the stoneheart valley. They sweep over their unconscious and fallen brethren, thrusting with longspears at Jerrid and Vhillish behind him.

Frustrated, he spares a quick look for the cowering spider before turning back to Janna, "Right, outside so the bloody thing doesn't get any ideas!", hammer in hand, Damien leaves the sorceress and heads into the hall, slipping past the struggling Leo.


Oh, I guess with the spider hanging out in the corner, everyone is up.

The flesh and bones of the ogre stiffen. It's movement becomes slower, but it heaves it's greataxe at the bird.

Jerrid steps back a little next to Vhillish and Sam then uses his sickle to fend off any spear attacks.

Five foot step then full defensive stance, i.e. +4 to AC.


Orcses

Two orcs spill out recklessly into the room, leaving themselves wide-open to attack while they thrust their spears with murderous intent. The last remains in the hall, leaving Vhillish to defend himself on two fronts.

Blue vs Vhillish: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11
Green vs Leo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Yellow vs Vhillish: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27

That's 22 damage to Vhillish unless the AoO's drop an orc. Together with the seven he took from an AoO in Round 4, I think that would put him dangerously low. Like -8. On your toes, lads!

The movement of the green and blue orcs provokes from a whole bunch of you this turn though. Damien, Kev, Vhillish, Samduc, Jerrid.

Round 5 AoO's

Damien arrives on the scene at the opportune moment as the orcs launch their assault. His long hammer sweeps out over the Deputy's head, catching the first ebony skinned orc so solidly in the sternum there is little momentum left for the one close behind.

AoO vs Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 I think that should spare the Deputy a critical wound quite nicely!

AoO vs Green: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

I think blue is down but what about green? Is he still hanging on thanks to ferocity?


I haven't recorded Kev's AoO damage yet, because I can't figure out where she gets multiple AoO. So right now they are both up from ferocity. But if Kev's 2nd AoO is legit, the green one is dead. They go down to -12 (and they have DR).

Ah, sorry I misread the blue one as wounded but I see my mistake. Though I'm actually wondering, what happens if an orc is dropped below zero and staggered in the middle of his turn? Would he lose the second action (attack Vhillish in this case), or keep it as he started the round unhindered?

Oops, sorry. For some reason I thought one had one AoO per combattant that passed by....Nix the second AoO :( So just the 16 damage from her normal attack.

I guess the blue one gets staggered as he passes you all and takes AoO, so he will lose his attack. The yellow one still gets his crit vs Vhillish though for sure.

I recorded Sam's 2 damage to the blue one as well.

FYI the reason I said the AoO's could save Vhillish, is because if the blue one went down, the yellow one has no flanking buddy, and his crit would fail to confirm.

With a trapped and rather overwhelmed Leo behind him, Damien feints one-handed with his hammer, using the distraction to draw his shortsword with with his right and gut the snarling creature.

Sam waits for the orc to pass between him and the paladin, but his aim is off.

Sam can you do your rolls line by line like everyone else so they're easier to read? That long string of characters makes my head swim, as we've talked about before several times. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, I just find it really challenging.

Jerrid has had blur running for 8/30 rounds.

The little gnome steps up in the face of the back orc and attempts to slice his ankle. He shouts for Leo to save Vhillish in the process.

"He needs healing! that spear would have skewered a boar!"

Round 6 - Orcs
The orc falls to the ground, tendon sliced by Jerrid, and lies bleeding out. The sole remaining conscious orc steps back into the hall to better hold it's position.

Round 6 Ogre

The hulking brute strides across the courtyard and heaves it's axe at the watchtower door. As it does, the bandits shower it with debris from the battlements.

Damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 1, 5) + 11 = 21

The burnt but recently repaired door shudders but remains on it's hinges for now. The ogre shrugs off the falling debris.

A billowing cloud of dark hazy incense broils out from the defiled chapel of Thyr... and the slain cockatrices rise and shamble forth under the control of some unholy magic.
