Samduc Dawnbringer |
Sam reloads behind cover and holds another ambush shot. He maintains an angle where he is not visible unless the orcs advance.
std ready vs approach of first enemy/wpn dmg/precision : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 141d6 ⇒ 22d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
Jerrid Kinslarn |
Round 4
Jerrid pulls out the scroll of rainbow fans and steps five foot out into the middle of the corridor, his blurry gnomish form low to the ground and then pronounces from the beginning, his concentration focused on the spell.
Aoo from second orc, Will DC12.
Then a vivid cone of colours sprays out across the first three orcs.
Kevezyat Faen |
here it is, fixed

DM Grimmy |
Round 4
Aoo from second orc, Will DC12.
No AoO provoked. That orc was already dropped by Vhillish. I couldn't delete it's token because I was on mobile.
Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Rounds Unconscious: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 They will wake up round 8 I guess
The next two orcs in line behind the one at Vhillish's feet succumb to Jerrid's magic and collapse in a catatonic state.
Sam's shot is a miss.
DM Grimmy |
Round 4 Ogre and Cocks in the Courtyard
Ogre Init: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Cock Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Cocks win on Dex
Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Ogre Fort vs Petrification: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Ogre Fort vs Petrification: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
The cockatrices peck at the ogre with their gnarly beaks. The great behemoth becomes more sluggish, it's thick hide growing more gravelly and cracked... It steps forward, and steps again, and the outer layer of gravelly crust appearing on it's flesh crumbles and cracks away, turning to dust. Beneath it, the gray-green hue of it's original hide reappears. It lumbers forth unfettered by the petrifying bite of the eldritch fowl.
The ogre swats at a cockatrice with it's greataxe. Then, it swats at another.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Greataxe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 miss
Damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) + 11 = 15
One dead cock.
Round 4 - Orcs in the Donjon
The remaining orcs do not display any of the superstitious fear of magic common to their kin in the stoneheart valley. They sweep over their unconscious and fallen brethren, thrusting with longspears at Jerrid and Vhillish behind him.
Longspear vs Jerrid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 hit
Longspear vs Vhillish: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 hit
Damage vs Jerrid: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage vs Vhillish: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damien "Wet" Winters |
Round 5
Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 This is getting ridiculous :P
As the spider retreats, Damien hurriedly pulls at the webbing entangling Janna but with only one hand he doesn't get far. Frustrated, he spares a quick look for the cowering spider before turning back to Janna, "Right, outside so the bloody thing doesn't get any ideas!", hammer in hand, Damien leaves the sorceress and heads into the hall, slipping past the struggling Leo.
Janna - The Storm Maiden |
round 5
Janna glances toward the spider, concentration: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
as she tries to summon enough energy to blast the thing the electrical arc simply fizzles.
attempted Magic Missile missed concentration check
Vhillish Quarrelwick |
Round 5
The black orc's spearpoint bites hard into Vhillish's ribs, drawing blood and tearing uniform. The wee veteran's expression turns incandescent at the affront:
"Blakk Bounders! Make me unfit for parade will you!!!"
The serjeant-depute returns the favour with a shot over the head of the Deep Gnome before him;
Ranged: MW Arbalest: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Small Heavy Crossbow Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Vhillish's actions provokes AoO
DM Grimmy |
Round 5 Ogres and Cocks
The cockatrice nips at the brutal ogres heels.
Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Ogre Fort: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 fail
Dex Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The flesh and bones of the ogre stiffen. It's movement becomes slower, but it heaves it's greataxe at the bird.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Greataxe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) + 11 = 19
Damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) + 11 = 22
The cockatrice pops like a mosquito leaving a stain on the ground of the courtyard.
Bandits
The bandits pepper the ogre with crossbow fire from the watchtower roof.
Xbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Xbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Xbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 threat
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Xbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 threat
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
The ogre roars as two bandit crossbow bolts stick in it's massive shoulder.
Jerrid Kinslarn |
Round 5
Jerrid steps back a little next to Vhillish and Sam then uses his sickle to fend off any spear attacks.
Five foot step then full defensive stance, i.e. +4 to AC.
DM Grimmy |
Orcses
Two orcs spill out recklessly into the room, leaving themselves wide-open to attack while they thrust their spears with murderous intent. The last remains in the hall, leaving Vhillish to defend himself on two fronts.
Blue vs Vhillish: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11
Green vs Leo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Yellow vs Vhillish: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27
Confirm: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
That's 22 damage to Vhillish unless the AoO's drop an orc. Together with the seven he took from an AoO in Round 4, I think that would put him dangerously low. Like -8. On your toes, lads!
The movement of the green and blue orcs provokes from a whole bunch of you this turn though. Damien, Kev, Vhillish, Samduc, Jerrid.
Kevezyat Faen |
Round 6
AoO #1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
AoO #2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11
Sword swirling through the air, Kevezyat catches one of the reckless orcs as it passed her, but no before it tries to skewer Vhillish. She presses her advantage, using the momentum of her initial swing to target it once more...
Attack, Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 1 = 22
damage: 2d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 4 + 3 = 16
So 27 damage to the green orc...
Damien "Wet" Winters |
Round 5 AoO's
Damien arrives on the scene at the opportune moment as the orcs launch their assault. His long hammer sweeps out over the Deputy's head, catching the first ebony skinned orc so solidly in the sternum there is little momentum left for the one close behind.
AoO vs Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 I think that should spare the Deputy a critical wound quite nicely!
AoO vs Green: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
I think blue is down but what about green? Is he still hanging on thanks to ferocity?
Samduc Dawnbringer |
Sam snakes a dagger at an orc as they rush between the paladin and him.
AoO attack/wpn damage/sneak attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 181d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 32d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
Leoven. |
Round 6
Leoven is surprised that someone attacked him, for some reason the dangers of combat still seems unrealistic to him...His first reaction is defense, so he release an aura of defense (+2 to AC for everyone)
Damien "Wet" Winters |
Ah, sorry I misread the blue one as wounded but I see my mistake. Though I'm actually wondering, what happens if an orc is dropped below zero and staggered in the middle of his turn? Would he lose the second action (attack Vhillish in this case), or keep it as he started the round unhindered?
Kevezyat Faen |
Kev, what is the source of your additional AoO per turn? Combat Reflexes?
Oops, sorry. For some reason I thought one had one AoO per combattant that passed by....Nix the second AoO :( So just the 16 damage from her normal attack.
Janna - The Storm Maiden |
round 6
when did Leo get free of the webs? and everyone left Janna all stuck in the webs by herself.
concentration: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Janna manages to free her one hand enough as she starts to panic being alone and trapped with a spider she manages to fling a couple of arcs at the last spider
magic missile damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8
Leoven. |
when did Leo get free of the webs? and everyone left Janna all stuck in the webs by herself.
Leoven is still entangled, but the ability is SU, so no concentration.
DM Grimmy |
Ah, sorry I misread the blue one as wounded but I see my mistake. Though I'm actually wondering, what happens if an orc is dropped below zero and staggered in the middle of his turn? Would he lose the second action (attack Vhillish in this case), or keep it as he started the round unhindered?
I guess the blue one gets staggered as he passes you all and takes AoO, so he will lose his attack. The yellow one still gets his crit vs Vhillish though for sure.
I recorded Sam's 2 damage to the blue one as well.
FYI the reason I said the AoO's could save Vhillish, is because if the blue one went down, the yellow one has no flanking buddy, and his crit would fail to confirm.
Damien "Wet" Winters |
I did suggest you head into the hall Janna :P Just because you're entangled doesn't mean you're completely trapped. Though you seem to have things under control anyway :)
Round 6
With a trapped and rather overwhelmed Leo behind him, Damien feints one-handed with his hammer, using the distraction to draw his shortsword with with his right and gut the snarling creature.
Move Action : Draw Shortsword
Swift Action : Arcane Strike
Standard Action : Attack green orc
Shortsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10 That should be enough, no?
Crit. Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Crit. Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
Edit : That's true Leo, Fixed!
Vhillish Quarrelwick |
Round 6
Vhillish takes the full brunt of the orc brute's assault and the wee veteran is lifted clean off his feet - mumbling his pain...
"Oh buggarrrrgh!"
...afore being unceremoniously dumped off the spear point.
Stabilise DC10: 1d20 + 2 - 8 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 8 = -3
The serjeant depute's body lies crumpled aside his precious arbalest, blood pooling from the nasty wound...
Dying @ -9HP
Samduc Dawnbringer |
Sam waits for the orc to pass between him and the paladin, but his aim is off.
readied attack with flank: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 101d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 42d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Jerrid Kinslarn |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Round 6
Jerrid has had blur running for 8/30 rounds.
The little gnome steps up in the face of the back orc and attempts to slice his ankle. He shouts for Leo to save Vhillish in the process.
"He needs healing! that spear would have skewered a boar!"
Sickle: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
DM Grimmy |
Round 6 Ogre
The hulking brute strides across the courtyard and heaves it's axe at the watchtower door. As it does, the bandits shower it with debris from the battlements.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 1, 5) + 11 = 21
The burnt but recently repaired door shudders but remains on it's hinges for now. The ogre shrugs off the falling debris.
Brick drop: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Brick drop: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Brick drop: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d12 ⇒ 3
A billowing cloud of dark hazy incense broils out from the defiled chapel of Thyr... and the slain cockatrices rise and shamble forth under the control of some unholy magic.
Sorry had this up as part of my last post but the forum ate it while I was editing.
