With some careful planning and shuffling of feet;
Cogstadt carefully steps away from the creepy crawler while Heinrich steps between the crawler and Cogstadt to shield him with his body while trying to hit the creature and thanks to it getting distracted from the other side manages to do so.

Glorin moves over to offer Cogstadt a potion but Kalaron heals Cogstadt before he is able to accept the offered potion.

Buri then is able to hit the creature with his enchanted club.

In return the crawler makes a lot of clicking sounds..they sound angry as he starts slashing all around him again 1C2H3B: 3d3 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) = 5

Hidden in the center of the statue's chest, a good 15 feet above the ground, is a secret compartment.
The compartment's door was melted by the same fire that slagged the statue's head, but it can still be broken open with brute force (hardness 8, 20 hp, break DC 22).

Going to assume that you will break your way in there eventually.

Inside is a short sword made out of cold iron, which when checked for magic turns out to radiate magic. There is also a silk pouch containing three fiery red rubies worth

Appraise DC 15:
90-110 gp each
. The red stones in the statue's eyes are also rubies.

What do you want to do now? I think you cleared out everything you could find in here other then what's behind the magically closed door, so feel free to go back to any room to look around if you want (other then the one that give you damage just for being inside it you can walk around there safely).

"Le's go back an' try th' sealed door. Per'aps we've found somethin' tha 'elps us through," Clandelve suggests.

Scarab Sages

As you return to the room with the door you see that nothing has changed since the last time you were here.

Eight statues of demonic creatures anchored to great square columns guard an octagonal open space in the center of this large hall. Various bits of scaffolding and debris are piled up next to the columns, which support a large gallery fifteen feet above the room's floor. Open stone archways lead to the southeast and the north from the lower floor, and at the south corner of this hall stands a large stone door. Seven thumb-sized sockets are embedded in the door, arranged in a ring around a starburst design.

Clandelve examines the sockets more carefully to see what might be inserted into them.

"Lemme see th' gems we jus' found," the dwarf suggests. He tries inserting them to see if they fit.

Will also take 20 examining the door for any other clue. 27 Perception

Scarab Sages

You just found 3 rubies in the secret statue compartment, 2 rubies in the statues eyes ..are those the ones you are trying to insert? Perception won't tell you anything more, other then that a thumb sized sockets is about an inch in diameter

Clandelve inserts the five gems from the statue, the one from the foggy room, and the one they found when the shadow died.

7 gems? 7 sockets?

Scarab Sages

Clandelve inserts the first gem at random into one of the sockets and it sort of fits then continues in clockwise order fitting the next 4 rubies and then the purple one you got from the foggy room and lastly the dark indigo colored one that you got when the shadow died.

When Clandelve puts in the last one a electric shock runs up his arm
To hit touch AC Clandelve: 1d20 + 5 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 8 = 15 sparking over his metal armor and shocking him Electricity damage Clandelve: 1d6 ⇒ 4

There's a circle with 7 sockets, you need to insert things into them in the right order ..or bad stuff might happen. So let me know what you want to put in what socket. But you are thinking along the correct line

Male Dwarf Paladin(Stonelord) 5 (HP 11/49) (AC 23/11/23) (CMD 20) (Fort +8, Ref +3, Will +5) (Init +1) (Perception +8)

Actually, I think it might be based on the rainbow... After all, when was the last time you were told that you found an *indigo* gem!?

So far, we have found:
Fiery red rubies
Orange gems
(Yellow missing)
Green gems
Bright blue tiles (magical)
Indigo gem
Purple gem

So, I think we need to go back through the complex and look for yellow gems/rocks/magical things...?

Since we also know that 'red goes at the top', I think that they will probably go in the order of the rainbow, and probably clockwise (or anticlockwise).

"Son of a motherless goat!" Clandelve yelps as the spark runs up his arm. He shakes out his throbbing hand.

"But I think we're on ta somethin'!" he says. "Any other order we could try?"

Are the sockets any different from each other, or all the same?

Scarab Sages

All sockets are the same, Heinrich got the basic idea..and to speed things up and not having you tell me which room you try next let's just assume you check them all and save the foggy room for last.. here's the description of the room where you fought the stirges again;

This large chamber appears to be a natural cavern with small yellow crystals glittering in the walls. A level flagstone path clings to the
western wall, but most of the room is an open chasm. Uneven columns of rock jut from the chamber's depths, matching the height of the flagstone floor to the north and south. Water streams down from the roof of the cave and pools thirty feet below around the bases of the rock columns. A rickety ladder lies on the ledge of the cliff at the room's northern exit, along with torches and a barrel full of pitch.

Alright, then - let's grab some of those crystals, and then try 'ROYGBIV', starting with Red in the top-most position, and going clockwise (and if that doesn't work, going anti-clockwise).

Great Going guys! Looks like you solved it!

Scarab Sages

As Heinrich puts in those gems in clockwise order with the red ruby at the top a shudder goes through the door and a few sparks appear on it's edge then with a loud *whoose* sound the door swings open..revealing a long hallway that slopes down to a room housing a pool of glowing blue water. Shining gold leaf in exotic designs decorates the walls, ceiling, and pillars.

As you take a look around the room you find out the the pool of glowing water is magical with some effort you are able to figure out what it does; The pool is a magical device that functions as a crystal ball. However, it cannot be removed from this spot without destroying its magic-anyone who wants to use it must come to the Accursed Halls and pass the Door of Seven Stars.

Going to assume that at least one of you takes a look into the pool at some point or another and receives a vision of his future and that the rest will take a similar look because they are curious.

A stone archway to the south leads further downstairs.

Gratz, you survived the first level of Thornkeep and found your way to the next level. I'll try to get chronicles out as soon as I have people's information so we can continue when everyone is ready
