Sounds good to me. Tally ho!!
Eladrian follows Jal through the secret door, bow ready and eyes peeled.

GM Skipper |
The other door is mounted in front a masonry wall, and was purely there to lure tomb robbers into the trap right in front of it. Tunnel it is then!
Jal and Eladrian see nothing amiss about the dank tunnel, and so the party advances through it. The dark and claustrophobic passage through the foundations of the tomb opens into the overcast swamp. The back of the tomb is much like the front, with gnarled swamp trees fighting for space on the dryer bits of ground and reeds, grass, and open stagnant water claiming the rest. To the east the ground raises slightly. Between two bone and leather fetishes lies a path that has seen recent use, the grass and marsh weeds broken down into a matted mush.
Up on dry ground, past the fetishes, stand a Garundi man with piercing blue eyes. His current task of ordering a quartet of lizardfolk to haul away treasure is interrupted by your exit from the back of the tomb. He gives you a quick look before breaking the silence.
“Welcome…Pathfinders, I can tell. We’re just about done here, so don’t let us get in your way.”
Map updated.
Jal Vaduva |
Jal takes just a moment to study the speaker and the nearest lizard-man (making both the man and Red Studied Targets).
”No,” Jal says menacingly as he moves forward, drawing out his Tien-blade, ”Stay and chat. I insist.”
Then moving forward, drawing katana on the way. I’m guessing that water hinders movement? If not, then let me know and I”ll move Jal father forward.
Myrdon Gharthrin |
Myrdon whispers quietly to his party, making sure it is not audible to Garundi man, [b]"How did this man get into the temple? Aram Zey said the tapestry was the only way in and out, and he clearly did not come through that. I suspect Aspis connection."[/ooc]
In case this escalates into a battle, Myrdon lays his hand on Aegis and casts a spell (shield) on him.
Jhon Doe |
So we're doing it by the hard way, thinks Jhon as he moves foward, usin his panache to activate his scarf but clearly not drawing his sword.
Or let all the loot in the ground and surrender
Just because he can draw it when an init check is made, and it's more cinematic to draw and attack someone before he can reach you
Shamak |
Shamak moves at Jal's side and draws his huge falchion.
"MAN, YOU BETTER LET THIS GO! WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY? ASPIS? ANYWAY LET GO OF YOUR LOOT, MATE! IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO, WE'LL RIP YOUR FLESH TO PIECES AND FEED THEM TO THE RATS!" shouts Shamak with a huge and toothy grin.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (11) + 23 = 34

Alright, openly hostile route it is then.
The man's face scrunches up in an annoyed grimace, and he signals for the lizardfolk to attack.

menacing swordplay (swift action to intimidate): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Jal Vaduva |
Jal gives a cold grin—really kind of a toothy grimace—and darts forward. "Eladrian!" he shouts as he tries to draw lizard blood, "Can you pressure the Garundi?"
Spring Attack on Red, ending top/left of him. (Mods: Studied Target, Power Attack, Furious Focus, Sneak Attack)

Well hell! Thats a lot to get through. Gm, May I make a retroactive Sens motive to figure out whats going on here? If so, Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
What type of Lizard folk are these? Eladrian has a boon from Emerald Spire granting some bonuses vs Troglodytes, and would recognize them from working with them before.
Eladrian |
LMAO! Well, I tried to talk our way out of that one.. and did pretty good at it for a while. Unfortunately, luck couldn't hold out forever, and at the end things all went to heck in a lot of ways!!
With a curse, Eladrian follows his friends into the mix. He charges forward, studying the human leading the group, and then lets go an arrow at him.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 33

@Eladrian: Yeah, it's a tricky one. When I GM'ed it, they ended up fighting both tribes at once.
Eladrian's arrow finds its mark.
The baddies shift their positions around (a bunch of 5-foot-steps) and retaliate.

Jal’s attacks come in a blur, slicing through his immediate threat as he steps forward to switch tactics. The flat of his blade slaps against the Gerund’s body, trying to bring him to nonletal unconsciousness.

My goal is to get to the Garundi and deal as much nonlethal damage to him as possible this round. Jal makes short order of the lizardfolk and steps up to the Garundi hitting him twice with the flat of his blade. No confirmed crits, though. The force with which he is hit does knock him out, and he crumbles to the ground with a moan.
I'm assuming that Eladrian wont be riddling the unconscious man with arrows, so I'll redirect them to the blind lizardfolk (yay for sneak attack), and in that case all three attacks hit.

DESCRIPTION
This copper and onyx amulet is shaped like the
howling head of a jackal and grants its wearer a special
connection to hyenas, jackals, and other doglike
animals. Three times per day, the carcanet’s wearer can
take the shape of a Small or Medium canine (dog, fox,
jackal, wolf, etc.) or hyena as per the beast shape I spell.
Additionally, the wearer benefits from the constant effect
of speak with animals to communicate with dogs, hyenas,
and doglike animals.
CONSTRUCTION
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, beast shape I, speak
with animals; Cost 7,500 gp
How will you be healing your two prisoners; wand charges, potions or spells?
In addition to the equipment, a thorough search of the human reveals an unsigned letter instructing him to loot the Dog Pharaoh’s Tomb before the “reptiles revolt against our influence” and a map to the tomb from what appears to be a cave network several miles to the north labeled “Muckmouth.”
Jal Vaduva |
Jal helps sort through the liberated stuff, handing the most-likely-magical pieces to the group’s magic-users as he sniffs at the potions.

"Lesser healing potions," he notes, nodding to the remaining living lizard folk. "I say we use it on him, but not before separating him from our Garundi friend."
He reads the note, then considers the two survivors of the fight. "Let's separate them. If this man's organization was losing favor with the lizard-folk, we can play nice with the lizard, but we don't want him influencing our ability to do so. I mean, after all, the Garundi ordered these lizard folk to their assured deaths against us, and we kept him alive when we definitely didn't have to. Or something like that."
He looks back over at the unconscious Garundi man, "Him, though?" He grins over at Shamak, "I say we give Shamak a crack at him. See if we can't scare him into giving us something to work with."

Wow, this has to be the worst sequence of dice rolls ever. Oh well, at least I got rid of my bad dice rolls. Right? Right? :)
Still need to identify: the cloaks (x2), studded leather, belt, amulet, ring, and ankh.
"This here is a lens of detection. Enhances your perception of fine details, Myrdon shares.
Myrdon, similarly exhausted from examining the items, turns to read the letter. "Oh no. It seems that the lizardfolk were reluctant allies. We could have brought them to our side."
