okay, so I'm currently running an Shadowrun 5th edition campaign set in Des Moines, so I am somewhat familiar with the rules (except for the matrix stuff, which I don't wanna learn tbh). With that being said, I would be willing to run any of the following archetypes: PhysAd, Face, Mystic Adept/Mage, or Bioware-based Street Sam. Fixer, did you have an idea for what city, if any, you want to be based out of?

I'm thinking of a 'Gunfighter' type, that is highly skilled with Armorer (Firearms). Street Handle would be Gunsmith, and he'd be an ex-Lone Star Detective forced to take a break after a major incident forced him to have at least a Cyberleg, and possible an arm and eye on the same side...
Handguns would be his specialty at using, but about any firearm, he could use as well as fix.
Thoughts?

I will go with my idea of the doc wagon paramedic. I had him mostly built from a few weeks back when I was trying out the character creation with the new edition.
FYI I've tried running a shadowrun pbp with "some" success before. There are some logistical considerations. The three worlds (astral, matrix, physical) can be a little tough to juggle (even in a face to face game), so if I were running it I'd try to downplay at least one of the three worlds. Personally, I'd prefer to focus more on the physical world and downplay magic.
The game I ran on play by post focused mainly on investigation and rp with some physical combat and the odd bit of hacking. I found that worked fairly well because it didn't require a huge amount of dice rolling and players could contribute pretty easily without getting bogged down by mechanics. Personally, although I like the Shadowrun system, it's hardly a rules lite type of system, and I don't think it's especially well suited to php. That being said, I still think it's doable if we focus more on the rp and less on the crunchy stuff.

Exceptional Attribute(Magic) is fine. Though remember that it costs Special Attribute Points to raise magic.
My group has found an interesting way of doing it, Though that is on another site that is slightly better suited for Shadowrun, but it should work on here okay.
I have found that the Astral World even IRL is the easiest to downplay as well. Especially when you only use it for scouting or as Adepts.
Mostly I run mine as RP with the occasional rolling for Stealth and such. Most of the Crunchy Stuff at least for these initial 3 Runs will be Hacking, Stealth, and maybe a little combat.
Also I am guessing your character will be a member of DocWagon/CrashCart/etc's HTR Squads? Or maybe even a former Member.

My character is mostly going to be using spells to manipulate the world, with astral stuff for scouting, esp type stuff.
Spirits will be less of a focus for him.
Should have a rough work up avail tomorrow, jotting stuff down and working off tablet right now.

The toxic path is one of hatred and madness. Those who follow can be gleefully insane, nihilistic, Eco-terrorists, or even full on Darwinists. I would be running a reaper, someone who believes that humanity as a whole is a pestilence on mother earth and they are by and large in need of wiping out. Would be running a reskinned bear as a hatred spirit.

Most likely. Have the crunch done. Still have to get all the dice pools in place and the limits. Fluff is going to be pretty easy, he is young poor and angry. Fresh from his first run he purchased himself a spiffy armored coat. His handle comes from an officer asking him what his proffesion was when he gave business as reason for traveling past the checkpoint, he flipantly said he caught bullets and it stuck as his call sign. He is a little slow but has an odd ability to pick up a smattering of languages with ease. He has caught the attention of a toxic spirit that has begun to teach him its own take on life. I also have to put in contact but that should be pretty easy.

This is what I have so far. I still have to finish spending the money for his gear, selecting knowledge skills, contacts and spending karma.

so for my character, I was thinking that the reason that his resources were so low is that he just paid for lionization. short form background: He was born in 1975 and has survived to the modern day. became a somewhat famous shadowrunner who managed to retire then was running out of money so decided to do the only thing he really knows how: Shadowrunning. hence, he ponied up the money and became 20 something again. Leaving his old name behind, he has taken a new one and moved to a new city (I'm basing him loosely off a npc in my home game) and taken a new id to start from scratch.

while I don't have him completely built yet, this is the avatar I will be using for my character. just posting here as a placeholder, and will get him statted up probably tomorrow (forgot to copy the book to my phone, and trying to dl it at work from my dropbox didn't work...)

Ok, clarified some stuff. :)
So, Fixer has asked me to play a bit part in the 5th edition game as well. Basically as a way to funnel disinform.. er, plot twi.. er to help the characters along if they get stuck. Yeah, that's the ticket. Kind of a mix of independent plot device and general helpful chaos maker. :)
So I'll wait until all the full on full bore players are in and characters created and then mock up something that covers any holes that might be in there, and put in the skills necessary to act as a low level fixer/corp liaison/client watchdog.
