Its a little difficult to tell because the stair icon doesn't make total sense. You are a single 5' step from entering the rat swarm. But if you don't go up, you will only have Line of Sight to that one swarm.

Gritting his teeth, Holys wades into the swarms and unleashes fiery death from his palms.

My understanding of the swarm rules is that no concentration check is required for the spell, since swarm damage happens on the swarm's action. Also, from the map I can angle the spell to the NE such that it gets both swarms but not my companions.

Holys, you are correct if it is the first round you've stepped into the swarm. Beyond that, I would rule that swarm damage is ongoing damage that necessitates a Concentration check every round.

The remarkably agile rats scurry away from the flame sorcerer as a whoosh! sound presages a gout of fire erupting from Holys's fingertips, destroying one large group and badly injuring the other.

Just then, the moldy curtain swishes aside and with a yell, two man-sized ratmen ride in on rats the size of ponies! Each ratman bears a longsword in one hand and a dragon pistol in the other, discharging the pistol as they come through the door!

The two shots discharge, but fly high, one hitting Tilver's armor at an angle and caroming away. Tilver stabs one of the giant rats in the flank and both rats tear chunks out of Tilver and Holys!

The mounted juggernauts attack Tilver and Silas. Screaming "Blood and souls for the Rat God!" the first ratman slices Tilver's chest with its longsword, while his giant rat mount savages the investigator's shin. Meanwhile, Silas manages to dodge and deflect all attacks aimed at him.

Grimacing with revulsion, Velika manages to maintain her song but she backs away from the swarm and sheathes her sword. She switches focus to the greater threat and shoots her pistol at the wounded Dire Rat Mount.

Generally, A is on the left and the alphabet proceeds to the right. You didn't say, but I assume you're attacking the injured one (B), not the one currently attacking you (A).

Silas dances in, seizes the ratlord from the back of the giant dire rat by its sword belt and pulls the creature down to the ground, finishing it with a single swift stroke of his sword.

Astonished by the litorian's violence, the various rats and ratmen seem to have forgotten Holys for a crucial, fatal second. With an arcane gesture, the sorcerer invokes the holocaust of elemental fire, sweeping away both the rat swarm and the last "ordinary" dire rat in an impressive display of pyrotechnics. The great rat mount is burned but not dead. It seems merely furious, and sweeps aside Tilver's attemept to kill it.

Scott, roger that on the pistol. I'm also aware of the cover, although I think that before Dain moved I actually has an unimpeded line from one of my corners to one of the rats. Silas scratches at some of the myriad of rat bites that hit his exposed, and in some cases less then exposed, skin, "I am getting really tired of rats. But what we heard from below was certainly not these fools and their filthy companions. We should heal up and move on. "

"I'm also injured." Holys looks at his bloody and scuffed clothes and wrinkles his nose in disdain. He then casts Prestidigitation, which gradually cleans and resets his clothing.

Velika reloads her gun and then sets about healing her friends with her wand of healing.

While Velika goes about healing their companions, Dain wanders over to the room's only window. Those paying attention hear him quietly engaging in a conversation with someone outside the window. After a few seconds he points towards the curtain on the other side of the room.

Dain steps aside from the window, and a small rat crawls through the window and plops down onto the floor. As it scurries towards the curtain, Dain sits down, closes his eyes, and says, "We'll take a look ahead while you knit your wounds."

use his Eyes of the Streets revelation to summon a spirit rat to act as an Arcane Eye to scout ahead
